  1. Underlining out of position when text in a table cell uses a World-Ready composer

When the text in a table cell uses a World-Ready composer and is underlined, the underlining in the last line is out of position. The invisible end-of-cell mark is underlined, but the first character in the line is only partially underlined. The workaround I've been using is to add a nonjoiner character at the beginning of the line. Doing so shifts the underlining into the correct position.

    1. Adobe InDesign 18.2.1
    2. Type enought text in a table cell to fill at least two lines; justify it with either of the World-Ready composers; underline the last line of text.
    3. Underlining should begin…

  2. Arabic

Using Adobe Arabic font, and paragraph set to Adobe World-Ready Paragraph Composer, when I copy in Arabic with a period at the end of the sentence, InDesign is interpreting the period as Roman/English text and placing it to the far right of the sentence, instead of at the end of the sentence (far left).

This is new since I last worked in these files in March of this year.

  3. Cross reference forces line break

    1. Indesign 17 and 16
    2. Write text in textbox. Insert cross reference close to the text box right boundary.
    3. I expect the cross reference to fit that line
    4. It is forced to line break.
    5. See attached files (red arrow).
    6. The problem does not occur when using Adobe World-Ready Paragraph Composer but when using (the normal) Adobe Paragraph Composer.

  4. world composer opentype

InDesign 19.4.0.63, two different Mac Studio M2, MacOS 13 and 12.7.4

    1 - Create new document
2 - Go to Parent, in either page of the default spread, create a text object
3 - Add TYPE -> ADD SPECIAL CHARACTER -> CURRENT PAGE NUMBER
4 - Select all, change font of this text object to Minion Pro
5 - Finally, change it to SMALL CAPS
    6 - Add PAGES -> add over 100 pages

    RESULT:

    • IF the Composer is set to ADOBE PARAGRAPH for that text object,
      • it will appear fine on page 100... the three digit number is properly…

  5. Cross references rendered to big/wrong line break

Text with cross references isn't rendered correctly. The line break is triggered far to early (see IDML and PNG) image. This affects probably all InDesign Version but was reproduced with CC 2020 and CC 2021

The line break works with the Adobe World-Ready Composers but not with the Classic Composers.

I cannot use the World-Ready Composers because of the justified nonbreaking space see https://indesign.uservoice.com/forums/601180-adobe-indesign-bugs/suggestions/41793187-bug-since-cs6-nonbreaking-space-s-issue-wit

    Please fix both bugs!

  6. List Forms not working properly when exporting to interactive PDF in non latin lagunages.

I work for a translating company, the list forms items do not export as they should be when building an interactive PDF. Latin using languages are ok, but when doing forms with non latin fonts, I get the forms, full of dots instead of proper characters. I changed the font to ARIAL Unicode MS, which displays great everywhere else, except the list forms. Other Adobe fonts, wont work either. It impossible to know if the World ready Adobe composer is activated inside the form. The rest of the document is IN Adobe World Ready composer.
    Only the first item is…

  7. Adobe Fonts not activating

When I need to activate a font from Adobe Fonts directly from Find Font context menu inside InDesign, it keeps loading indefinitely but never actually activates.

The only solution is going to Adobe Fonts web page and activate it there.

    Screenshot attached.

  8. Indesign CC 2023 Freezes/Crashes on Noto Sans (Google Fonts)

Even in the 2023 version of InDesign, using the following complex characters, Noto Sans Font, and Adobe World-Ready paragraph composer can cause the Indesign to crash or freeze. The list might be few more. Nothing wrong found in the fonts, only Indesign crashes. If use other fonts these characters are ok in Indesign.

Word file attached. Place this in Indesign and see the results.

  9. Adobe 2020 Crashes with copy & paste

Whenever I try to copy/paste small elements from adobe illustrator onto Adobe InDesign, indesign will automatically quit. If I try to recover the file after it has crashed, it crashes again...

What is happening here? This is an ongoing issue since the update.

  11. Adobe Fonts wont load

    Hello,

While creating a document I was trying to discover a new font. I clicked Fonts > Find More and where a list of adobe fonts usually pops up, I got nothing. I tried creating a new text box, signing in and out of adobe, and closing / opening the document.

Attached please find a screen grab of the issue.

I'd love an assist if possible.

  13. Bug with world ready composer when use space like thin en or em space in Thai language. And bug in text wrapping in 2020 version.

After updated to 2020 version that added support to Asian languages (include Thai), it look like Indesign force user (in my case Thai) to set language in Advanced Character Formats to Thai. After set the language Indesign also require me to use World-Ready Composer to set all tone marks in place.
    .
Before the latest version, I always avoid to use World-Ready Composer because it combines a word to single object, not just locks tone mark and float vowel to character in the right position. By which it impossible to navigate with text tool to the position of text that…

The fix for this issue is now available in the latest update of InDesign – that is, InDesign 15.0.2.

Please update your InDesign application to get this fix.

  14. footnote reference formatting is wrong

The new version 19 and 19.0.1 shows footnote reference numbers incorrectly When paragraph justification is set to Adobe World-Ready Paragraph Composer. It must be set to the basic Adobe Paragraph Composer to work.

The problem is the final digit (if the reference is greater than 9) does not apply the character style formatting defined in the Footnote Options setup, so the last digit is shown as normal.

The same issue happens on running head page numbers with a style applied, but only on the right hand page. It also happens on cross-reference numbers. A workaround is to place a character…

We’ve seen this issue happen when you have the same Font already installed on your machine.

So you may try going to where your Fonts are installed on Windows machine – (Control panel > Fonts) and uninstall/remove the Fonts that you are unable to Sync from Adobe Fonts.

Hopefully, the problem should get resolved.

  16. Adobe Fonts automatically substituting versions of fonts that are document-stalled

When I open an InDesign file that has been packaged with all the fonts (non-Adobe Fonts) included in the Document fonts folder, if I happen to have the same version of the font activated in Adobe Fonts, InDesign automatically, and without warning, substitutes the Adobe Fonts version. This is a major problem. The heirarchy should be document-installed fonts FIRST, then InDesign can look in Adobe Fonts and suggest replacing it. This should not be done without warning in the background. It means that the person who was working in a package workflow without using any Adobe Fonts can send…

  17. Germandbls in all caps with Adobe Composer

This is to report that the "World-Ready Composers" and the regular "Composers" do not behave in sync concerning the Germandbls (upper case German sharp s) in all caps. More precise: The "World-Ready Composers" do it right, while the regular "Composers" do it wrong:
Using the latter and applying all caps, the germandbls is generally substituted by SS, which shouldn't be. Modern fonts leave the decision to the typographer whether a Germandbls or SS is applied. In any case the first choice should be the Germandbls.
