332 votesWith 19.0 release we had added the support of Harfbuzz shaper as a default for World-Ready Composer in InDesign. Post that few issues were reported related Hebrew Text.
Over the period of ID19.x releases we have fixed various issues related to Harfbuzz shaper that are listed below:
1. Incorrect text direction when mixed languages are used.
2. Punctuation marks are getting lost when exporting it to PDFs.
3. When we apply forced line breaks, the right-to-left text changes to left-lo-right.
4. Overlapping of right-to-left text we place any .psd file in the textframe.
5. Selection and cursor navigation issues when we try to edit tables in story editor.
6. Text overlapping upon creating outlines when it contains footnote reference.
From ID19.4 version onwards, we have also provided a preference within the application to allow users to switch to legacy shaping engine for World-Ready Composer in case users are facing issues…

[ID-4243320]Cursor moves differently in MENA builds.
InDesign version: v20 (both Mac & PC)
In right-to-left languages (Hebrew & Arabic) the cursor movement went crazy:
- Left key - goes up
- Right key - jumps to the end of the line...
We can't work that wayNote: both (23\25 indd) set to 'Visual' in preferences > right-to-left > cursor movement (of course, changing the setting to 'logical' doesn’t solve it)

[ID-4246352]NIKKUD (accents/diacritics) selection has become invisible
InDesign version: v20 (both Mac & PC)
Hebrew letters can use NIKKUD - vocalization diacritical marks (function like Vowels) under/above the letter.
- In previous versions (-2023) it was possible to select only the NIKKUD (attached image) of the letter. (in order to specify the position of the NIKKUD using the Diacritic Positioning panel or to change color, etc.)
- In the current version (2024-2025) the selection is on the entire letter, and there is no visual indication whether the letter or the NIKKUD is selected (attached image).
Note: Sometimes there are two NIKKUD characters and even in such a case in…

CMYK color specified in MathML does not match the set value
InDesign 20.0 (2025)
Windows /macOSWhen I apply a preset or a newly created CMYK swatch to MathML, the color does not match the value.
It appears to be CMYK via RGB color.Original text (Japanese):
MathMLに対し、プリセットや新規作成したCMYKスウォッチを適用しても、その数値どおりのカラーになりません。
RGBカラーを経由してCMYKになっているように見えます。31 votesThank you for trying out the MathML feature in InDesign! The math objects created using this feature are placed as SVGs, and hence they exclusively support RGB colours. If you try to apply a non RGB colour (CMYK/LAB/HSV-based), then by design it is converted to RGB before it is applied to the math object. This conversion is designed to enable users to continue using document colours that are not RGB-based for the math object SVGs.

Alert is shown on opening documents in InDesign(v19.4.0.63) - "This file is already open by another user or another application."
After updating InDesign to V19.4, I'm now locked out of many of my previous design files. I'm receiving the error, "This file is already open by another user or another application. This file may be stored on a network server and cannot be opened until the other user closes it."
I reinstalled V19.3 and can now access these old files but I would prefer to use the most up to date version if possible. happy to provide a sample if needed.
41 votesThe fix of the issue is now available in the latest InDesign 2024(v19.5.0.084). We recommend you upgrade to the latest version for the fix.
If you are unable to see the update, go to the Creative Cloud application and click on the context menu on the top right and click on Check for App Updates.

InDesign 2025 Won't Lock "Constrain Proportions"
When creating a frame, rectangle, any object, or selecting any other object, InDesign 2025 will not keep Constrain Proportions locked when the lock icon is clicked on the control bar.
The user now has to click it while they select each object and want to scale an object by scaling either the width or height.
I didn't notice this at first, but found out from a Reddit post.

InDesign hangs when placing CJK tagged text with ruby
I'm currently using ID 2024, but I have tested other versions of ID, back to CS6, and they all have the same problem. I'm currently running Windows 11, but the problem also occurs in Windows 10.
Steps:
- Install the Adobe font family, Source Han Sans TW, on your computer.
- Download TaggedText.zip and unzip it
- Open InDesign in the CJK version
- Create a new document with these grid attributes: Direction = Vertical; Font = Source Han Sans TW, Normal; Size = 16 pt; Vertical = Horizontal = 100%; Char Aki = 0 pt; Line Aki = 10 pt; Characters = 40;…

The amount of “Indent to Here” in a paragraph with a “Text Wrap” object at the beginning of the line is wider than usual.
- Version of Adobe InDesign Windows CC2023-2024
- Steps to reproduce the issues Place an object with "Text Wrap" at the beginning of the line and insert "Indent to Here" in the paragraph.
- Expected result Wrap at "Indent to Here"
- Actual result A gap is created where the "Text Wrap" is added to the wrap of "Indent to Here".
I suspect that the issue mentioned in the post below may be related to it being fixed in 2023 (18.0).
https://indesign.uservoice.com/forums/601180-adobe-indesign-bugs/suggestions/42200695-text-wrapping-has-changed-to-before-2019-use-textfIt was working normally until CC2022, but problems have been occurring since CC2023.

Data merge not working for absolute paths on macOS
With the latest update of 19.4, image paths no longer work for merge documents. I installed the latest update, which went back to 19.3, and have had no issues; therefore, I have isolated the issue with the update. I currently usean Excell file with an image field and the path to the image associated with each record. I have not changed anything in the file but with the new update I get the error message indicating the file is missing.
17 votesThe fix of the issue is now available in the latest InDesign 2024(v19.5.0.084). We recommend you upgrade to the latest version for the fix.
Kindly update the data source file with the POSIX style path in Macintosh to work with data merge functionality smoothly. Please refer to the helpx https://helpx.adobe.com/in/indesign/using/data-merge.html to know more about the difference between HFS and Posix style paths.
You can get the actual POSIX path of a file by right-click it in the Finder while holding Option (or right-click, then press Option) > Copy as pathname menu. This can help you explore the correct POSIX paths to ensure you're using them correctly.
Note: Relative path as such /<foldername>/<filename> is no longer supported after the fix, as it considers the starting “/” as an absolute path. Instead, the recommendation is to omit the starting “/” and use <foldername>/<filename> instead or any of the other existing ways to access the…
