Proportional Scaling Using Shift Button Not Working
In the 2017.1 release of InDesign, the ability to hold Shift and scale objects proportionally seems to have disappeared. I know for me this is a major functionality problem that is increasing the time I have to spend on current projects. I've checked support forums and others are encountering this problem, but I haven't yet seen a solution.
Thank you for your patience all this while; we really appreciate your support!
Our investigation suggests that one of common reasons for the problem is that certain software (mostly antivirus and other security applications) and browser extensions happen to enable “Secure Keyboard Entry” on Mac machines due to which some keys such as Shift key in this case do not perform the desired action in InDesign.
For now I request you to follow the below provided KB doc for the quick workaround of the problem.
In the comments section many of the users have confirmed that disabling Webroot SecureAnywhere (a security app) has resolved the issue for them. Please note that, the problem may not be related to a particular software; there could be a different application or antivirus which might be causing the problem by enabling Secure Keyboard Entry on Mac.

This problem occured yesterday - I restarted my Mac without help. Still problem today – I quit Chrome and startet again and the problem disappeared. :-)
Im having this problem and I dont have webroot installed on my macbook. InDesign is basically unusable for me without these functions.
Where is the fix for this? I'm paying a lot of money for this software.
I quit Safari and it works again! Unbelievable.. Thanks Rich!
Same problem - anyone any solutions? Also the Alt to duplicate content isn't working either. Didn't realise how much I used both of these functions!!
Same problem. What are you doing Adobe?
Same issue with the latest update 2020. I am also experiencing issues with master pages. Some of the information doesn't show, although when you go to the master page it is there. When applying the style again, information reappears, however, the other pages now have issues. 2019 worked flawless. I will be reverted back to 2019 until they work out these bugs.

Same problem since my last Update to Indesign 2020 (15.1.1) ... Very disappointed...
I just past 1,5 hour in a "adobe remote" with an Adobe Expert to resolve the bug and the team have no solutions for now... I wish some solutions in the next week... If some people have question, here's the number of the case : Case number ADB-13937799-T1J5.
Help! Same problem when I updated to 2020. It was working find in 2019!!!
No idea what this webroot thing is.
I have the same problem after the update. It's not even locking to grid when i hold shift either. So frustrated.
Quitting Chrome worked for me. If that doesn't work, close all browsers.
After yesterday's update this is broken for me.
has a fix been found for this? webroot isn't the problem
Shift key also doesn't work when trying to lock a moving object on the same plane. Would love to know a fix for this SHIFT key issue if anyone has any.
I'm having the same issue out of nowhere, very frustrating for my workflow... Any actual solutions Adobe?
using Mac Mojave 10.14.6
I have the same problem!! I was just working.. and all of a sudden it's there.
This is not resolving the problem. Adobe, what are the other options to fixing this?
SAME CONTINUING RELENTLESS UNFIXED PROBLEM
Shift key won't proportionally resize using corner handle and it's now march 2020.
Indesign CC Mac MOJAVE
The above solution did not work for me - there is no Webroot anywhere.
Please help. Adobe this problem is driving me crazy. I have search all across the internet and tried all the known fixes (delete prefs, remove Wacom prefs, remove WebRoot, closing Safari, restart, etc.) and none of them have worked.
This problem seems to have been going on out in the community for year and the solution seems to keep changing.
I'm using InDesign 15.0.1 on a mac running Catalina.
Please Help! Dean
