  1. Estimate booklets: reusable price-table layouts for contractors

    Contractors reuse the same estimate layout for every job, rebuilding it from scratch each time.

    InDesign could ship an estimate booklet template with price tables, photo slots and a warranty page, ready to fill in. A roofing waukegan estimator producing a clean multi-page estimate — scope, materials, warranty — wins more jobs than a single-page quote.

    Reusable styles would keep every estimate from the same company looking consistent.

  2. Bill and invoice layout templates with RTL support

    Freelancers keep rebuilding the same utility-style documents: monthly invoices, statements, payment reminders. A starter template pack - clean tables, totals, due-date blocks, and full right-to-left variants - would save hours per client.

    I recently mocked up a statement in the style of a Dubai utility bill to test table direction; for reference I compared figures against dewa bill check while laying it out. InDesign handled the numbers fine but the RTL table direction fought me the whole way - templates that start correct would fix that.

  3. InDesign tools stop functioning properly and has to be force quit regularly

    Within an hour of Indesign 2026 launch, resize tool stops responding and will stop switching to other tools, and I have to quit the app. It always fails to quit, I always force quit, but crash reporter does not come up. I have a Mac version, the latest as of October 23, 2026. Sometimes it happens within 10 minutes, sometimes it takes close to an hour, but it happens every time I launch the app.

  4. RTL table direction should follow the story direction automatically

    In Arabic documents, tables inserted into a right-to-left story still default to left-to-right column order, so the first column lands on the wrong side and has to be fixed manually every time. Letting a table inherit its direction from the parent story would remove a constant papercut in RTL publishing.

    I produce a lot of timetable and tariff tables for print guides; the reference material I adapt usually looks like dubai metro timings — dense time tables where column order really matters in Arabic.

    Same request for anchored tables inside RTL text frames: inherit, with an override in Table Options.

  5. German dictionary hyphenation sucks

    InDesign 21.6 on macOS 27.0.1: There are discrepancies between the German dictionary entries and the actual hyphenation—InDesign uses only the hyphenation rules from the German DUDEN dictionary, meaning that the hyphenation points entered by the user in the dictionary are not applied.

    Adobe, please fix this issue as soon as possible.

  6. Inconsistent TrueType font bounding boxes in exported PDFs causing glyph rendering problems in Harlequin RIP

    I'm investigating a font rendering issue involving PDFs exported from Adobe InDesign.
    When processing certain PDFs in Harlequin RIP (through CloudFlow v23.9), some glyphs are rendered incorrectly. Parts of individual characters, particularly certain strokes and character legs, appear distorted or have incorrect dimensions.
    While investigating the embedded TrueType fonts, I discovered inconsistencies between the global font bounding box in the head table and the actual bounding boxes of individual glyphs.

  7. macOS Turkish F (Old) keyboard layout causes Cmd+W to trigger window switching instead of Close

    Steps to reproduce the issues:

    Set macOS keyboard layout to "Türkçe F - (Eski)".

    Open Adobe InDesign and have multiple document tabs open.

    Press Command + W to close the active document.

    Expected result:
    The active document tab should close.

    Actual result:
    Instead of closing the document, InDesign registers the shortcut as Cmd + < and switches between document windows/tabs. This bug is specific to InDesign and does not happen in Illustrator, Photoshop, or Acrobat.

    Additional Info:
    Please fix the key-scanning and mapping layer for macOS Turkish F layouts in InDesign.

  8. Packaging a File Doesn't Open Finder to Correct Folder

    When you export a PDF, it automatically opens to the enclosing folder. This used to be the case for packaging, but now it does not (at least on Mac). So now every time I package a file, I have to navigate to the folder in my open projects, which when you're packaging about 500 projects a year is a real pain.

    Hi!

    I have used your apps for 20 years. I really have to say that quality of the soft has gone down huge amount in recent 2 years. These were known to be reliable and working but these days full of bugs and a lot of problem on hangling the images. I have started to think about changing our workflow because of this. Huge decline

  10. Numbered list

    When I create a new Paragraph Style for numbering, whenever I start a new section with a Header and click on my Numbering style the numbers continue from the previous header.
    From the screenshot I created a numbered list that started with 1 through 3. Then I started a new section with a new Header and clicked on my Number Style. As you can see, the numbering continue. When I tried editing my Numbering style to change the number from Continue with previous list to Start At 1, it changes all my numbering to a list of all 1s.

  11. Changed Spot Colors from Illustrator won't update in InDesign color swatches

    If you place an Illustrator file in InDesign which includes spot colors, and change the color values in Illustrator, the changed values will not show up in InDesign's color swatches panel.

    Tested with InDesign 25 and 26.
    On a Mac.

    You can see on the screenshot:

    I first made a frame with the spot color "STANZE Magenta" in Illustrator and placed in in InDesign.
    Then I changed the color values in Illustrator so that the color is green.

    In InDesign the places image is updated and shows the correct green color.
    But in the swatch panel it is still magenta.

    Title: Bridge – “Place in InDesign” command missing with InDesign 2027 Beta on macOS

    Description:

    I’m using Adobe Bridge and InDesign 2027 Beta on macOS. In Bridge, the InDesign option is missing from the Place menu, and there is no InDesign entry of any version in Bridge’s Startup Scripts preferences.

    I’ve reinstalled both applications. I can drag images from Bridge into InDesign successfully, but I cannot use the dedicated Place in InDesign command.

    I do not have the regular release of InDesign installed. Please advise how to restore or register the Bridge–InDesign integration script for this Beta version.

    文字の属性のうち、ベースラインシフトは「組版」（行送り）の単位に依存しますが、
    段落スタイルおよび文字スタイルの設定画面では「テキストサイズ」の単位に依存しています(FIg_1)。

    スタイル設定の一覧フィールドでは、正しく「組版」の単位が使われています(Fig_2)。

    適切に統一されるべきです。

    ver. 21.6 で確認しました。

  15. Relink All Instances causes freeze

    Relink All Instances causes InDesign 21.6 to freeze. I tried relinking pdf and jpg files with the same result. There are only 23 links, and the files are small/not complex. AI image description is turned off. The Relink popup window displays and the application becomes completely unresponsive for 10 minutes. Windows Task Manager shows CPU and memory use. Eventually the files relink, but this is totally unusable in my workflow.

    The 21.5 patch that allows Data Merge to read UTF8 encoding is welcome, but seems to have created a problem with directional single/double quotation marks from non-UTF CSVs. After merge, these appear as missing characters. The issue seems to be that ID is reading the ASCII code as a Unicode decimal code: the missing characters are Unicode decimal 145/146/147/148 - but these are the ASCII codes for the relevant characters, not Unicode.

  18. The nonbreaking hyphen is missing in InDesign after flowing the DOCX file

    Hi All,

    In my input Word (DOCX) file, several nonbreaking hyphens are used. However, when I flow the DOCX file into InDesign 2026, all nonbreaking hyphens are dropped.

    This issue has been reported to Adobe by several users over the years, but there has been no fix or response from Adobe so far.

  19. Publish Online unacceptable result

    Used InDesign's (2026) Publish Online function for a simple, 1-page flyer, horizontal ("landscape") layout.
    Result OK—EXCEPT there's a vertical BOX (gray outline) visible right up the middle of the piece, bisecting the 2 sides of it.

    I had Saved & Exported the item successfully; my PDFs don't show this box. Screen Mode is set to Preview, so there are NO visible guides of any sort in the InDes doc.

    Is there any way to get rid of that weird box rule? a setting I need to change within InDesign?

  20. InDesign 21.6 crashes whenever I add a text box or attempt to edit a previous text box

    Unable to edit or create new text in my document. Every time I add a text box, the system crashes. It's so very frustrating.
