Red stripes in InDesign document
Why do I get red stripes in the indesign document when I have more than two files open?
We're happy to announce that the fix for this issue is now available in the latest update of InDesign - version 17.2 that is available from Creative Cloud Desktop application.
Please update to this latest InDesign version to get the fix.

Well, you have to hand it to Adobe, the bugs have been improved.
Adobe make things better! Even the bugsdesign! No longer just only red. But color harmonious and simply beautiful! I think there is no program that can compete with Adobe in terms of bugs. Bugs they can.

Still getting this issue. If I have simple text blocks on the page and try to scroll down, a wash of red fills either a portion of the screen or creates a block. If I zoom out it goes away, but it's majorly annoying and interrupts my work.
Using 18.2.1, Ventura 13.3.3, Spectre monitor fairly new. No issues in other programs. -

Hi. Well I'm on ID 17.3 and having all sorts of screen display issues when GPU is active. I recently upgraded to a Mac Studio set up with 64GB Ram and 10 core performance in order to try and solve the strange screen issues that seem to happen when GPU acceleration is active: shards of colour and strange patterns across the screen, text showing overlaid on text when applying text styles. If anything it's worse now! I assumed it was my previous i7 iMac processor/memory/graphics card combo but clearly not. Turning off GPU does seem to make a difference though not tested exhaustively yet. But then I lose the benefits that GPU offers including animated Zoom. Like others there seem to be no GPU issues in PS or AI. Really needs sorting as I've had this issue for about three years now.

ADMIN
Ravi Kiran (Senior Lead Quality Engineer, Adobe InDesign)I have had this issue now for a long time, going back many versions, but have persevered thinking the issue would be get fixed.
I was delighted to see your comment saying the issue is fixed in Version 17.2, but now in Version 17.3, it is definitely still a problem and I don't think it was fixed in Version 17.2 either.
Please contact me if you need more debugging, I am happy to spend time helping.
But alas, not it's not fixed.
I keep all of my Adobe apps up to date and I am currently running on Version 17.3 of Indesign.
Yesterday I started a new post called "Random Blocks of Colour, screen skipping". I have copied the text of that "Bug issues" and the associated files below.
This is so frustrating I also have this issue. Please NOTE this is still occurring in Version 17.3
The problem appears to be random when I scroll through a document, any document but only happens in InDesign.
I have to scroll the banded colour off the screen and then scroll back to the area I want to edit.
I just went to capture the attached image "One" and when I went back to InDesign to get the version details the banding had changed to image "Two".I do have GPU Performance "Checked", But it is a compatible GPU! Therefore it should work without this issue.
I see "DERJUNG" has suggested turning off the GPU acceleration in InDesign.
Adobe people, this is a very inconvenient workaround and is not acceptable to us users who pay an overpriced subscription for the service and the lack of response we get in return.
I have since turned off GPU Performance and I still get the colour banding! But now it is in Green rather than in Red!
In frustration, I have downloaded and paid for the full Affinity suite and find Affinity Publisher quite acceptable.

I am still getting the crazy colors in GPU mode on a Mac running OS Monterey and Indesign 17.2. My earlier post was merged with this one which seems specific to red...

Today I saw yellow stripes and even fractal yellow areas on a colleague's screenshare that covered the entire layout. I think Adobe has finally made some improvements. And it is a feature: Red stripes alone were too boring in the long run. Oh, it was also InDesign 17.1 .and it probably happens all the time with her. @Oh, it was also InDesign 17.1 .and it probably happens all the time with her.
Dear Adobe If you can't get the bug fixed, as it seems: Could you also add the bug in rainbow colors?

This is still happening (Feb. 2022 with version CC 17.1 Indesign) and is not just red but green and black as well. It does NOT happen in CPU preview and does in GPU preview!

Dear Adobe
Sometimes it is not a good idea to repair part of a house. Close one hole and it bubbles up somewhere else.As far as I can remember, GPU support has been a problem from the beginning. Even the first time the new feature was released, there were black or red screens. Maybe it would be a good idea to tear down that part of the house and rebuild it completely new. It's sometimes tiny little things that you can't find and every attempt to work around the problem makes it a patchwork quilt. Full of new problems with no prospect of improvement!

@Bpossum
The problem is not the document. The problem is the version of Indesign you use! First deaktivate GPU Support in your settings. Restart Indesign. If the problem is gone. Good! If not Install an older version 16.2 for example. But before save your Workspaces, Keysettings (they will be gone)Use 16.2 without GPU-Support. Send a warm Thank-U to Adobe creating this bug!
Oh, one thing i have forgotten: The stripes you see on your monitor should actually disappear when writing PDFs! Or?

I have a 300 pages file (of a more than 600 pages book) with purple vertical stripes in ID2020: I tried saving idml format but they are still there. I have to send the final pdfs within the end of November and I don't know how obtain clean normal pages [*panic!!]. Any suggestion?
Thank you in advance,

The same here, it got a lot worse with version 17. All those "funny" shapes do not disappear through chancing the size of the InDesign frame as it did in version 16.

And I was still reading the info about the new Indesign 17: "We heard you!". Really.? I alone lack faith!
And I asked myself should I dare and update ... when a designer friend called ... his iMonitor was broken. He had red streaks everywhere and display errors! lol
Turns out he had the brand new version 17! it would be funny if it wasn't so sad! Oh well, my friend never had any problems before that! After reinstalling 16.X ..evrything was fine.
it seems to be a never ending story ...with the prospect of continuation

Same issue, and very frustrated!! Any time I open two documents at once and attempt to copy items between the two (and sometimes just when I open two documents at once). This is an ongoing issue for me lately.
Running InDesign 16.2.1 on a Mac OS Mojave 10.14.6 (admittedly far behind on the OS updates) Please fix this!!! -

Same issue with large red blocks and bands are happening to me (everyday) while working in InDesign 2021 v16.4.
On Big Sur 11.6. Please fix ASAP. -

Same, same, same. Big blocks of weird color when I move my cursor, weird vertical smearing bars, terrible performance. All on InDesign 16.4 and Illustrator 24.4.1. It's a constant disruption to workflow.
Since I am on the above products 99% of my day, I haven't been able to tell if my Aug 2020 iMac is the problem, or Adobe. But the comments on this thread are certainly giving me a clue.
I wish I could quit you, Adobe.

On version 16.3.2 for Mac, been getting this red screen issue a lot over the last few weeks, never had it before. Using 2019 27" iMac, when is this going to be fixed?
