In InDesign CC 2019 slow Reaction Time on clicking from one object to another.
Using InDesign CC 14.0 on Windows 10. I have an magazine layout with text and picture boxes, of course. When clicking from one box to another, there is a long delay, a temporary freeze. Eventually (20-30 seconds) it awakens and I can move on. But it's happening more frequently, even after a reboot.
Is this an issue of my computer talking to Adobe servers?
Nothing to screen shot, there is no message.
Hello All,
Following up on the comments stating that the issue is yet not fixed, we did our investigation and found that, the issues being called out in the comment section, though maybe relevant but are different than the one for which this thread was originally created.
This particular thread caters to a very specific case which has been fixed in the last update of InDesign.
If you continue to face performance related issues with InDesign, we sincerely request you to create a separate thread so that we can categorize the performance related issues and address them completely.
In addition to track the performance issues effectively, it will also enable us to reach out to you in a organised manner when we investigate into each category of performance issues.
We are extremely sorry for the troubles you are facing with InDesign and we are determined to resolve them as efficiently as possible; we need your support.
Regards,
Abhinav Kaushik

I have the same issue and it is costing me time and more importantly, money. I can't make a living if every job takes twice as long as it should and leaves me right up against already tight deadlines with ever decreasing revenues. If it isn't fixed soon I'm going to have to seriously consider ditching InDesign as it's virtually unusable. I'm using the latest version (14.0.2) on a Mid- 2011 iMac running High Sierra

I am struggling with this as well. I normally work off of a server, but have moved all files over to my hard drive to try and speed up working, and am seeing little to no change. Working on InDesign version 14.0.2 x64 with Windows 10 build 1809.
Small InDesign document (5 MB), resizing small linked image--resize frame only from 2" height to 3" height with proportional change in width: took 5 seconds; clicking fit content proportionately button: took 4 seconds. The image that I am resizing is stored on local hard drive and is only 22.6KB, so it is not an issue with processing the image itself.
Just as in the original report--no issues with performance via Windows Task Manager.

The best release I know of ID CC is 2015, although it has an annoying bug in the Find/Change dialog box. The 2017 release is terribly slow in Win10 and I don't even dare to try newer versions that probably brings new bugs.

I used to be able to work much faster on my 6-year-old Macbook Pro where I used licensed versions of all the software. Ever since upgrading to a new iMac, Adobe and Cloud have become an annoying part of working. Indesign is very slow. It takes forever for simple tasks, effects my concentration and takes the pleasure out of working. Plus w/ our currency rate, dollar based monthy payments are quite a load, so what are we paying for?

For ****'s sake Adobe, incompetence of your ******** IT team is really reaching new heights. I kept having the same problem but I assumed that perhaps a part of it is due to an ageing Yoga I've been working on.
I'm now running a completely fresh install on a brand new laptop with a new i7, 32GB of RAM and an SSD - and what happened? I have a simple file with a few vector files and InDesign lags on the first objects selected after launch.
This post was updated a few days ago so clearly the issue has not been fixed as I'm running the latest version.
How the **** do you keep managing to keep ******* up your suite that's been in development for ******* 30 years?
I do not want to explicitly describe what I would do with your team at this point. The chain of monumental **** ups and performance issues of your CC editions is so ******* long that I frankly don't remember running your rubbish software without any issues since I abandoned the CS6.
Do your ******* job that you want to charge people money for. Clearly the monopolistic position you're in has caused you to grow fat and ******* lazy.

InDesign version 14.0.1 (2019) with Windows 10 build 1803. Working in documents is extremely slow. Clicking or selecting an item takes up to 30 seconds to respond. Program is virtually unusable.
No detectable performance issues via Task Manager. Plenty of resources available on RAM, disk and cpu.

Never experienced any issues until 14.0.1 update but it's frozen everytime I've opened it in the past month

Not fixed. My gosh - working on a document 50-100 pages long used to be a breeze - struggling here getting anything to load within 5 seconds yet you take the money on time without any delay!

Not fixed at all. I'd say I never had so much lag since the last upgrade, just got gradually worse for every update. The only fixed that worked for me is completely shutting off my wifi. Not an ideal solution. Better and better alternatives out there to Adobe.
On another note, and I find this symptomatic for Adobe as a whole., below you are forced to click the "I agree to the storage of my email.." but by clicking this button you aditionally sign up for notifications of product updates... that "You can opt-out of at any time". Adobe has truly became another big ignorant company driven by greed and ignorance. shame. -

This issue is not fixed. I have 14.0.1 and it's still present. Just so much lag! It's almost so bad I can't work in it. I"m trying though, but goodness. What the heck is going on with it?

I am having the same issue. I thought it was perhaps the upgrade to Mohave, but from the comments, it seems like it's not. It is BEYOND frustrating especially when under heavy deadlines. I end up working till late just to be sure i will have enough time the next day.

Thanks to Anonymous. I've been having this "spinning beach ball of death" with InDesign on and off for a while. As soon as I disabled Suitcase 9's auto-activation, the problem completely disappeared. Thanks again!
