1. publish online navigation buttons disappear in browsers and don't come back

   When I view a published document, the browser based navigation buttons and menu for downloading disappear after a couple seconds and don't come back without hitting F5. This is unworkable. Please change it so the nav arrows remain on the screen, even in full screen mode. I can't have my clients struggling to go to the next page. This happens in Chrome and Firefox. In Edge, they disappear, but will reappear if I move my mouse to the edge of the screen - also very frustrating because I just want to click through the document without struggling to find the arrows. This is a browser issue, NOT a document issue - this happens with ALL documents.

2. Typekit (or Adobe Fonts) or Fonts menu collapses while browsing through the list of fonts.

   I am absolutely loving the new InDesign features. But, whilst testing the new Typekit/Adobe Fonts browsing window in InDesign I came across this bug / crash. Instead of allowing me to freely roam the vast selection of fantastic fonts, the window just decides to close and defaults to one of the already synced fonts.

   InDesign version: 14.0, included a screencap.

   Edit: We reached to the users who have commented the issue still persists to identify the gap. It was discovered that their issue is different from what is being discussed on this thread. The issue pertaining to this thread is fixed. Hence, we are closing the thread.

   The fix for this issue is now available in the latest update 14.0.2 of InDesign 2019.
   If you are unable to see the update notification yet, open the menu (three dots) from the top-right of Creative Cloud desktop application and click on ‘Check For App Updates’.
   Once the update button is shown against InDesign, click on the button to update to Id 14.0.2.

3. [Error: "You do not have access to Publish Online Service"]Previously published documents via Publish Online no longer work.

   I have been working with publish online services and have spent the past few days publishing some document and everything works.

   Suddenly today, I began receiving this error when trying to publish online "You cannot use this feature right now. Please check your network connectivity."

   Additionally, when I try to access the publish online dashboard I see this error: "You do not have access to Publish Online service."

4. Error Code 4 / Fehler Code 4: for not damaged documents

   1. Adobe Indesin CC 13.01 After the last Update of Indesign time by time suddenly Indesign report a damaged file if you try to open any InDesign-Document.

   Everytime after restarting the Mac everything is good and I'm fortunally able to open all o these documents.

   Sometimes restarting Indesign helps, but not always.

   The last 3 days it happens much to often und it nervs.

   Hello All,

   We have fixed a number of stability issues with InDesign’s latest update. Please download the latest InDesign version.

   If you are unable to see the update yet, go to Creative Cloud application, click on the context menu on the top right and click on Check for App Updates.

6. Share for Review fails to update

   No issue creating a Share for Review. However updating an existing Share for Review results in an endlessly spinning blue circle and the link does not update.

7. [ID-4275284][Windows][KB5074109][KB5073724]InDesign encounters Error 2 while saving files or crashes during the save process

   Abruptly files that have been edited on a Mac are corrupting when opened on PC and a save is attempted - often crashing InDesign repeatedly. Can normally eventually save a copy to 'Downloads' - rather than the shared Dropbox folder and then overwrite but tends to take several restarts and recovery attemps / saving as idml. Gives a variety of error messages - sometimes error 2, sometimes unable to do this process, some times tried to save but couldn't... any ideas?!

   We are closely monitoring the KB previously shared by Microsoft for Windows 10 | Windows 11, and we see that the issue status is marked as resolved (Resolved: 23 Jan 2026, 14:00 PT).

   • Windows 11 - Resolution: This issue is resolved in the out-of-band (OOB) update released on January 24, 2026, (KB5078127), and updates released after this date.
   • Windows 10 - Resolution: This issue is resolved in the out-of-band (OOB) update KB5078129, released on January 24, 2026, and available via the Microsoft Update Catalog, as well as in updates released after this date.

   We have validated the fix on Windows 11 and are seeing the issue resolved. Kindly install the latest update and confirm whether it resolves the issue for you.

8. Export and Save As dialogs not showing up in MacOS Monterey

9. stalls intermittently, seconds to minutes of spinning beach ball or Application not responding

   Stalls to a spinning beach ball intermittently during use. Add images in frames, move images or add text, what-ever, it suddenly just stalls and can take seconds to minutes before clearing. CS6, the CC2017 worked fine. Now CC2018 seems to have regressed in performance. I have to FORCE QUIT at times. MacOS Sierra 10.12.6

   We had launched our investigation into the matter to get to the root cause of the problem. As the part of our investigation, we had reached out to many of you personally over email.
   We have concluded our investigation and have come up with few findings.

   1. For many of the users the issue got fixed after updating InDesign to a newer version.
   2. For some, the issue got resolved after disabling a third-party application such as Suitecase fusion etc.
   3. For few, the issue was intermittent and is no longer reproducible.
   4. For majority of the users, the underlying cause of the performance issue was identified to be related to span columns, cross-references, third party plugin etc.

   We have created separated threads for these issues and we are now working towards resolving them.

   However, over the time this thread has become too generic to serve its purpose effectively. As per your feedback and the outcome of our investigation we have created multiple threads to address each root cause separately and effectively.

10. [ID-4245419]Auto-Sizing of text frames results in abnormally long widths

    InDesign 2023 v18.1 (Probably occurs in all versions after CS6)

    There is a terrible bug in Auto-Sizing for text frames that causes the width to become unusually long.

    Simple and reliable reproduction procedure

    1. Create a new document
    2. Set all units to points in Preferences
    3. Create a new text frame
    4. Set paragraph style to “Basic Paragraph” and clear overrides
    5. Set Auto-Sizing
       -->Change to “Height and Width” --> Click the upper left corner -->Turn on “No Line Breaks”
    6. Insert Spacing to 1 pt
    7. Corner Options to 1 pt and Round
    8. Enter “0 [Line Break]” repeatedly (about 20 times) in the text frame

    Workaround

    Set Columns
    -->Change to “Flexible Width”
    -->Set Maximum to a very large value (like 1000 pt)

11. [ID-4236204]Using “Paragraph Borders and Shading” on frame grid, it is incorrect to base them on grid attributes possessed by the frame grid

    InDesign Version CC2018 or newer

    1. “Paragraph Borders and Shading” are usually generated based on the outline of the glyphs in the paragraph to which they are applied.
       This is true even if they are grid-aligned on a text frame (Figure 1-a, right).
       However, when the same settings are made on a frame grid, for some reason, they are generated based on the grid attributes of the frame grid, not the glyph outlines.
       This always occurs based on the grid attribute of the frame grid, regardless of whether the text in the frame grid is grid-aligned or not (Figure 1-a left).
       The “Paragraph Borders and Shading” setting in Figure 1-a is the same for both (Figure 1-b).
       In Japanese typesetting, such operation is rarely used.
       In particular, it is never done when paragraphs that are not grid-aligned are mixed within a frame grid.
       For this reason, “Paragraph Borders and Shading”cannot be used when using a frame grid.

    2. Then, it is not so if “Paragraph Borders and Shading” can be somehow operated as long as they are grid-aligned in the frame grid.
       In Figure 2-a, it can be seen that the "Paragraph Border" that occurs in the right and left paragraphs is different.
       Both the right and the left have the same settings (Figure 2-b).
       The only difference is whether it is at the top of the paragraph or in the middle.
       This phenomenon occurs when the “Gyodori”setting is used.

    From the above two points, I believe that the developer does not understand how the “Paragraph Borders and Shading” should occur on the frame grid at all.
    “Paragraph Borders and Shading” should occur on the frame grid, just as it does on a text frame, based on glyph outlines, and should not be affected by grid attributes.

    2.　ではフレームグリッド内でグリッド揃えをしていれば、「段落の囲み罫と背景色」は何とか運用できるのかというと、そうではない。
    図2-aでは、右と左の段落で、発生している「段落の囲み罫」が異なることが見て取れるだろう。
    右も左も同じ設定である（図2-b）。
    違うのは、段落の最上部にあるか、半ばにあるかだけである。
    この現象は、「段落の行取り」設定をしているときに発生する。

    上記の2つの点から、開発者はフレームグリッド上で「段落の囲み罫と背景色」がどのように発生するべきかを全く理解していないと考えられる。
    「段落の囲み罫と背景色」は、フレームグリッド上であっても、テキストフレーム上と同じように、グリフ外形を基準として発生するべきで、グリッド属性に左右されてはいけない。

12. [ID-4219732]Slow performance

    Lately InDesign is nearly unusable. Almost every action from selecting objects, resizing objects, or moving objects comes with a really slow reaction time. Even when clicking between panels in the toolbar there is a delay of about half a second.

    I have tried ruling out potential issues like updating graphic drivers and embedding all resources into the document. Nothing works it seems like the application is just unstable. Please advise, I love to work with indesign but this is overall a very bad user experience.

    Customer comments

    • InDesign lags when rearranging text boxes, adding image frames, adjusting frames that already exist
    • Selecting an item (e.g. text frame) in small and really uncomplicated documents has slight but very noticeable delays/lags, almost as if the click hangs and makes the item drag a little instead of just being selected.
    • Performance degradation is observed if more than 1 document is opened
    • Creating packages (File > Package) takes so much time – especially collecting image files into the Links-folder. This behavior is generally observed with Illustrator files.
    • Performance degradation is observed while working on indd document and not with the IDML of the indd document.
    • Lag observed for almost every action from selecting objects, resizing objects, or moving objects

    Troubleshooting steps tried to resolve issues

    • Disable 3rd party plugins - One of the customer has tried with Suitcase Fusion but there was no improvement in the performance.

    Workarounds

    • Change the name of the image folder to disable the dynamic links to picture.
    • Exporting the document to IDML and working on it. Once the document is saved, the performance degradation is observed.
    • Disabling network and internet helps in improving the performance.

    Next Steps 

    • Please provide the number of links in the document when you start facing performance issues
    • Does turning off Links panel help improve performance?
    • Where do you link image from Local/Network/Shared Drives(One drive, Drop box etc)
    • All the machines mentioned in the UserVoice thread are intel based. Performance for Apple Silicon/M1/M2 machines is way better than Intel machines. Is there any user who is using Apple Silicon/M1/M2 and facing performance issues.

13. Presentation mode (shift+w) glitch in catalina

    Indesign CC 2019 running on a 15-inch, 2018 Mac, 2,6 GHz Intel Core i7 6 core, 32GB memory, with Catalina iOS 10.15.

    Every time i enter the "presentation mode", the first page i visualize looks good, when i move with the keyboard arrows to another page it visualizes glithces.

    The required fix has been done by Apple in 10.15.3 and newer versions of macOS.
    Please update macOS to resolve this issue.

14. When applying underline feature to TateChuYoko, the underline doesn't show

    When applying underline feature to TateChuYoko characters, the underline doesn't show. It means, the underline feature is set correctly, but it does not appear against TateChuYoko characters. We’ve struggled to this bug for a long time. As workaround, we have to create Anchor objects for TateChuYoko characters, or to put stroke lines instead of underline. These workarounds waste a lot of time. Please fix this ASAP.ASAP.

15. Page Panel Numbering in right-to-left spreads

    In a document with facing pages, when the document is changed to right-to-left, the numbers in page panel are displayed with a weird encoding or extra characters.

16. [ID-4224416]PDF comments: Delete <FEFF> marker after removal of all comments

    After choosing »Delete all comments« from the fly-out menu of the PDF comments panel at every position, where a comment was before the removal, a <FEFF> char is left behind, which shows up as a zero-width colon (:), when special characters are turned on.

    Since this is a useless char after deleting the comments, the <FEFF> should also be removed, when selecting the removal in the fly-out.

    <FEFF> shows up with XML tags, notes and index markers, so we can’t simply do a TEXT search for <FEFF> to remove it.
    BTW:
    \x{feff} doesn’t work in GREP search, which is kind of strange ...

17. [ID-4253441]"Don't Save" and "Cancel" Positions are reversed in InDesign 20.0

    "Don't Save" and "Cancel" Positions are reversed in Indesign 20.0.

    Why in the world would they do this??? Yet another meaningless update to hinder production.

    Not OS related, as I have not updated my OS since updating to Indesign 20.

    This option was updated in InDesign 20.0 version to match industry standards and stay consistent. We standardized this behavior to make workflows more predictable across products.

18. 2021 cannot create new document

    I just updated from 2020 to 2021 version.
    Now, when trying to create a new document, the dialogue works as expected but when clicking "erstellen" (create) nothing happens.
    Even after restarting the whole system (Mac Catalina).

19. Media panel gone HUGE

    So, after running in a while on the new Adobe 2020 app, I noticed that the Media panel started to grow in size each time I opened the tab. Before I could notice, the Media panel was absolutely huge.

    I tried to:

    • Reset the workplace

    • Reset the UI scalling

    • Uninstall and Install again InDesign 2020 (While removing UI Preferences)

    • Restart PC

    Nothing has worked.

    The only solution that seems to work as of right now is to downgrade to 2019.

20. Exclude color fields in book synchronization synchronized nevertheless

    I have book files and do not want to synchronize the colors. I disable this in the synchronization options.
    The colors will still be transferred/synced to all synchronized documents.

    With InDesign 19.5 release, Swatches will always get Synchronized when Object Styles/Paragraph Styles/Character Styles are selected in the Synchronize Options dialog.

    It has also been mentioned as one of the Fixed issues on https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/kb/fixed-issues.html
