Has this been reintroduced in the most recent release? My partner is running into this in InDesign v17 on MacOS 12.1, and it started ~8 days ago.

I'm on Monterey 12.1 and I've been having problems with this issue. InDesign 17.0.1 on a Macbook Pro 16 Max. Restarting InDesign solves it, but sometimes I can't save as/save as copy (invisible/non appearing box).

This error disappeared when I mirrored my display and laptop monitor, and switched to my laptop as main monitor. I've just never switched back. Too nervous.

Same problem. Mirror your external display with your laptop monitor and restart Indesign. Problem solved.

So much lost time trying to figure this out! Glad I found this Thread.
The Monitor thing worked.
Had to restart and close InDesign > Went into System preferences > Changed my primary display to my laptop instead of my external monitor > Re-opened Indesign > Then "save as" "export" and "package" worked.
Super frustrating how often I have to hit forums for "new issues" with the Adobe Programs.

My colleague suddenly had this issue with iMac + Monterey + Photoshop, save-dialog not appearing.
This seems to be related to external monitors. The solution in this case was to set the iMac internal display as the primary monitor instead of an external display.

The ONLY way to Save, Save As, Export or Place is to unplug external monitor, quit and restart InDesign, and do these actions before plugging in external monitor again.

I tried Esther's quick fix of setting Displays to Scaled but it did not work for me! Still having all these same issues with InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop! Impossible to work this way!

Over here the same issue, using a widescreen with resolution 3440 x 1440.
A quick fix that seems to work (for now):
> System settings > Monitors
> change the default to scaled and select the same resolution
