1. Indesign performance issue : slow opening, saving, exporting files

   InDesign taking up to 5 minutes to open a file. The file is a one-page document. Two minutes of nothing, then 2 minutes of a blue status bar, then another minute watching the tiny status bar on the application icon in the doc. Once the file is "open" it isn't visible until I toggle back and forth between InDesign and another application. Saving, even after changing only one text character, takes 55 seconds. Exporting a 30 page document to PDF took 20 minutes.

2. [ID-4257732]CMYK color specified in MathML does not match the set value

   InDesign 20.0 (2025)
   Windows /macOS

   When I apply a preset or a newly created CMYK swatch to MathML, the color does not match the value.
   It appears to be CMYK via RGB color.

   Thank you for trying out the MathML feature in InDesign! The math objects created using this feature are placed as SVGs, and hence they exclusively support RGB colours.If you try to apply a non RGB colour (CMYK/LAB/HSV-based), then by design it is converted to RGB before it is applied to the math object. This conversion is designed to enable users to continue using document colours that are not RGB-based for the math object SVGs.

3. Imported PDF comments not accurate

   1. ID 14 Mac
   2. Import PDF comments from file, including strikethroughs, replaced text, comments
   3. Some edits NOT SHOWN in ID file, though clearly present when PDF is viewed in Acrobat
   4. Faithful transfer of all edits to ID file (note non-transferred strikethrough of Highlights of Baltics in bottom quarter of screendump)

4. Publish Online Dashboard Fails to Show Analytics

   The analytics information will not load for individual documents or in the overview tab for documents published online from InDesign. I have found this to be a problem on macOS Mojave and Windows 10 using multiple web browsers including Safari, Chrome, Firefox, and Edge.

   When attempting to use view analytics or delete the online document, nothing occurs on the Document Trends page.

   Documents published from InDesign 19.0 onwards will no longer support integrated analytics from the dashboard. You can integrate Google Analytics to track insights into your documents.

   Analytics for documents published from the previous versions of InDesign will continue to be collected until November 30, 2024, after which no new analytics will be collected.

5. Filetype is the same as CC 2018

   InDesign CC 2019 (14.0.0.130) for Mac
   Filetype is the same as CC 2018. Each version has been given a unique Filetype. The only exception is v6.0.0–6.0.3 (CS4), but it was fixed as a bug in 6.0.4. I also expect it to be fixed as a bug of 14.0.0 as well.

   This has been done to preclude any new entries for CFBundleTypeOSTypes. The previous release, CC2018 had CFBundleTypeOSType as IDdD but for the new release, we have not created the new OSType entry as IDdE rather kept the previos entry intact.

   Apple had deprecated any entries of the form of CFBundleType from 10.5 and now recommends using a UTType(Uniform Type Identifier) entry instead of creating CFBundleType entries. We might choose creating UTTypes in the future. However, for now we have stopped creating separate CFBundleTypes for the new releases.
   It would helpful to know from you as to how you use these entries in your workflows so that we can suggest you an alternative.

6. Unable to package a file to a server after upgrading to Mojave.

   Dear Adobe,
   Yesterday we upgraded to 10.14 Mojave and I am not able to package files from windows server. Indesign freezes every time.
   I can make packeges from my MAC or from external hard drives. The network is working correctly. On High Sierrea everything worked properly.

   Indesign CC 2018: 13.0
   Mac: 10.14

   We have concluded our investigation into the issue and found that the issue is specific to few versions of MacOS 10.14.×.
   As a part of our investigation we had reached out to many of you, where many of you have confirmed that the issue gets resolved after upgrading to MacOS 10.14.5.

   Note:
   If you are NOT using MacOS 10.14.5 and still facing this issue, please upgrade your MacOs to 10.14.5 version.

7. [ID-4257731]No Redraws on Object Highlight

   Prerequisites

   • macOS version only
   • version 18 (2023) and later
   • Screen Mode: Normal
   • GPU Performance OFF (CPU Preview)

   This issue occurs 100% of the time under these conditions. Note that Overprint Preview forces CPU Preview, causing the issue even in Overprint Preview mode with GPU Performance ON. It persists across macOS versions and Intel/Apple Silicon platforms.

   Steps to Reproduce

   1. Prepare an InDesign document with multiple pages.
   2. Place any object on the page.
   3. Switch to the Text tool.
   4. Hover the mouse over the object (MouseEnter), without selecting it.
   5. Press the Cmd key while the mouse is over the object.
   6. The object is highlighted.
   7. Select the menu item "Layout > Next Page."

   The document should navigate to the next page, but it doesn't. Although the scrollbar or page panel indicates navigation, the display remains frozen without redrawing.

   Furthermore, even when the mouse is moved away from the object (MouseExit), the object remains highlighted and can be challenging to unhighlight.

   This feature, highlighting objects using "Text tool + Cmd key + MouseEnter," has been present in InDesign since its early versions. However, this issue surfaced in version 18 (2023) specifically when using CPU Preview, despite no problems in version 17 (2022).

   ---

   There are similar issues with other functions.

   Steps to Reproduce

   In addition to the prerequisites mentioned above, turn on "Highlight Object Under Selection Tool" in "Preferences > Interface." Then, highlight an object with the Selection Tool and press the keyboard shortcut for "Layout > Next Page" (shift+page down).

   The document should move to the next page, but it does not. Similarity to the above bug.

   "Highlight Object Under Selection Tool" is a feature introduced in CS5.5. Turning this off can prevent the issue from occurring.

   However, even when this is turned off, the object highlight with "Text Tool + Cmd Key + MouseEnter" does not turn off. It might be a completely separate function. To avoid confusion, I explained these two separately.

8. Export to PDF function crash in InDesign 15.1

   Today I have updated to InDesign 15.1 and when I try to export to PDF the application immediately crash.

   This happen even I change the type of export (small dimension, print, etc.).

   I'm using windows 10 pro ver. 1909 build 18363.836, and Indesign 15.1 x64.

   The system start to work but the application crash at 16% of the export.

   The problem seems connected with something on the file, because I try to export another project and it work perfectly.

   The file was all "green" in the preliminary checks panel.

   And I notice that the system crash also using other function, example scrolling the pages list or the links list.

   There is something wrong in the new version 15.1 that stops the compiling. Unfortunately no errors appear, only application crash.

   Coming back to version 15.0.3 have solved the problem and the file was perfectly exported in PDF.

   Today I have updated to InDesign 15.1 and when I try to export to PDF the application immediately crash.

   This happen even I change the type of export (small dimension, print, etc.).

9. Screen flickering - Screen turns black when moving objects.

   When i drag and drop a Textframe my Screen flickers black for a second - almost every damn time. This happens for me and most of my colleagues and it is horrible to work with.

   I feel like it got worse after installing the latest "Tablehead" fix that fixed the disapearing tableheads.

   Build 12.1.0.56
   OS X El Capitan 10.11.6
   iMac (Retina 4K, 21.5", 2015)
   3,3 GHz Intel Core i7
   16 GB 1867 MHz DDR3
   Intel Iris Pro Graphics 6200 1536 MB

   2nd Monior is a DELL U2414H, 23,5" at 1800p

   This is happening on quite a lot of machines in my Company and also for Persons i know using a 4K Retina iMac. and Really is a pain to work with. - It is NOT visible in a Screenrecording the only option would be to record a Video from my Smartphone if needed...

   The issue reported is at Apple’s end.
   Hence, Apple is recommending to update macOS to 10.15.x version in order to resolve this issue.

   Please update your macOS to Catalina. If you still face this issue in macOS 10.15 do add your comment in this thread.

10. [ID-4216880]Placed graphic displays and exports outside stroke.

    A placed graphic will show onscreen and in graphic exports like PNG and JPG outside the stroke when the stroke is aligned to the inside of the frame. InDesign 2020 and earlier. To reproduce: place a graphic, add a stroke to the frame, align stroke to inside, export the page to jpg or png. A thin portion of the image is visible outside the stroke. Obviously, this is most noticeable when the stroke is thick and white.

11. Khmer script justification is broken

    With the CC version, having World-Ready Composer enabled, Khmer script justification is still broken. I tried to use the text with and without ZWSP, and it's all the same. There was a thread talking about it https://forums.adobe.com/message/5030301 but seems no any new update.

    The justification is also broken in Photoshop CC.

12. [Break in CC 2018] Text frame properties lost when copying and pasting frames across document

    I have a document that uses top justification in a text frame, and bottom justification in another text frame. When I copy these frames, with or without any other objects, into a new document (think business card imposition), the bottom justification changes to top justification, altering the layout of the document.

    With no success.

14. [ID-4271100]With Application Frame "OFF", Green Maximize Button Doesn't Zoom to Fit Anymore

    Just updated ID and all the previous docs I've been working on today, are opening in huge windows. It takes a few resizes to scale down the window, then grabbing the bottom right corner to resize the window finally, it's jumping away from the cursor.

    Resizing windows when tiling still does that (as per the previous version/bug), which is also super annoying. Please fix all these bugs!! It's like no one at Adobe uses these products

15. InDesign publish online broken links and missing objects

    Have major problem with publish online, missing objects and links with question marks showing. This comes after 8 months working on this document with no issues at all. Really need this sorting by Adobe as I have to deliver project at end of this month latest.

    The fix has been deployed on the Production.

16. CC 2020 + Catalina makes computer really slow

    On a brand new iMac (Catalina), opening CC 2020 apps makes everything lag. When Adobe apps are not open, computer performance is fine. According to the Adobe Support Community, this issue seems pretty widespread and Adobe's suggested fixes do not help.

17. InDesign False Ligatures Bug

    InDesign sometimes, seemingly randomly, replaces pairs such as hn, il, io, sy, ek, etc. with completely wrong glyph, such as accented Y, U, etc., when regular Ligature setting is applied. This has been a problem since CS5 and we recently had it occur in CC2015, so it is still there. Affected fonts have been many over the years, including licensed Adobe fonts. Fonts can be Open Type or PostScript. Language setting can be English US, UK, or seemingly anything else. The only thing that works to avoid it is to turn off Ligatures which is generally unacceptable, so the only workaround is a targeted GREP style to apply ligatures to only the pairs that should have them for that file. This is a long-standing problem which has been reported in forums various times and needs to be addressed. There is no sure fire way to reproduce the bug. Only thing that sometimes works is to brute force load/unload fonts until the problem occurs. It seems that once the problem occurs the first time it may then become more frequent on that computer. I know someone who has even seen the effects of this problem in printed material (i.e., in a book they were reading).

    InDesign sometimes, seemingly randomly, replaces pairs such as hn, il, io, sy, ek, etc. with completely wrong glyph, such as accented Y, U, etc., when regular Ligature setting is applied. 18. InDesign performance issue: Hand tool freezes

    10.12.6 Sierra
    Hand tool freezes and no other tool can be selected. It won't unfreeze unless I shut down entire computer. This is a recurring issue.

    Hi,
    In order to reproduce the issue we sent information to all the affected users who have either voted or commented on this thread.
    Based on the replies we got we could infer that the issue is occurring when a third party software or application is also running in parallel. Some examples of the software used include Global Auto-correct, Google Chrome,
    Moreover, when the issue occurs it seems to hamper all CC applications such as Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop.
    A possible fix for the solution includes restarting the application or restarting the system.

    In the absence of any consistent reproducible steps, we are currently closing this thread as “not reproducible”. In case you again encounter the issue, please create a new thread mentioning the steps with which we can reproduce the issue and additional softwares, if in case any, that you are using.

19. InDesign Color Settings Are Overwritten by Other Versions

    Summary:
    InDesign is unable to maintain separate color settings for each version. Whenever a different version is activated, the color settings are forcibly overwritten by the last activated version.

    Steps to Reproduce:
    Launch InDesign 2025 and set the color settings to “Preset A” (e.g., a print vendor’s recommended settings).
    Launch and activate InDesign 2024.
    Without any warning, InDesign 2024 will adopt the same Preset A color settings.
    This also occurs in the opposite direction: activating either version will overwrite the other’s previously configured color settings.

    Expected Behavior:
    Like Photoshop and Illustrator, InDesign should maintain independent color settings for each version.

    Actual Behavior:
    InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Bridge all write the currently selected color setting preset to the shared sync file:
    ~/Library/Preferences/Adobe/Color/ACEConfigCache2.lst
    This file is what allows Bridge to synchronize color settings across Adobe apps.

    However, InDesign is the only application that overwrites the settings record for another version of InDesign, regardless of version.

    Root Cause:
    All apps use the same file, but only InDesign fails to differentiate versions.
    This causes one version of InDesign to overwrite the color settings of another—simply by being activated.

    Commentary:
    This behavior disrupts professional workflows.
    In environments such as print production where different versions of InDesign must use different color settings (e.g., for different clients or print vendors), this is a critical issue.

    InDesign should follow the same behavior as Photoshop and Illustrator:
    Write version-specific entries to ACEConfigCache2.lst, and avoid overwriting other versions’ settings.

20. [ID-4257175]Pages Panel: Buttons are hidden behind page number text when window is thin

    When the pages panel is as thin as possible, the buttons such as delete page are behind the text that says the number of pages. It is therefore not possible to click on the buttons. I always use this panel in a thin band, and it is now less practical.
