Cursor spins and text display lags while typing
ISSUE: While typing, text display will freeze/lag, and the cursor will change to a loading icon for about 2 seconds, then the text will finally appear all at once after the loading icon changes back to a regular cursor. This happens while typing in a regular text box.
EXPECTED RESULT: I expect text to appear on screen immediately as I press the key on the keyboard, not after a 2 second lag.
Version: InDesign CC 13.0 x64
Hi,
Please share a sample document and a small video demonstrating the issue at amaarora@adobe.com
We can then reproduce the issue in house
Thanks

I have had the same issue since the beginning of 2020 - in March InDesign was reinstalled, afterwards the problem disappeared, now it is back again. It makes working in InDesign very difficult. The IT team says it must be an Adobe issue as they have updated everything else to make things work.

hi, i am having this problem too. it seems to be isolated to one document, which is 10 pages and has no graphics. it has a couple of tables that don't span pages (because that's caused many crashes for me in the past). this document was supposed to be all table, so i created paragraph styles using paragraph borders that look like tables.
i've done the following to try to fix based on internet searches:
> deleted my indesign preferences
> unchecked the type contextual controls options
> unbalanced columnsi also
> removed all unused master pages
> removed all unused paragraph, character, and object styles
> rebooted several times
> saved as a different filename
> started with a blank document, no template or master pages, and rebuilt it from scratch
> the first time, i pasted the content in normally and it still lagged
> the second time, i pasted the content unformatted and loaded the styles from the original document
> i removed the larger tableplease help, i will be happy to send the document but would rather not post it publicly.
i just realized that it uses times new roman font because it was a requirement. this doesn't happen on a normal basis for me, but i wonder if it's only happened on the documents with this stipulation. our company fonts that i use 99% of the time are nunito sans and roboto slab.

So ID 2020 was just released. My first project in ID 2020 and this bug still persists! Maybe I should reconsider Quark?

I've encountered this issue intermittently for years! The issue pops up randomly, and usually will persist for the remainder of the day regardless of how many times I restart the computer or change file I'm working on.
I'm using a fairly powerful workstation, there should be no reason for the lag.I can confirm I have experienced this issue as far back as CS5.

The issue has appeared to have been fixed in one of the updates since I posted this back in 2017. Thanks for the prompt reply. You can close this issue.

Same problem for me! A lot of lags when I scroll down in a page with a few high resolution images!
