Send PDF comment status from InDesign back to originating PDF
I love and successfully use the Import PDF Comments function in InDesign. I work through them in ID and Accept and Mark Resolved them in the PDF Comments panel. But…
Feature request: please give us the option to send the comment status from the ID PDF Comments panel back to the originating PDF. Our workflow continues to use that original PDF for comparison with the new PDF to cross-check that the alterations were made. We don't necessarily want to turn our editors loose in our InDesign files thereby introducing the chance for unintended and unnoticed changes. Thank you. ~Signed,…

Download interactive PDF from Publish Online
I have posted an INTERACTIVE document on Publish Online, but when it is downloaded, all the interactivity is stripped out. What is the point of posting an interactive document if you can't download it as an interactive document! I have had to create a workaround to include a button IN the document that leads to an interactive PDF that I had to post separately on Google Drive to allow people to download the working PDF.

Convert graphics from RGB to CMYK
I use InDesign for a lot of print layout, and often graphics used/supplied (stock, photographs, etc.) are in RGB format. But for print I need these in CMYK format, and since ideas for which graphics to use and layouts change often before finalization I wait until the final OKs are given before converting graphics to CMYK.
The way I see this working is through the "Links" tab, although perhaps it could be done through the "Package..." function. In the Links tab, it would give me the option of right-clicking an RGB file and within that popup menu give me…

Failed to export pdf file - why?
The export process dies with the error mesage "Failed to export pdf file".
Please include the cause of the error! How can a simple user figure out what was the cause of the error? Practically the whole production process stops here, because inDesign continuously refuses to export the PDF.
I'm able to export the PDF 2-3 times, then the error comes. I can get rid of the error only by restarting the computer - obviously not a solution when working on catalogs.Dear IT team, please include what is the cause of the PDF export problem.

Data Merge - Pdf:{page number}
While performing a data merge, it would be nice to be able to include in my csv filename.pdf:{page number} (ie myfile.pdf:3) And have Indesign return the mentioned page in an image. Currently if I link a multi-page pdf, it will only show the first page.
Currently I have to break apart a pdf into individual pages to use as images in a data merge.
See row 2 in the attached for what it would be nice to have.
The other rows are examples of what is currently required.28 votes -
PDF Export Dialog
I still don't get the reason why you need to separate between Print and Interactive on PDF export at first stage where you choose your file format.
Please put make these options selectable in the PDF preset dialog insted.
It happens too oft to me that i don't look at the little format field at the bottom and just take attention to where i want to export my filesttoo and then am presented to the wrong dialog forcing me to abort the procedure to start over again.Thank you!

Allow upload of separate PDF
It would be nice if we could choose the PDF to be available for users to download. Sometimes interactivity creates pages that don't look good in PDFs. Sometimes companies simply have different PDFs they'd like to be downloaded.

Inserting multipage PDF into frames
I want to be able to insert multipage PDF file into Indesign in easier way, something like: create a frame, set settings, on the first page and then I want Indesign to create exact amount of pages as in PDF file and insert it automatically to box on each page with the same settings as the box on the first page. Thank you.

InDesign needs to export to PDF/UA
There is currently no option to export to PDF/UA compliant PDF files. PDF/UA is an ISO standard and base for compliance to accessibility laws.
Especially in the public sector, where you need to create documents that comply to accessibility regulations this is a must!
We plan to use InDesign to create accessible PDF forms at a public university in Austria. We are bound by laws to only use software, that allows us to produce accessible content. The creative cloud bundle and acrobat are industry standards, and it is not understandable, why InDesign as part of this suite does…

Data Merge - allow "export to PDF" to have all features of regular PDF
When using the data merge function of InDesign, it is currently not possible to export to a PDF with the same functionality as exporting a PDF from a regular document - several checkboxes such as "Create Tagged PDF" and include hyperlinks are greyed out. I've written a much more detailed article about it here: https://colecandoo.com/2016/12/17/data-merge-pdf-export-vs-regular-pdf-export/

Bigger preview in Import pdf panel
It is hard to see the PDF preview in the Import PDF panel.
It would be great if you could choose the size of the thumbnail or adjust the size of the entire panel.10 votes -
Allow to export interactive PDF with CMYK colorspace, or allow to include interactive elements into printable PDF
This feature is highly needed. And after all, it makes no sense: PDF format supports both interactive forms and CMYK tagged graphics, but for some reason it's impossible to combine PDF text boxes with CMYK graphics.
My current project, for example, needs a batch of interactive documents in which worker must fill necessary fields every day AND then print few thousands of copies. This operation must be performed manually and frequently.
And instead of creating single PDF with text box I'm forced to recreate required PDF with necessary data. It's illogical and meaningless.15 votes -
Download PDF in Share For review.
We want to be able to download PDF from Share for Review in Adobe CC Web. This feature was being tried out and got released accidentally and hence has been removed.
Please do it :) #GOADOBEDEVTEAM57 votes -
PDF comments
Would it be possible to make older versions of pdf comments available to import into Indesign? I tried the feature this morning, but it said I couldn't import because it was from an older pdf.
It would be nice to have this because not all clients/people in my organizations have access to get updated Adobe Acrobat Pro etc.

Convert paths in placed vector image to native paths
It is now finally possible to place SVG files as well as PDF files. That is great news for the many, many people who create logos and such things in SVG.
Everything you place, however, is still placed as completely uneditable images, which in many cases makes it somewhat useless. Especially with simple things like vector logos, it would be immensely useful to be able to convert the embedded vector paths in the placed file to native InDesign paths to adjust things like stroke colour, etc., in the actual InDesign document. Essentially, making it possible to use an SVG/PDF…

Option to convert colours to process when importing links
I work with files from numerous territories, so sometimes I import vector logos or illustrations and they have spot colours included in them, either by accident or the other territory has used a spot colour and my client doesn't want to. Could we have a way that InDesign can show a warning when importing new assets so that I can decide whether to convert all colours to process before dropping into my document? Or maybe have an additional warning box that allows me to convert before I export to PDF? This would remove production errors and delays at printing…

Preserve filename on PDF export
This is a common issue having looked around the internet for a solution...
PDF export uses the name of the file up until the point where a user changes the name of the PDF before export, then saves the file after the export is done. That changed name is then written into the file and used as this is the expected behaviour.
However, this becomes an issue if you are repurposing the same artwork at different sizes (for example) where you have to manually override the filename on each export.
It would be great if a future InDesign build had…
65 votesThe feature to “Preserve Filename on PDF Export” was introduced in InDesign 2019 in the PDF Export dialog.
The option is called “Use InDesign Document Name as the Output Filename”.Marking this Feature Request as Completed.

improve pdf comments!
Firstly, kudos on the improved PDF comments. They are much much faster. No comparison. Thank you. It also seems to be working (although not tested much) much better with mixed English and Hebrew.
However, if you look at the attached screenshot, ❶ the comment icon is small and b/w. It would be extremely helpful if this was large and ❷ just like in DC, the comments box wastes tons of space. It would be nice if the text was much larger. This was executed very nicely in Acrobat XI (ruined in DC which nobody can use now). Could you make…

PDF Tag Preview
PDFs have to be tagged properly for ADA compliance. It would be nice to be able to preview (in InDesign) what the tag structure will look like when exported to PDF. This would prevent having to return to the source file if there is inappropriate nesting of tags, incorrect tags, etc. This would be especially helpful with complicated (multi-level) lists.
