1. Type Menu - Change Case; would be wonderful if it could have Title Case with the option to not capitalize articles etc.

   Add a true Title Case option that follows standard publishing capitalization rules (e.g., Chicago), rather than capitalizing every word. Articles, coordinating conjunctions, and appropriate prepositions should remain lowercase, with first/last words and other required words capitalized.

2. Revision tracking when using Book feature

   I often use the Book feature to combine related files into a project. This could be different revisions of an ad for different publications, assets for identity (like business cards, letterhead, envelopes, etc.). This lets me collect and package the files in one folder without duplicating assets like fonts and shared graphics.

   If I make a change to a document and save it under a new name the .indb file will retain its link to the now obsolete file. I have to update the Book to use the new version. This I must to for each revision for each file until the project is complete.

   I would like InDesign to keep track of these files. If I have a Book file open and one of its associated documents, then do a Save As the program should see this as a possible new revision and ask if I want the Book updated to use the new file in place of the obsolete version. When this happens I should have an option to not ask again for this file. Be clear that "Don't ask again" refers only to this InDesign file or this .indb file, not all future Save As commands when using other Book files.

3. Hotkey change for space button [WIN] (Middle Mouse Button to pan around)

   Please, after years people demanding this, include a simple option to be able to change or modify the shortcuts for the Space Button (Pan). I for myself would love to add the middle mouse button, like it is in Illustrator to pan around.
   It's frustrating, that this company is absolutely not capable of unifying there basic stuff around all porgrams.

4. Allow Paragraph Borders and Shading to Inherit Text Color, Just Like Paragraph Rules

   InDesign already allows Paragraph Rules to use Text Color as their color source. I would like the same option to be available for Paragraph Borders and Paragraph Shading.

   At the moment, Paragraph Borders and Shading can only use a fixed swatch. This creates unnecessary manual work whenever the text color of individual paragraphs needs to vary while the same paragraph style is retained.

   For example, I am currently working on a publication in which many subheadings share the same typography, spacing, and border treatment, but the client wants different colors for different subheadings.

   Ideally, I should be able to use one paragraph style and simply change the text color of each subheading. The border should then automatically inherit that text color.

   Instead, I currently have to either:

   • manually change both the text color and the paragraph border color every time, or
   • create multiple nearly identical paragraph styles solely for different colors.

   Neither approach is efficient, and the second one unnecessarily complicates the style structure of the document.

   This becomes especially problematic in long documents or client-driven projects where colors may change frequently during revisions.

   A [Text Color] option in the Paragraph Border and Paragraph Shading color menus would solve this elegantly.

   The desired behavior could simply follow the existing logic already used by Paragraph Rules. In other words, this is not necessarily a new color-management concept for InDesign—it would be an extension of functionality that already exists elsewhere in the application.

   There was already a similar request posted several years ago, but this workflow limitation still exists in current versions of InDesign. I believe it is worth reconsidering because it would make paragraph styles substantially more flexible, especially for publications that use repeated structural styles with variable colors.

   Suggested implementation:

   Paragraph Style → Paragraph Border → Color → [Text Color]

   and

   Paragraph Style → Paragraph Shading → Color → [Text Color]

   This would allow designers to maintain a clean, reusable paragraph-style system without having to duplicate styles or manually synchronize decorative colors with text colors.

   InDesign already allows Paragraph Rules to use Text Color as their color source. I would like the same option to be available for Paragraph Borders and Paragraph Shading.

5. QR Code Pallet

   Qr Codes should have their own Workspace Pallet with at least the same options as the QR Monkey site.

   I used to use the PatternMaker plugin for InDesign, and it was so much more convenient to to have that pallet than it is to fumble through the menus every time I need a new one.

   Plus, PatternMaker placed the QR Code into an existing image box, so I didn't have to cut/paste the newly made code into the text flow of my 1000 page catalog.

7. InDesign language management needs improvement

   Dear Adobe Team,

   I am a long-time Adobe InDesign user and I would like to express my frustration regarding language management within the application.

   Despite having Creative Cloud configured in Italian, InDesign frequently switches back to English after updates. The only reliable solution appears to be uninstalling and reinstalling the application, which is extremely time-consuming and disruptive.

   Considering that InDesign is a professional product used worldwide, it is surprising that there is still no simple built-in option allowing users to switch the application interface language without reinstalling the software.

   Users working in international environments often need to switch between English and local language versions depending on clients, documentation and collaboration requirements. Requiring a full reinstall to change the interface language is not an acceptable workflow for a professional desktop publishing application.

   In addition, after some updates, user preferences, custom menus and workspace settings may be affected, creating additional inconvenience.

   I strongly encourage Adobe to implement a straightforward language selector directly within InDesign, similar to what many modern applications already provide.

8. Centering Logos Without Considering the ® Symbol

   It’s a small detail, but when a logo has a ® or ™ that makes its overall frame wider, I usually crop out the trademark, center the actual logo, and then undo the crop. I know the difference is negligible, but that’s just how I prefer to align things. Since Adobe keeps adding AI tools to InDesign, it would be nice to have an option that automatically ignores ® and ™ symbols when aligning a logo.

9. Edit Webp Option to have Photoshop

   For some reason when using the 'edit in' feature from the links panel or right click there is no option for photoshop for webp files. Even if you select the photoshop application on mac, it just opens the app file not allowing you to select photoshop.

   But you can edit webp files in photoshop, so this adds the step to right clicking revel in finder and then opening the image in photoshop from finder to edit it.

10. Streaming/Downloading Files from Cloud providors should be a non-blocking background event

    I imagine both MacOS and Windows provide some information about whether files are available locally or remotely. In either case, it would be beneficial for performance if InDesign did not block the interface while it was trying to open files that are not returned within a specific frame window (under 100ms seems reasonable).

    When a delay is encountered, draw the proxy or frame shape (if no proxy is available) and overlay a cloud or disk icon and some indication of loading progress. This would go a long way to directly communicate that InDesign has not crashed or otherwise failed in some way and that efforts are underway to load the files on canvas. This would also mean that scrolling to or past a page wouldn't lock up the interface when external files needing to be loaded.

11. hyperlink

    Currently if we embed URL link- hyperlink highlighting the word within a hidden text box, the link does not work. We have to create a multi-step setup using the Object States panel so the box appears before the link can be clicked. We have to create the text box for the hyperlink, having to match the line and indentation is a painful process when you decide to edit the main text box. There are few other steps to enabling this hyperlink box work, creating a trigger button etc. This seems quite inefficient and was hoping Adobe could enable users to click the word to embed the hyperlink within a hidden text box to work.

    When we export the file as interactive PDF, we have to open it via Adobe APP for all the interactive features to work.. is there anyway to make all the interactive features to work when we open the file as an online PDF view?

13. Allow users to move the colours and colour groups up and down the list under the drop-down menu at the top of the page

    Hi there,

    Please could anyone tell me if there is a way to (or why we cannot) reorder the colours in the drop-down colour palette…?

    I have created several colour groups and swatches (lower down the list than shown in the image below), but there doesn’t seem any easy way to simply reorder it so the colours and groups I use most are on the top… It would be so much easier if I could just move my favourite / regular colours by clicking on the line and moving it up or down the list. This would seem an easy thing to implement, but no-one seems to know why the functionality is not already there.

    What am I missing, and can anyone help?

    I note there is not even an “Adobe Indesign” category in the drop-down list for Feature Requests, so I’d like to know where I’m supposed to be sending this… ?

    Avoid repeated line beginnings and endings in Paragraph Composer

    In professional book typesetting, repeated beginnings or endings on consecutive lines can create distracting visual patterns. For example, several consecutive lines may begin with the same short word (“de”, “the”, “of”, etc.) or end with the same letters, syllables, words, or word endings.

    There are third-party tools that can detect some of these repetitions after the text has already been composed, but correcting them manually is extremely time-consuming. Fixing one occurrence may also recompose the paragraph and create another repetition a few lines later.

    InDesign already evaluates alternative line breaks, hyphenation and spacing when composing paragraphs. It would therefore be extremely useful if Adobe Paragraph Composer could also take repeated line beginnings and endings into account when choosing the best composition.

    I am not suggesting that repeated endings or beginnings should be absolutely prohibited. Instead, they could be treated as an additional composition penalty: if two possible paragraph compositions are typographically acceptable, InDesign could prefer the one that avoids an obvious repetition.

    Ideally, this could be configurable in Paragraph Style / Hyphenation or Justification options, for example:

    — Avoid repeated line endings
    — Avoid repeated line beginnings
    — Minimum number of matching characters: 2 / 3 / 4 / whole word
    — Number of consecutive lines to consider
    — Adjustable priority or penalty

    The feature should only alter the composition when an acceptable alternative exists within the paragraph's existing hyphenation and justification settings. It should not create poor spacing merely to avoid a repetition.

    This would be particularly valuable for books, novels and other long-form editorial work. In documents containing hundreds of pages, manually finding and correcting these visual repetitions can require many hours of typesetting work.

    InDesign's Paragraph Composer already considers the paragraph as a whole rather than composing every line independently. Adding repeated line beginnings and endings as another typographic factor in that calculation would make it an even more powerful tool for professional book composition.

    Change the format from JPEG to PNG after using Remove background directly in Adobe InDesign, so the final PNGs are usable without backgrounds. There is no use of removing backgrounds of JPEGs in big files when you cannot use them without the backgrounds. When one is working on a big catalogue filled with 1500 jpegs, one cannot change them into PNGs in InDesign. This feature would help a lot of graphic designers, I am sure of it. The solution would be simple for you – add menu for picking the format before applying of removing the background.

16. Pie charts and other charts

    Why are tables the limit for charts in indesign?

    I know we can make them in illustrator and copy them over/import them, but come on, this program should have this basic feature already.

    This is getting ridiculous, Indesign has been out since 1999 and that isn't counting the pagemaker predecessor from 1985....

    And y'all are focusing on ai slop instead. Please add more advance charts; etc. Get it together.

17. New Window directly from Page/Spread

    I'd like to have the option to create a new window/tab/view into a file from a specific page/spread. I keep my Pages panel open, so I'd want to be able to right click a page and open a new window (that I can place on another screen as a reference).

    My workaround would be to export as a PDF and open the relevant page in Acrobat on my second screen, or manually create a new window and then navigate to the relevant page.

    Being able to do this in a single step saves a small amount of time, but convenience is the grease that keeps our cogs turning instead of grinding, and minimizing frustrating tedium is a value all its own.

    I can see 3 entry points for this.
    1. from the right click menu on a page/spread within the Pages panel
    2. from context menu on a specific page canvas directly (kind of negates the benefit, but we don't have a duplicate view/new window already available there)
    3. as a drag operation, possibly with a modifier key, if you were to drag a page/spread out of the Pages panel, simulating the physical action of opening that page in a new tab/window.

    Why is it valuable? It saves several seconds of needless scrolling per session, per file. For folks work on much larger documents, it would naturally add up quickly (time saved).

18. Allow for Wider PDF Export

    Illustrator updated the maximum width years ago, can indesign please update this too.

    Sometimes when exporting large pdfs like banners, we need to export spreads up to 10 meters+, please allow this to be a feature, so it's easier to show a proof to a client .

19. Please create the SHARE FOR REVIEW link updateable as a standalone and not linked to just one indesign file.

    Here is what’s happening in my workflow.

    I create an indesign file (file_260729.ind) and share a link to clients for checking.

    Once the client adds their comments, i revise the indesign file and save it as (file_260730.ind) now I NEED to create a new share for review link for clients which makes it confusing for clients to follow especially if you're dealing with a number of clients, each commenting at their own pace.

    I have tried creating just one indesign MASTER file for client to check and just create an indesign copy for myself as archive BUT once i try to update the link, THE LINK ALWAYS END UP with ERRORS and refuses to update. (ARTIFACTS ERROR) it feels like it cannot handle heavy picture laden layouts.

    please create a fix for this. It’s a disruption to the client-creative process. 😓

    TLDR: too many links. just one link is buggy!

20. Paragraph Rules/Underline Skip Ink

    Can Paragraph Rules/Underlines be updated to have a 'skip ink' feature, similar to how figma works.

    For example, if I wanted to add a rule/underline below the word "example", I could choose for the line to go through the letter p or to skip any descenders adding in a gap to the line.
