Adobe InDesign: Feature Requests
When entering a new feature request, please provide:
1. Description
2. Why is this valuable to you?
Thank you.

Allow password-protected hosting, and hosting from a non-Adobe server
These two features would go a LONG way to making Publish Online a viable format for professional publishing. I'm sure many clients would pay an extra fee (nothing outrageous) for a self-hosted solution, if that would be necessary for Adobe to commit resources to make this happen.

Publish Online for INDB (book) file
Please extend Publish Online to Books. I use recurring elements as chapters in presentations and would like to publish online instead of exporting and transmitting PDF files.

Update the analytics feature on the Publish Online Dashboard so you can see all the individual analytics for each document
Currently on the overview you can see many analytics for all your documents combined, but on the document trends screen, only views and readers are available. It would be helpful to offer our clients more specific analytics.
25 votesDear All,
The feature is implemented and is already available in latest InDesign release
Please upgrade InDesign to the latest version to use this feature.
Thanks

Allow different users to update the same document on the publish online feature
I currently work on a team of three designers, and we sometimes work on each other's files. Currently, if there is an update to a file that has been published online, and we need to upload a new version of a document, we have to figure out which of the three of us originally uploaded the file and have them update it. It would be easier if we could update each other's files rather than asking the original designer to stop what they are doing to update a project.

Please add # of downloads to the analytics for Publish Online
Analytics should keep track of how many people download the PDF of published document. This would be extremely helpful, and I haven't seen an improvements since Publish Online was introduced.

Download interactive PDF from Publish Online
I have posted an INTERACTIVE document on Publish Online, but when it is downloaded, all the interactivity is stripped out. What is the point of posting an interactive document if you can't download it as an interactive document! I have had to create a workaround to include a button IN the document that leads to an interactive PDF that I had to post separately on Google Drive to allow people to download the working PDF.

publish online accessibility
Since the web has accessibility standards and guidelines, the documents created and hosted online using Publish Online should follow those guidelines, at least the most basic parts.
For example, a screen reader cannot read out any text on the pages because all the text is embedded into images. This makes the documents unusable for anybody with vision difficulties.
Please consider adding an option to create these files with the actual text saved as HTML paragraphs, headers, lists, anchors, etc. This would make it suitable for the web and much more appealing.

Remove the menu bar from Publish Online when in full screen mode and make sure any remote clicker device can be used to present.
Several users in our practice would like to present animated InDesign presentations using Publish Online.
However nobody likes the menu bar appearing across the bottom of the screen, it's very distracting for anyone presenting onscreen.
Also, most people presenting onscreen would use a remote clicker to move through the slides, as you would in a PowerPoint presentation. However the remote clicker does not work with Publish Online. I would say that I could move our entire practice, with over 1,000 users over to Publish Online from PowerPoint if these two major factors were addressed. It's a shame because they are…17 votes -

Allow password protection on published documents
Separating this from hosted service, because I suspect moving to a hosted service is a bit more complicated. Having password protection would help folks monetize published documents and be a step toward security.

InDesign Publish Online Available Offline
Would it be possible to create a PublishOnline PDF that supported all the features and functionality of a PublishOnline document but without browser restrictions.
Currently we love the PublishOnline and use it for professional client work but it is limited due to cross browser compatibility issues and limitations.

Forms!
Please make a form options in Publish.
And a cool thing would be if you could see the "data" of the form under the Analytics tab.
No more sending out pdf forms, that would defiantly be nice :)

Team memberships: Have a central place for all publications to be published online accessible for all to edit/get stats.

Expand Publish Online function to work with InDesign book documents as well as individual documents.
Need to be able to use the Publish Online function for an entire book, instead of just for individual chapters.

Allow upload of separate PDF
It would be nice if we could choose the PDF to be available for users to download. Sometimes interactivity creates pages that don't look good in PDFs. Sometimes companies simply have different PDFs they'd like to be downloaded.

Allow removal of the "publish online" button that appears when you embed a published InDesign document.

Publish Online: comment mode
It should be possible to comment on specific parts of the page. Like in www.invisionapp.com So it could be possible to discuss an artwork with my client. Like I'm doing with PDF-comments at the moment. But in this case I could reply and discuss more. (show more than one versions of one page would be excellent!)

Ideas to improve PublishOnline document navigation
I often get reports back from clients and users that 'there is only one page in that online link you sent'. I figure if I get a report back like this, there must be a fair few more who experience this but don't report back...
Viewing a PDF document online via a UI like this is not a common experience for many user types. To improve their experience I propose:
– An option to always show the page thumbnail selector.
– Larger, more prominent page left and right arrows.
– Option to advance through pages on scroll down (or view…9 votes -
InDesign CC - Publish Online - Change of Background Color
It appears you cannot define the background color of the webpage that delivers the EPUB image.
My catalog has the same color as the background so my pages blend in with the background.
InDesign > Preferences > Interface, will change the background in the InDesign file but once uploaded it defaults back to the dark Gray9 votes -
Publish Online: Sharper elements
InDesign seems to convert vector-based elements (linked eps/AI etc.) in JPGs when I publish online. But that's not sharp. Even with 144dpi (Retina Display …). But text is sharp … Is it possible to have alle the same sharp?! (if not the clients ask: why is the text sharp and these elements not?!) Maybe convert to svg or show a PDF …???
