1. Place multi-page PDF pages: Place Gun will be unloaded after first page is placed to a frame

   New bug with InDesign 17.2 that I cannot see with InDesign 17.1.

   [1] Load multiple PDF pages from a multi-page PDF to the place gun.
   [2] Hover the loaded cursor over a graphic frame to place the first page in that frame
   [3] Click to place the first page.

   Result:
   The first page is placed to the frame

   BUG: The rest of the loaded PDF pages in the place gun are unloaded. The place gun is empty after you placed the first of several pages to a frame.

   WHAT WORKS:
   [1] Load multiple PDF pages from a multi-page PDF to the place gun.
   [2] Draw out new frames with the loaded cursor to place one page after another

   We've just released InDesign 17.2.1 version which fixes this issue.

2. For long documents containing more than 50K characters, GREP search fails to find all matching instances

   Since updating to CC 14.0.2 on Windows, GREP search is no longer functioning properly. Not all instances of queries are found, or not found at all.
   I believe this is the case when working on documents created in an older version. In a newly created document it does work as it should.

3. Export to JPG generates yellow horizontal lines

   yellow lines in all my image exports (PNG / JPG)... When giving it more pixels/inch the lines change position and are less wide.

   Fix for this issue is now available in the latest update of InDesign 2021 – that is, InDesign 16.2.1

   In the Creative Cloud Desktop application, click on the Updates section on the left. You should be able to see the Update available for InDesign. Please update your InDesign application to this version to try out the fix.

4. InDesign CC2019 - blank control panel

   Just installed InDesign CC2019. Bizarrely the control panel containing the adjustment controls with character and paragraph setting is there but empty. I tried turning off and on, and resetting the workspace but to no avail. Resetting preferences on start up has worked but feel this could happen again.

   Thank you for your patience all this while.
   This issue is now fixed in the latest update (Id 14.0.1) of InDesign CC.
   If you are unable to see the update notification yet, open the menu (three dots) from the top-right of Creative Cloud desktop application and click on ‘Check For App Updates’.

   Once the update button is shown against InDesign CC, click on the button to update your InDesign to Id 14.0.1 for the fix of the issue.
   Do let us know in the comments, if you face any problem with the new update.

5. Mouse-click in menus becomes disabled

   InDesign 12.1.0.56; macOS Sierra 10.12.5; Magic Mouse

   The issue varies with any file. I have mostly seen this occur when in the Find/Change window, or when I try and select a font. My mouse will not be able to click (select) anything in the drop down menus. I am able to select with my keyboard by using the arrows and "return" key. To get the mouse to click (select) an option from a drop down menu, I must first restart InDesign and then open the same file.

6. [macOS Sonoma]White Screen on drawing marquee/highlighting text in CPU and Overprint Preview modes

   Hi,

   Since I've updated my mac mini to Sonoma, when I use InDesign, the documents flash every time I click on it. If I click and hold, the screen become completely white. This is very annoying, almost impossible to work.

7. Indesign 2021 (16.0) IDLK file do not lock

   It is currently possible that two users are able to open the same Indesign file. I am working on a network volume via VPN and it was possible for my colleague to open the same file i was working with. The *.idlk file was generated but it seems that it would not be recognized from the other Indesign my colleague was using.

   I tried to reproduce this issuue with Indesign 2020 and all worked fine as expected.

   This is an enormous issue for collaboration with other colleagues at the same projects.

8. [ID-4224413]JPG 300dpi export with horizontal lines

   When I export photo albums as JPG with the latest version, some images have horizontal lines. I've had the problem since macOS 10.14. (now catalina) and with older Indesign versions. If I change the size or position of the image, the stripes may disappear. If I use the DPI e.g. set to 301, the lines will also disappear.

   To identify the cause of this issue, we started our investigation with the aim to resolve it. You might have also received an email from us seeking more details to help in our investigation.

   We’ve concluded our investigation and came up with the following: Either the issue is fixed in the latest release of InDesign or the issue was intermittent at the time of its reporting and is not reproducible now.

   We recommend you upgrade to the latest version of InDesign 2025(v20.0.0.095) as it is more robust and contains a lot of bug fixes.

9. Can't drag objects

   I am unable to drag objects/textbox/etc in InDesign. I can resize using corner handles but I'm unable to click and drag object to desired location I've uninstalled, reinstalled, shutdown, restarted, cleared all settings, etc and nothing seems to work. I have never encountered this issue in all my years of using InDesign. Please help!

   Addressing this problem has been tricky for us given the random nature of the issue.
   Determined to resolve the issue, we had launched our investigation into the matter to identify the root cause and fix it.

   Many of you must have received email from us seeking more details about the issue.

   We have concluded our investigation and came up with the below mentioned finding:

   It was found that, most of the times, users were trying to drag an empty polygon which was leading the confusion because the legacy behaviour of InDesign allows dragging of polygon only from its edges or the centre most point.
   If the user tries to drag it from any other position, the object cannot be moved.

   We have tried to improve the user experience in this regard. You can try the same in InDesign’s latest version id 14.0.3.

   Please download and install id 14.0.3 and let us know your feedback on the new experience.

   Note:
   If you are unable to drag other types of objects (other than empty polygons), please check the memory usage of your system. It has been observed that when the memory usage reaches the critical level, dragging of the objects become difficult.
   As a workaround, you may either try to close some applications or restart the system.

11. [ID-4244288]Problem with Variable fonts - some glyphs are displayed with a lighter weight on changing axes.

    Some variable fonts works as expected, but for some, the font displays at a lighter weight (perhaps regular?) when the weight is set for anything heavier than about 750. It appears that the heavier weight's metrics are used.

    In my my limited test, the weight prints properly.

    I'm on a 27-inch, iMac 2020, Mac OS 13.5.1, InD 19.

13. Forced line breaks within text variables introduces an unavoidable letter space

    When a forced line break is inserted within text that is used for a variable, a random, unavoidable letter space is introduced into the variable text.
    There are obvious workarounds, but a solution to this would be really convenient.

14. Share for Review strikethrough & highlight from online edits aren't visible in InDesign

    InDesign Vs. 16 Share for Review: if the reviewer uses the strikethrough text or highlight option, I don't see these in my indesign doc. I can see the strikethrough text on the browser version, but the highlight disppears completely. The review comment is in both places, just not what it's referencing.

15. Arabic exported to EPUB (Fixed Layout) doesn't show properly

    • InDesign 15.1.2 / Mac OS 10.15.6

    • Create an InDesign document with Arabic content. Apply any Arabic font.

    • When exporting to EPUB (Fixed Layout) we should see the Arabic text appear in the epub viewer in similar manner as it shows in InDesign document.

    • The exported epub document is viewed in Apple's Books application, and Adobes Digital Editions 4.5 with similar problems in both epub viewers, where all Arabic text is either invisible or messed up and shifted from its location.

    • Attached images from InDesign document, and epub file which was exported from InDesign.

16. InDesign CC 2018/High Sierra - Cannot package files

    Since updating to High Sierra I am not able to package files. The error message is simply "Unable to package the document. InDesign cannot access '(file name'.indd).

    I am using InDesign CC 13.0.1 on macOS High Sierra 10.13.1

    Don't know if this is of any use or not, but also if I try using my bulk packaging script, the error I get is "undefined is not an object (line 186)

    Hello All,
    The issue has been fixed with Apple’s MacOS High Sierra 10.13.4 Beta (17E139).

    You can try out the fix by updating your machine to the beta update from Apple.

17. [Limited Undo] InDesign CC 2019 (v14.0) strg+z / cmd+z doesn't work properly

    With the new Version the option to go back some steps seems to be cut at some point. I have been working on a couple of files now and going steps back with strg+z works for 2-3 steps. Somehow random but definitely not the way it used to work.

18. Do not use Osaka font for PDF page information

    When exporting a PDF with the Japanese version of InDesign for Mac, the Osaka font is used for the characters in the page information. If there are voiced or semi-voiced sound marks of Japanese characters in the file name, an error will be displayed and the characters will be garbled because Osaka does not support those characters.

    1. Name the indd file "だじづでど.indd".
    2. Export the PDF.
    3. An error is displayed and the file name of the page information is garbled.

    Osaka is no longer a very old font on the Mac. Don't use Osaka now.

    Use a font that supports semi-voiced sound marks to prevent errors. Illustrator already uses KozGoPr6N-Regular to prevent errors.

    PDFのページ情報にOsakaフォントを使わないでください

    日本語版のMac版InDesignでPDFを書き出すと、ページ情報の文字にOsakaフォントが使われます。ファイル名に日本語の文字の濁音や半濁点があると、Osakaがそれらの文字に非対応なので、エラーが表示され、文字化けします。

    This issue has been fixed in the latest update of InDesign 2022 - version 17.3

    Please update to this latest version of InDesign using Creative Cloud Desktop Application to get the fix.

19. Navigation Points Not Available to Scripting in InDesign 2021 (16.0)

    Problem Description:
    Querying navigation points inside a movie trigger errors from InDesign 16.

    Steps to Reproduce:
    1. Query movie.navigationPoints.length or movie.navigationPoints.count() with Extendscript.

    The following script shows this issue(s) with simple document containing a move and one button with a play at navigation point action applied.

    var btn = app.activeDocument.buttons[0];
    var beh = btn.behaviors[0];
    var mov = beh.movieItem;
    var navPts = mov.navigationPoints;
    try{
    alert(navPts.length); /doesn't exist/
    }catch(err) { alert([err,err.line])}

    alert(navPts.count()); /*Give incorrect error - Error: Request failed because the underlying functionality is no longer available in the current version of the application */
    }catch(err) { alert([err,err.line])}

    alert(navPts.everyItem().getElements().length); /incorrectly says zero, when there are 2 navigation points/

    Actual Result:
    Each produces two separate errors.

    Expected Result::
    Both should be valid queries.

    Any Workarounds:

    No. Expected functionality is simply missing.

    movie.navigationPoints.everyItem().getElements().length at least doesn't produce an error, but it also doesn't include navigation points.

    This feature was added back to InDesign, but the scripting of it was neglected. I've filed a bug in prerelease as well. Posting here so others are aware.

20. Scroll bar disappears in Pages panel, swatches panel,Layers panel and background task panel loses its boxes on the right.

    2017.1 Release, 12.1.0.56 x64 build

    The pages panel loses its scroll bar and doesn't display all pages. Panel needs to be opened wide to display anything. This cuts off easy access to document's later pages.
