Indesign 2021 (16.0) IDLK file do not lock
It is currently possible that two users are able to open the same Indesign file. I am working on a network volume via VPN and it was possible for my colleague to open the same file i was working with. The *.idlk file was generated but it seems that it would not be recognized from the other Indesign my colleague was using.
I tried to reproduce this issuue with Indesign 2020 and all worked fine as expected.
This is an enormous issue for collaboration with other colleagues at the same projects.

Thanks for reporting. We will review the issue.

I honestly don't know why it takes Adobe so long to fix this issue?? From what I've noticed the past years, quantity overrules quality ... very stupid bugs in new releases ... Again, ... Adobe ... fix. this!

*Update: the temporary lock file was only the case with an .indd that had not been converted to 2021 format. After opening in 2021 then saving the .indd, lock file is now persistent. However, a major issue still exists. When I have a layout open, if anyone else has the same layout open [Read-Only] I cannot save my work. InDesign will not Save with the message that the file is open elsewhere. After all read-only copies are closed, I can save, but that seems to defeat the purpose of opening a file read-only. Any assistance will be much appreciated.
InDesign 16.0.1 on Mac OS 10.14.6 and 10.15.7 creates the lock file but the lock file only exists for the duration of the file open operation. As soon as the .indd file is fully open, the lock file is deleted. (see recording)
This is key to collaboration so we will likely revert to InDesign version 15. Thanks for your help fixing this issue! -

We are having the same issue with InDesign 2021. Pages opening as read-only due to the fact that someone else is already in the page and if you don't know it's read-only and you make amendments it is only when you try to save the page you realise, it's very frustrating and could cause major errors. Please could you let us know how to solve this issue!

Please fix this bug asap, it's really dangerous for server-based workflow.

Having the same issue on a network share. This is going to cause a big problem, potential for the wrong ad to go to publication.

I have noticed this issue as well, and it is a big problem for our server-based workflow.
If someone on our team opens a file that is already open from another device, the file becomes read-only in both instances, and changes cannot be saved.
I cannot find anything referring to IDLK settings or preferences, if anything like that even exists.
If this is an issue that we can try to fix from our setup, I'm open to suggestions or a thread to look into.
