  3. 19.2 Arabic version, missing periods in exported PDF

In an exported pdf, periods (or other ending characters) at the end of paragraphs are missing, if the paragraphs were aligned right or justified in the original English version.
The time-consuming work-around option is to make the period LTR char direction.

  4. Spellcheck Bug

Spellcheck/User Dictionary keeps defaulting to random languages and cannot not be changed. I've changed my preferences to English (US) several times manually and it will not fix the problem. Please fix this bug.

  5. Spellcheck marking correctly spelled words as incorrect

Using the most current version of CC ID
I always have dynamic spelling turned on, and my dictionary is set to English USA, however, some files appear to have flagged correctly spelled words as incorrect, while other files appear to be normal. Screenshot examples, 'Dark' and 'Inspiration'.

The issue seemed to come on randomly
Saving as IDML does not fix the issue, nor does restarting the program

  6. Use Auto-Sizing and Text Wrap Frame on causes application crash

Environment: InDesign 2020 (15.0.2 Japanese version) + macOS (confirmed with 10.15.3 and 10.14.6)

    • create and connect two text frames
    • set Auto-Sizing "Height and Width" on Text Frame Options
    • Insert text into two frames full
    • overlay graphic frames with Text Wrap settings ON
    • move the graphic frame appropriately (drawing is not normal at this point)
    • close documents with Command + W

During this operation, you will usually be asked to confirm the save, but suddenly InDesign will end and the application will crash.
Also, if you try while overwriting with Command + S without Command + W, you may not be…

    Thanks

  7. Missing glyphs in a Right-to-Left Paragraph direction

    1. InDesign Middle Eastern Version 18.4.0.56

    2. Steps to reproduce the issues:
      a. In Preferences>Composition>Highlight, turn on Highlight for missing glyphs.
      b. Type in a text box open and closing parenthesis.
      c. Toggle between Right-to-Left and Left-to-Right Paragraph direction.

    3. Expected result: Missing glyphs should not be affected by paragraph direction.

    4. Actual result: When the direction becomes Right-to-Left the parenthesis are highlights as missing glyphs.

    Additional Information:
If you type one Hebrew letter before and after the parenthesis, the parenthesis will be highlighted with missing glyphs also on Left to Right Paragraph direction.

I tried with various fonts, all behave the same. Today…

  8. spelling

I am using InDesign 15.0.1 with the English (UK) dictionary. The spell check doesn't work at all - the dynamic spelling feature underlines every single word. I finally upgraded to CC from CS6 because InDesign v8.0 had started doing the same thing, but it still has the same issue.

  9. Auto tag XML Broken

    1) InDesign 19.5 Swedish version
    2) Create a new empty document, add some pictures, draw a text frame and insert a table, choose "Add untagged items" (or whatever the English wording is, in Swedish it is "Lägg till objekt utan märkord")
    3) PageItems should be tagged with the Tags choosen in Tagging options (Artikel, Tabell, Cell, Bild in Swedish, Article, Table, Cell, Image, in English)
    4) Items are wrongly added with "Figure" tag

  10. Fonts' OpenType features not working in Composite fonts in InDesign

When using any Hebrew font in InDesign, the diacritics (nikuds) are displayed in their correct location. This location is set within the fonts by using OpenType features such as ccmp (for glyph substitution) and mark (for glyph positioning). InDesign recognizes and applies these features.

When this font is used as part of a Composite font in InDesign, the result is quite different. It seems like the ccmp feature is honored but the mark feature is not.

The diacritics shift and the length of the text increases. Some of this fluctuation can be mitigated by Diacritics Position feature in InDesign however…

The fix of the issue is now available in the latest InDesign 2021(v16.0.0.77). We recommend you upgrade to the latest version for the fix.

If you are unable to see the update, go to the Creative Cloud application and click on the context menu on the top right and click on Check for App Updates.

  12. Word Import | BUG | Diacritic characters change language and formatting

    Hi together,
if a Word docx or doc document contains text in italics that are not formatted using a character style diacritic characters will import to InDesign with:

[1] Wrong language property. Instead of e.g. English (US) it will be Arabic
[2] Formatting is in "Regular" and not in "Italic"

For more details see this thread at the Adobe InDesign Forum:

  13. Language.

    My InDesign is in Hungarian.
I would like to change it to English.
Even though I have uninstalled, changed the language preferences and installed it again, it remained in Hungarian.
I have tried 3 times. It was very boring.
Your help support said it is because I use my Windows in Hungarian.
This is not true, because Photoshop is in English for instance.
    Change this!
If I set InDesign to English, it should be in English, no matter what language Windows is using,

  14. Wrong translation of "Art" in German version of InDesign 2020

In prior versions of InDesign one import option for AI and PDF files used to be "Objekt" which is still used in the online help document while InDesign shows probably the original English word "Art" which is confusing since this word also exists in German language but makes no sense in this context.

  20. drop shadow issues

    Hello!

I'm trying to do an A3 poster with two layers:
Layer one: A rectangle a white-black gradient fill and some line option and drop shadow applied.
Layer two: Some text frames with white text with black strokes.

When I add drop shadow to the text it looks just as intended on screen.

But when I print it out on a big, expensive Samsung X7600 Series printer, I get a kind of gradient color in bottom of text frames. As if I had applied some color to the frame.
(Please see the attached file "indd cc print screen".)

    I have…
