1. indesign gets stuck in opening a document without the fonts

   The software gets stuck in opening a document without the fonts!!! till the Missing font window will appear
   That's crazy!
   I just want to check an old file or look for a detail and I HAVE TO WAIT A MINUTE and Meanwhile all the documents are STUCK!!
   WHY??

2. PDF Comments not hiding

   PDF Comment import does not hide comments on the layout after the Hide Comments on Layout button is pressed.

   The following is the process I followed:
   - Displayed the PDF Comments pane in InDesign.
   - Imported comments from PDF's.
   - Selected the Hide Comments on Layout Button in the PDF Comments pane.
   * Comments are hidden from view.
   - Leave the InDesign window
   - Return to InDesign, and some of the comment boxes are shown, some are not shown, and some are partially shown (the box is cut in half).
   - Move cursor over the Show Comments on Layout button. Can confirm that it notes Show comments and not Hide Comments.
   - Click Show Comments on Layout and all the comment boxes appear again
   - Click Hide Comments on Layout and they all disappear again.
   - Leave the window, and return.
   * Half the boxes are there, the other half missing and some show partially.

   I have added an example of this; please ignore the smudges. That was me.

3. Can not create PDF, links apparently broken?

   Hi guys,

   Indesign links panel appears fine but when I goto export to pdf it comes up with "This document contains links to files that are not accessible..." they are linked to my local hard rive? Extremely frustrating, there must be a simple remedy?

4. The software window's focus jumps between multiple desktops.

   When I create multiple desktops on the same monitor, I drag the InDesign window to another desktop for work, and after a few operations within the software, the focus of the screen will immediately jump to the other desktop. System: macOS 26.2

5. [ID-4273456] Press the opt/alt key after dragging, it duplicated to the incorrect layer

   InDesign 2026 （and earlier, too）I was found out in CS6.

   Issue:
   When drag and duplicate any object, the duplicate destination will be the previous active layer under certain conditions.

   Reproduction procedure:
   1 Layer panel "Paste Remembers Layers" check off
   2 Unselect, and duplicate the object Activate layers other than the layers of the object
   3 Start dragging and add the option/alt key in the middle of dragging
   4 After dragging, the object is duplicated to the layer that was active in step 2

   Ideal result:
   The uplication by dragging will be duplicated to the same layer as the original regardless of any setting.

   I really hope to correct it.

   2 選択を解除し、複製するオブジェクトのレイヤー以外のレイヤーをアクティブにする
   3 ドラッグを開始し、ドラッグの途中でoption/altキーを追加する
   4 ドラッグ終了後、オブジェクトは手順2でアクティブだったレイヤーに複製される

   理想の結果
   ドラッグによる複製はいかなる設定にも関係なくオリジナルと同一のレイヤーに複製されること

   修正をすごく希望します。

6. Widows/ Orphans/ Runts

   Please allow us to automatically apply No Break GREP style .{10}$ without needing to create a "No Break" style and applying it to paragraph styles individually.

   In the Paragraph window, a checkbox next to "Hyphenate" that reads "Remove Runts" or "No Short Break" executes this process automatically would be wonderful. It seems logical since I imagine the automatic "Hyphenate" works in a similar way.

7. some pages are not displayed

   when scrolling, some pages are not displayed (always the same). The work plan remains black. You have to double-click twice in the pages panel (where they remain displayed) to see them displayed on the desktop.
   My document has 116 pages and 18 layers.

   Please upgrade to the new InDesign 14.0 from your Creative Cloud Application.

9. CC2019 when Exporting to PDF does not remember the filename you have given it

   When exporting a PDF, InDesign normally remembers the name you have previously given the PDF you are exporting - CC2019 does not.

   Example: you have an InDesign document named 'Hello'. You go to export it and InDesign automatically gives it the exported PDF name 'Hello.pdf' in the 'Save As' window as expected, but you rename it 'Goodbye.pdf' instead. If you ever want to export it again InDesign CC2019 no longer remembers 'Goodbye.pdf' as previous versions of InDesign, but reverts back to 'Hello.pdf' - so you have to rename it each time.

   In the Export dialog, there is an option at the bottom called “Use InDesign Document Name as the Output Filename.” You can uncheck that option to remember the output filename you have given instead of InDesign defaulting to the document name.

10. Workspace

    In the latest version of InDesign (2026 / 21.1), my custom workspaces do not work properly.
    I have always manually created 2 workspaces based on my most used tools in all previous versions of ID. However in the latest relaese, whenever I start the program or when I reset my workspace it loads certain panels which are not open when I save the workspace. Most notibly the History, Gradient and CC Libraries panels keep coming back.

12. [ID-4239165]InDesign fails to open or place files with long paths in Windows

    InDesign fails to open or place files with long paths in Windows. The "Long Paths Enabled" registry setting is enabled (i.e. it is set to 1). The problem affects several functions:

    1. From Bridge, Place > In Indesign causes "Script Alert: Error: Expected a reference to an existing File/Folder"

    2. DataMerge in InDesign: images with long paths are skipped, i.e. aren't merged. There is no error message.

    3. From InDesign. I cannot manually place a file with a long path through the “Place” dialog box. The dialog box will display the folder and thumbnails, but when I click the image to place it, I get the following error: “The file could not be opened. You may not have permission or the file may be in use by another application.”

    All of these symptoms suggests that InDesign does not support Long Paths in Windows.

13. Specific circumstances where an RGB black cannot change to CMYK

    To replicate this fault, please do the following:
    1) Create a new document using the web workspace.
    2) In the new document, open the swatches palette and note that the default colours show the RGB color spaces.
    3) From the Edit Menu, go to transparency blend space and change it from RGB to CMYK.
    4) Go to document setup and change the intent of the document from web to print.

    What SHOULD happen:
    All colours in the swatches panel should go to CMYK;

    What ACTUALLY happens:
    All colours in the swatches panel remain RGB. This results in an RGB black that cannot be changed, whilst other colours can be changed to CMYK.

    Workaround:
    1) Set the Transparency Blend Space back to RGB.
    2) Go to the document setup and change its intent back to Web.
    3) Once the intent is changed, go to document setup again and change its intent to Print.
    All colours now go to CMYK, along with the transparency blend space

    To replicate this fault, please do the following:
    1) Create a new document using the web workspace.

14. Create Merged Document causes Indesign to hang and crash

    1. Version of Adobe InDesign, InCopy or InDesign Server: Adobe InDesign 2021 v16.4 macOS Big Sur 11.6
    2. Steps to reproduce the issues: Select Data Source in Data Merge panel options Assign data placement field in document's master page Click "Create Merged Document..." in Data Merge panel options
    3. Expected result: InDesign should insert data from selected source document and create new pages for all records.
    4. Actual result: Source document is imported correctly, and preview in Data Merge panel displays correct data, but when I click "Create Merged Document..." in Data Merge panel options it cause Indesign to hang, the application stops responding and I need to Force Quit. 15. When I save out an IDML version of my INDD 2022 v17.0 file, the text boxes from my Master page are in a different location on every spread.

    Also, when I tried opening my INDD file in an older version (INDD v1.64) nothing happened. My file did not appear in the window, so I couldn't "go back" to an older version of INDD.

16. Generative AI Alt Text generated on first image place when turned off in preferences

    M4 Mac on Sequoia 15.7.7

    When Generative AI Alt Text is turned off in preferences, after a complete preferences reset, alt text will be generated and applied to the first placed image or modified image despite the preference being turned off. This happens on a complete replacement of the folder "en_US" in the user library preferences.

    To recreate:
    1) Have someone else on another machine set their preference to have Generative AI Alt Text turned off. Send you their copy of the folder "en_US" (/Users/[user]/Library/Preferences/Adobe InDesign/Version 21.0)
    2) Replace your folder with the shared folder
    3) Open InDesign
    4) Place an image

    What happens:

    -On first image place or modify, Generative AI Alt Text will be generated even though it is turned off in Preferences. There will also be a pop up advertising Generative AI. This will only happen on the first image. Every image that is placed or modified after this will respect the preferences and not apply alt text. When the "en_US" folder is reset again, it will happen again.

    Why this is a problem:
    We work in an Enterprise environment where custom builds and preferences are pushed out to >1K users and a replacement of the "en_US" folder is used to troubleshoot and rebuild for users. We cannot have this feature used on our commercial products and because it looks like this is "off" in the preferences, users may not realize they introduced this into their file.

17. Bottom toolbar/scroll bar dissapears when in fullscreen mode

    At first i thought it was my monitors, but it also does it when I have InDesign open on my laptop. I'm running the latest Microsoft update, and when I select Fullscreen on the InDesign window, the bottom bar disappears, so I'm unable to use the bottom scrollbar. It only re-appears when i minimize the window

18. indesign cc 2018 erratic display behaviour

    Issues with linked images and vector shapes just going invisible and unselectable even though they are still in the links panel.

    This bug makes it difficult to work, and leads to adding a huge number of linked images since I think they are not on the page.

19. Bug Report and Feature Request for IME Input on macOS When Inline Input Is Disabled

    I would like to report an issue with IME (Input Method Editor) input and request improvements to the way InDesign handles non-Latin text input, such as Japanese.

    1. InDesign Version
       InDesign 21.5.1
       The same issue also occurs in earlier versions.
       Confirmed on macOS 15.7.9, but the issue also occurs on other versions of macOS.

    2. Steps to Reproduce
       a. disable Preferences > Advanced Type > Input Method Options > Use &Inline Input for Non-Latin Text

    Additional Information
    1. Performance when Inline Input is enabled
    When a story contains a large amount of text, Apply Inline Input to Non-Latin Text causes input and display updates to become extremely slow.
    For this reason, there are cases where I need to work with this option disabled.

    1. IME window position
       As shown in the attached screenshots, the position of the IME window differs between InDesign 2023 and earlier versions and InDesign 2024 and later versions.
       In both cases, however, the IME window cannot be moved away from the edge of the screen.
       For example, I may place the text cursor in the center of the screen, but the IME window appears at the edge of the screen while I am entering and converting text. This forces me to look back and forth between the cursor position and the edge of the screen, which significantly disrupts the input workflow and is very tiring.

    2. Customizable IME window size and position
       I would like the IME window to be freely resizable and movable by the user.
       Its size and position should also be preserved and restored the next time InDesign is launched.

    b. 文字ツールでストーリー内のテキストを選択したまま、和字を入力

    取り消しが3回必要である。

    1. インライン入力を有効にした際のパフォーマンス低下
       ストーリーが大量のテキストを含む場合「ラテン文字以外にインライン入力を適用」では入力と表示の更新があまりにも遅くなるため、オフで作業をしたい場合があります。

    2. IMEウィンドウの位置
       添付画像の通り、2023以前と2024以降でIMEウィンドウの出現位置が異なりますが、いずれも画面の端から動かせません。画面の中央にカーソルを立てて、画面の端で文字を入力・変換するため、視点の移動が激しく入力作業が滞ってしまい、とても疲れます。

    3. IMEウィンドウのサイズと位置をカスタマイズ可能にしてほしい
       IMEウィンドウのサイズと位置をユーザーが任意に変形・移動、またそれを次回アプリ起動時にも保持されてほしいです。

    I would like to report an issue with IME (Input Method Editor) input and request improvements to the way InDesign handles non-Latin text input, such as Japanese.

    1. InDesign Version
       InDesign 21.5.1
       The same issue also occurs in earlier versions.
       Confirmed on macOS 15.7.9, but the issue also occurs on other versions of macOS.

    2. Steps to Reproduce
       a. disable Preferences > Advanced Type > Input Method Options > Use &Inline Input for Non-Latin Text
       b. Using the Type tool, place the text cursor in a story and enter CJK text while text is selected.
       c. Undo the text input.

20. File rename

    InDesign 13.0 running Mac OX 10.12.6

    If and INDD file is renamed in the Finder when it's open in InDesign, saving the file will cause an error dialog to appear saying "Changes cannot be save as InDesign can no longer access the '[filepath:newfilename]' file. Place the file in the original location and try again." This error message appears whether trying to do a simple save or even Save As.

    This error appears even though both the window header and the file name in the error message both reflect the changed (not the original) file name.

    Unless file is restored to original file name, there is no way to save changes.

    Being able to rename files from the Finder while the files are still open in InDesign is a feature that InDesign has supported for years.

    Thank you for your support. The issue is now fixed in the latest update of InDesign.
    Please upgrade to the new InDesign 14.0 from your Creative Cloud Application.

    If you are unable to see the update yet, click on the menu (three dots) on the top right corner of Creative cloud app and click on “Check for App Updates”.
