Wrong menu selection launched from menu bar
Unlike the issue explained by another user below, my main menu bar selection opens correctly but the item selected from the main list is not launched. Instead, a random command is used. Example: choosing 'Export...' from File menu launches the Print Booklet dialog box. The problem happens randomly about every week or so. The only solution I've found is relaunching InDesign.

We have the same problem in our company. Since a few months, about 5 employees are affected intermittently. Each time an other menu item opens another wrong window, it is not always the same bug.
Only a InDesign restart helps for a short time, until a new issue of this kind occurs.
We are working on MacBooks.Example System Configuration:

I'm also experiencing this issue intermittently but at least 3-5 times a week. Restarting INDD fixes it until it returns randomly.
I also use dual-monitors, adding that in as it seems it might be related due to other commenters saying they have multiple monitors.

One and a half years later and the menu mixup problem persists, despite several InDesign updates and my installing ID on a new machine. Fortunately restarting ID still resolves the problem, if only for a few days.

I've had this problem for 3-6 months now. Don't know exatly when it started.
It's annoying as **** when a bug that makes InDesign useless can't get crushed immediately. -

I get the same thing every day or two. All menu items get mixed up. I have to relaunch InDesign every time.

I am getting similar issue on an external monitor. I have PC laptop (lid closed), and external 27". When I click a menu bar item such as "View", it displays the correct dropdown until you try to choose an item in that dropdown menu. Then the dropdown menu changes to a different one (usually to the left).
The "View" and "Window" menu choices both show the "Object" dropdown.When I open the laptop lid to display that screen, the menus function normally on the larger screen. As soon as you close it, it glitches again.

Working with InDesign CC19 (14.0.1) on 2 monitor Mac OS 10.13.6 and I'm having issues where menu selections open wrong panels. It's very strange...the only way to avoid is restarting the program. Example: when I choose File>File info I get the Print Dialogue panel. The exact same thing happens when I select File>Package. On top of this transforms stop working intermittently (horizontal or vertical flip) whether using the control panel or through menu bar. Last week's maintenance upgrade didn't help.
