1. book sync object-format does not work as it should

   Hello

   We often use the InDesign book functionality for very large and complex documents. In these documents we use also a nested/grouped object for images containing a frame for image caption and a frame for the image. Where the caption frame does not have a contour, the frame for the image has a contour. For every frame we have created an appropriate named object format. As long we use this nested/grouped objects in a single document, the appropriate object formats work as espected. When we use a clone of this "master" document for further book document, the object-format work as expected. When we do a book synchronization with the sync option "object format" enabled, the image frames attributes for the contour is overwritten (the contour is disabled) in all following book documentes, but for the master document - the object format name gets a "+". Only if we disable the sync option for "object format", the object format is not overwritten (obviously), but with the loss of the possibility to propagate to all following book documents any realy wanted change to object formats in the master document. I can't see any justification for this behavior - by the way in the case some one forgets to disable the sync option for "object format" it can cause a real "mess" as after a sync all image frames have to be corrected manually (may be over hundreds of objects) as there is noway to search and replace/reapply an object format.

2. inDesign screen flashing on M2 Mac mini

   InDesign screen flashing on M2 Mac mini.

   The screen flashed when selecting text, moving objects, using marque select.
   Turning off rulers helps a lot. I've read that turning on/off GPU performance will solve this issue. The option is grayed out within inDesign but is available on Illustrator and Photoshop.

3. Hide Frame Edges

   I'm working on Windows 11. I'm not sure what the InDesign version is but I just bought it two days ago.

   Everything has been smooth so far but when I needed to hide the Frame Edges I met this issue. From what I found out there are two options: View > Extras > Hide Frame Edges or simply Ctrl + H

   Neither case worked.

4. Indesign display refresh WORKAROUND

   If you have an Indesgin 2021, Catalina, Big Sur display problem where 1) scrolling, zoomin and/or refreshing does red or other strange artifacts 2) opening 2 dokuments in tabs corrupts display and results option 1 type of refreshing problems you could try this:

   Open every document into their own WINDOW not TAB.

   It looks so far that the bug disappeaars.

5. Story that spans several pages not adding to InCopy Assignment.

   When I create an InCopy file the bulk of the document does not add to the assignment. When I right click on the story there is no InCopy option in the drop down. If I go to the assignments panel I cannot add the story to the assignment.

   Just updated to InDesign cc 2018. (13.0.1) Running El Capitan.

6. version 19.2 x64. The version update lost my language setting (English-Hebrew).

   The English-Hebrew setting was lost during the last few updates, which removed the ability to create bullets with a hanging indent. A minus value in the first line indent always led to an error. It was solved by uninstalling and re-installing, which then gave me the text direction options again. So a workaround is possible, but it must be done every time I update.

7. Unable to type the í character

   When typing, inDesign doesn't receive the í character. On the Hungarian keyboard the í can be entered as AltGr+J. When typing the text, and pressing AltGr+J, sometimes the í doesn't appears, but the Paragraph options dialog pops up. Pressing one more time the AltGr+J types the í. This is a problem in the newer versions, in the CS6 version this wasn't a problem.

8. 72 DPI images not placing at 100%, scaling to 216 DPI

   This has apparently been a discussion since at least 2019 and has not yet found a solution:

   When placing certain jpg images saved to 72 DPI, In Design frequently places them at 1/3 actual size, or down to 216 DPI. This is including if the ID document's increments/document size are set to pixels. It seems most common with jpgs saved in a standard "Save As" format from Photoshop vs. the legacy "Save for Web."

   1. Versions 14.02 to 17.1 - Edit - issue continues after update to 17.2.1.
   2. Steps to reproduce: place a jpg image saved to 72 dpi resolution
   3. Expected result - image is placed at 100% scale like other images
   4. Actual result - image is placed at 33.33% scale
   5. See images attached. These are identically sized - the one that was saved using the outdated legacy Save for Web option on Photoshop came in at 100% scale or 72 DPI. The image saved in a more standard Save As format from Photoshop comes in at 33.33% scale or 216 DPI. Export option from Photoshop yields the same result. Have also noticed this scaling issue with images provided to me from non-Photoshop sources.

   Occasionally it loads it in at 50% scale instead of 33.33%, too.

9. modification date

   This is so strange.. When I want to open a file in the window there is no date anymore. So how to see which file is the latest one you worked on? I resetted preferences, but still it only shows: name-size-kind-date added... And i can not find a way to get a view options panel for this. any help?

10. 15.0.2 Margins & Columns Issue on Body Page 1 (Windows only)

    Version: 15.0.2

    Steps to reproduce the issues:
    I was teaching 3 students on 15.0.2 (all on Windows) how to create a new document. We set up a 12-page file and specified 3 columns and changed the top margin in the New Document dialog box. With the preview checkbox on, body page 1 did not reflect the changes. We could see the bleed and slug lines appearing when defined. We could also see the A in the corner of the the body page 1 icon in the Pages panel, indicating that A-Master was assigned.

    Expected result
    When you define a new document with Preview enabled, you should be able to see the margins and columns as defined on the first page, behind the dialog box before (and after) you click on OK.

    Actual result:
    After clicking on OK, we discovered that the margins and columns were defined and visible on the A-Master and body pages 2-12. We had to manually re-apply the A-Master to Body page 1. This happened to all three students.

    It is working as expected on my Mac 10.15.3.

11. Layer comps not working with Indesign on PC

    A 32 grouped layered file originally drawn in Clip studio paint, added layer comps in Photoshop does either:
    - upon placement place correctly but does not allow the changing of object layer options. OLO has a empty grey preview and does NOT change the image after pressing ok.
    - upon "update links" crashed indesign or gives the error "cannot place this image, unsupported color space" (same image as above which DID place)

    I have tried to:
    - move the layers to a new file, same effect
    - opened other files similarly made which work
    - tried this on a MAC which worked
    - had a friend try this on her PC, which didn't work till she changed her color space settings to what I have. Her saved file from that photoshop did not work and gave the same results

    File is 1.2gb, 32 grouped layers, 32 layer comps, CMYK, default color spaces as far as I can tell

12. Object style size property crashes InDesign when used with Libraries

    I have recreated this bug on both Mac and PC InDesign 13.0

    1. Create a text box
    2. Insert a table with any number of table cells
    3. Draw a rectangle anywhere
    4. Create a new Object Style and set Size and Position Options -> Size -> Adjust: to Height Only
    5. Apply the Object Style to the rectangle
    6. Cut and past the rectangle into one of the cells of the table
    7. Create a new Library file
    8. Drag the text box into the Library
    9. Try drag the Library item back out onto the page... It should crash.

    This has become very problematic for us because we use the Libraries a lot for commonly used table designs. We are having to avoid the new Size Options in Object Styles. It seemed like a good feature that we had been waiting for... But not working for us yet.

    I have attached a Library file with an item that will crash InDesign 13

13. Menu et fonctions invisibles

    Lorsque je clique sur les fonctions d'InDesign dans le menu, les panneaux sont invisibles. Je ne les vois pas mais quand je clique plus bas, ça clique sur les options du panneaux.
    Même problème pour le click droit, rien ne s'affiche mais quand je descend et clique là où devrait apparaitre le menu, ça clique sur les fonctions.

    C'est très handicapant, je ne peux pas travailler.

14. First baseline offset not being applied

    More than half the time that I try to change the First Baseline Offset in the Text Frame Options panel, the default setting (Ascent) will not change. When I select a different option from the drop-down menu, such as Leading, Ascent stays selected (before I'm even given the chance to click "OK" or "Cancel"). The only solution I've found to this problem is quitting InDesign and reopening it again and again.

15. GenAI Image location

    GenAI Images are automatically saved to the User's iCloud Documents folder. This causes a major issue if projects are shared with other users in that the GenAI Images may not get copied across, resulting in broken links.
    Another issue this creates is that if the User's iCloud storage is full, new images will not be created.
    There needs to be an option, either in the Preferences or the Links panel, for users to select where GenAI Images are stored.
    Please implement this.

16. Adjust Layout Moves Locked Guides when "Adjust Locked Content" Option is Disabled

    Locked guides that overlap the page margins move when using Adjust Layout while "Adjust Locked Content" is unchecked.

    Expected behavior: Locked guides shouldn't move when using Adjust Layout unless "Adjust Locked Content" is checked. Unlocked guides should move regardless of the option being checked.

    Steps to reproduce:
    Add ruler guides to a page that overlap the page margins
    Lock guides "View > Grids & Guides > Lock Guides"
    Open "Layout > Margins & Columns"
    Enable "Adjust Layout" and uncheck "Adjust Locked Content"
    Increase or decrease the size of a margin that overlaps the guide

    I haven't found any workaround for this bug and it's a major hinderance when adjusting the layout of many pages simultaneously as I have to manually re-adjust the guides on each page.

    Locked guides that overlap the page margins move when using Adjust Layout while "Adjust Locked Content" is unchecked.

17. print dialog offset greyed out

    The offset, gap and transverse options in the Setup section of the Print Dialog are not greyed out and so available. I tried various document presents, print presets and printers - and no matter what settings are selected these features remain greyed out. I cannot find in help pages or anywhere online how to activate this feature. Please help or fix.

18. "Go back on roll over" interactive button state checked/greyed out

    I was working on an interactive project and found that the "go back on roll over" option becomes turned on and greyed out so you cannot un-check the box when adding an "upon release" action to a button. I initially could NOT figure out why this was happening, and it was totally screwing up my on-click actions in my project.

    Eventually, I think I figured out that it seems to happen when you create a button, add an "on roll over" action and check the box "go back on roll off", then create ANOTHER action (like "on click"), and then DELETE the original "on roll over" action. If you go and look at your "on click" or "on release" action you created, the "go back on roll off" box is showing and is checked and is greyed out so you cannot edit that option.

    "Go back on roll over" seems like something that should be SOLELY associated with roll over actions, and should be disabled as soon as you delete/remove ANY roll over actions you have created.

    I finally figured out how to fix it, which involved adding an additional roll over action to the button as well, deleting my original "on release" action, deleting the roll over action, and then RE-adding the "on release" action again.

    It took me about 30 minutes to hack this, but it's obviously a problem.

    You should really consider working on your interactivity problems, as more and more people are using InDesign for digital publishing, especially those who are working on print projects that also need to be converted into digital formats.

19. Faulty save facility when updating cross references across a book

    When using the update cross-references on the Book panel of CC2020, it opens each chapter, it then updates the references, but then asks you to save and overwrite the chapter that it has updated. Maybe this is suitable for some, but I find it is frustrating when you have to agree to the file's same name and then agree to overwrite when you have over 20 chapters to go through every single time I update cross-references.

    CC2019 used to open, update and save the chapters without questioning you. Maybe this is an option I have missed under Preferences.

20. Indesign cuts off effects on PDF Export

    InDesign cuts off effects on PDF Exports if they get too large. (Also to mention... menues look different fot Font or Object Effects... someone realigned one of them and forgot the others.)

    Version of Adobe InDesign, InCopy or InDesign Server: CC 2017.1 with Tablefix
    Steps to reproduce the issues: Create a new Document that's wide enough e.g. 5000mm (happend to us on a big Banner) – Write Text - Use Effect "Bevel" - Export to PDF and watch it fail.
    Expected result: A Text with the applied effect
    Actual result: The Effect gets cut off (we almost printed a job like this...)

    InDesign cuts off effects on PDF Exports if they get too large. (Also to mention... menues look different fot Font or Object Effects... someone realigned one of them and forgot the others.)

    Hello All,

    Thank you for your support. The issue is now fixed in the latest update of InDesign.
    Please upgrade to the new InDesign 14.0 from your Creative Cloud Application.

    If you are unable to see the update yet, click on the menu (three dots) on the top right corner of Creative cloud app and click on “Check for App Updates”.
