[ID-4256710]InDesign 20.0 is unable to open INDD files without any error or alert
InDesign 20.0 can't open some files - they start to open and then the process is just somehow cancels and nothing happens. No error - you can try again but the files doesn't open.
I have macOS 15.1 on a 2.4GHz 8-core Intel Core i9 macBook Pro

The fix for this issue is available in the InDesign PreRelease build(v20.2.0.024) and above.
Please check if the issue is now resolved.
Download/Update the latest InDesign PreRelease build in Creative Cloud under the “Prerelease” category(Refer to “Prerelease_CreativeCloud.png” for reference)
Please apply to the InDesign PreRelease in case you don’t have access to the InDesign PreRelease build – https://www.adobeprerelease.com/beta/C6DFA254-C40C-4EEB-8F6D-F4AEDA2E6171

With the new InDesign update, I am NOT able to drag and drop any .indd files from my local Windows PC to open them in InDesign, this was never the case ever before this updated version.
now I have to do FILE | OPEN and open a single file from the HDD location
Is anyone else facing this issue.
This is very difficult to work and is slowing down the working process. -

Same problem here. I installed Indesign 2025 and an 80 page book I was working on refused to open without any error messages.. just nothing. Other documents with the same fonts and styling opened without issues. I have backup copies in time machine going back to August and none of them opened. I sent the file to Adobe who said it was down to corrupted links and sent me the file back... which didn't open!
This morning I reinstalled the 2024 version and my original file opened without any problems.
Great news for my book but now I'm stuck in the 2024 version and newer jobs have been saved in the 2025 version so I cannot access them until I update again! With these new jobs I tried the reverse conversion process but it doesn't work.
This is completely unacceptable. Adobe needs to sort this out urgently. -

Using the creative cloud app you can install "Other versions" of InDesign ID19.x alongside 2025. Then open and resave your files as IDML, then they should open in 2025 that fixed it for me at least.

InDesign will not open any previous files from 19.x in 20.0. I have tried every way to get them open and nothing works.

InDesign will not open an Indesign 19 file that was fine yesterday, I get the beachball, converting box then nothing. I tried opening through InDesign and the Finder - nothing. I 've re-started ID - nothing. Some ID 19 files DO open though...
