    Under certain conditions, the second letter after the opening letter in a word vanishes. This issue affects the appearance and natural flow of the text.

  2. control panel disappears

    Have upgraded to InD 2020 v 15.0.3 -- whenever i close all documents and then open a new one (i.e. when there is not already a doc open in InD), my control panel disappears and wont re-appear via tab or reset workspace. I have it set to floating. I have to close and restart my InD for the control panel to reappear again. Never had this problem before! Is this just my Mac or is it InD?

  3. Paragraph shading disappears randomly when working in Indesign

    Expected result: the shading is displayed as it is applied in the settings, also when making an adjustment.

    Actual result: When opening the Indesign file, the shading is displayed correctly. But when a change is made in the area with paragraph shading, the shading randomly disappears in some places and the edges of the shading are not displayed correctly, which makes it impossible to make accurate changes in the shading.   4. Tables and text randomly disappear in Adobe InDesign document

    While working in Adobe InDesign, tables and text frames intermittently disappear from the document, even though their frames and guides are still visible. As shown in the attached image, content that should be displayed (tables and text) is no longer visible on the page layout.

    This issue occurs during normal editing and navigation of the document and does not appear to be related to hidden layers or visibility settings. The problem affects document review and editing, making it difficult to verify content accuracy.

  5. Text-fields behave strange after InDesign 2020 update

    Since the release of InDesign 2020 there frequently appears a circumstantial bug, that is not reasonable in any way:

    When i double click (edit) or just copy any text-box, suddenly the content is moving downwards (about 3pt), so that it disappears in overflow text and has to be realigned. It even happens when I copy and paste those Elements or duplicate the whole page, so one of the most fundamental functions became futile (image "Adobe-Indesign-Bug-duplicate.jpg")!

    Additional the maximum height of the box, before the text disappears in overset, isn't depending on the contents height like in older versions, but…

  6. Paragraph shading disappears when printing to postscript

    We are using InDesign CC 2017. When we have paragraph shading applied in a paragraph style sometimes the shading will disappear in the PDF when printing to postscript. Strange enough, this is not (always) the case for the entire paragraph or all the paragraphs with that style. But just a part of the text.

  7. text shadow

    I have a text box with Drop Shadow Effect on the text itself. When I edit the text, the shadow does not change. I discovered quite accidentally that Undo (CTRL+Z) then Redo (CTRL+SHIFT+Z) fixes the issue.

    However, when I change the angle of the object (text box), the text moves but the shadow remains in place. I cannot fix it even by adjusting the Effect angle options.

    I have another issue where I have two separate text boxes on the same page with the exact same font and supposed font size, but the text is quite obviously not…

    Dear Adobe InDesign Development Team,
    We appreciate your efforts in addressing the RTL text issues introduced with the HarfBuzz engine in InDesign 19 (2024) and the improvements made through version 20.3.1.073.

    1. 14.0.2
    2. importing pdf comments that have bold and italic text in the replacement text
    3. that it would show as bold or italic in the pdf comment dialog box
    4. shows all text as none formatted

    I can understanding it would be difficult to get that text to change to bold/italic when i click accept, but if i at least saw that it was bold/italic in the preview box i'd know to make that edit manually.

    Some footnotes disappeared without reason then appeared back when I changed something in the linked paragraph. InDesign didn't display any kind of warning about this problem.

    Hi,
    Part of this issue was fixed with the latest release of InDesign 15.0.1

    For all new files created with ID 15.0.1 the issue will not come. For older files opened in ID 15.0.1, you will have to resize, move or do some text editing operation to make the footnote appear

    In case you are still facing the issue in new files created post ID 15.0.0 , please share a sample file

  12. CC2020: Alternate text for hyperlinks

    In CC2020 a new function for writing alternate text for links was introduced.
    Using this function and generating a PDF Leeds to wrong PDF notation. The alt text in PDF is presented by alt text, which is forbidden in the PDF world, where alt text only should be used for non text elements, e.g. pictures. By presenting only the alt text the accessibility is lost – this is against the goal to hav a better output!
    A correct output would lead to a content entry.

    Note: Alt text for links is under discussion, as such alt text is not…

  13. Is this a text wrap problem or something else??

    I use InDesign 2022. My Text wrap is set to 'none'.

    When I open a new text box it’s automatically applying a 1" a white space top and bottom that is the width of the text box. Also a 1/4" white space to each side of the box, that is the height of the text box. These 'white panels' (I hesitate to call them text wraps) blank out other text boxes and photos, but sometimes the text from the underlying text box shows through. Bringing the photo to the front can help where a photo is concerned.

  15. automatic resizing of text frames doesn't work properly with text variables

    I have a text frame containing just a single text-variable. The text frame is set to horizontal size adjustment. If the varibale is shorter than the text frame then the frame is resized properly. If the variable is longer the text is being squeezed together. The frame stays as big as it was before.

  16. ID 2020 15.1 - All text variables (including page numbers) replaced by "ss" text

    Just updated to ID 2020 15.1 and found a bug which makes the program unusable forcing me to immediately downgrade.
    When I open on of my ID documents created in previous version of ID, all of my defined text variables as well as page numbers are corrupted and replaced by the "ss" text. Changing the style has no effect. I can create page number based on the 'Basic Paragraph' style but when i choose any other previously created style, the number changes to 'ss'.
    Even the variable field preview shows 'ss' text instead of variable name.

  17. text won't appear over a pdf or imported image

    when i import an image or a pdf, any text that i try to have over it (such as putting a page number in the corner of the page) disappears. it's not that the text doesn't appear when the imported file isn't there, just that it is disappearing as it goes "beneath" the image or pdf. sending the imported file to back or the text to front does nothing.

    InDesign 14.0.1

    1. Switch to InDesign from another program
    2. Select either Selection Tool or Direct Select tool
    3. Double click on the text to place a cursor among the text
    4. Double click again to select a word

    Expected result: quick action from step to step

    Actual result: a few seconds of lag

  19. Unable to create text box and select text

    InDesign 2021 version: 16.2.1.102

    Drag when using Type tool -> no text box create
    Using Type tool, Double click the text inside a text box -> unable to select the word
    Using Type tool, drag within the paragraph inside a text box -> unable to select the texts, instead will move the whole text box

  20. [ID-4272219]Text Threads disappear on adding text frames to Flex Layout

    Hello,
    I have noticed that when a file with text/frame threads is used in a Flex layout group, when exporting to idml these threads are broken.
