1. InDesign v 16.1, Mac OS 11.2.3 on M1 laptop. Adobe Typekit does not consistently load fonts into InDesign.

   Please check the Typekit usage and activation in InDesign. This is a huge problem that is slowing me down. I am trying to load Freight Neo Pro and it is missing intermittently from my files. Other fonts from Typekit have also done the same thing. I also use Suitcase Fusion to manage my own installed Fonts.

2. erratic and missing cursor in text frames

   My setup: Windows 10 Pro, InDesign CC 14.0.2 x64, Ben-Q monitor.
   My cursor behaves properly when I use the Select tool, but when I use the Type tool, the cursor becomes very tiny outside of a text frame. If I click within a text frame, a vertical cursor blinks. However, to maneuver within the text frame, I need to use the cursor keys on my keyboard! I've tried changing the cursor settings for my system and restarting my computer to no avail. Please do not tell me to "trash" my preferences. I've spent a lot of time setting up a new document. Also, one past suggestion for similar bug reports was to change the system font size to 124%. The recommendation for my monitor is 250%. This bug is really slowing me down. Please advise.

3. Random missing text which does not affect the PDF output

   Greetings,
   Please compare the two screenshots that I've posted. One is a shot from InDesign, and the other is a screenshot from the PDF output of the same text. As you can see there are some missing lines in when I look at the text in InDesign.
   Some notes:
   1) It always happens with list items (bullet lists, numbered lists)
   2) The random missing text parts changes as I change the magnification (zoom) level
   3) It happens on all my documents
   4) I haven’t changed anything recently. No InDesign updates, etc.
   5) The font used is Minion Pro and supplied by Creative Cloud
   6) When the problematic list is a large one, it takes significant processing power to scroll or zoom over it and InDesign becomes unresponsive.

4. Missing glyphs in a Right-to-Left Paragraph direction

   1. InDesign Middle Eastern Version 18.4.0.56

   2. Steps to reproduce the issues:
      a. In Preferences>Composition>Highlight, turn on Highlight for missing glyphs.
      b. Type in a text box open and closing parenthesis.
      c. Toggle between Right-to-Left and Left-to-Right Paragraph direction.

   3. Expected result: Missing glyphs should not be affected by paragraph direction.

   4. Actual result: When the direction becomes Right-to-Left the parenthesis are highlights as missing glyphs.

   Additional Information:
   If you type one Hebrew letter before and after the parenthesis, the parenthesis will be highlighted with missing glyphs also on Left to Right Paragraph direction.

   I tried with various fonts, all behave the same. Today was the first time I noticed it. It happened with a document that I edit all the time (and also a new one I created to test it) when I selected a different paragraph style. I then got a message that there are missing glyphs. I turned on the highlight option and suddenly I notices that all my parenthesis are highlighted in yellow for missing glyphs. I believe it is a bug of the latest version.

5. InDesign 2022 crash when updating modified links in an existing document

   I just updated to InDesgin CC 17.0. I have a MacBook Pro 2020, with OS 10.15.7. Trying to open an InDesign CS 6 file with modified links to other InDesign documents causes the application to hang up and I have to force quit it. It doesn’t matter if I choose update links or don’t update links in the dialog box. In trying to quit and reopen I did manage to recover the document, but I still cannot resolve the modified links problem, since the application hangs up every time I try to update the links in the links pallet. Same with trying to just replace the link. I do have font errors mentioned for these links in the preflight panel that did not occur when working with this document in the previous version of InDesign.

6. hyperlink removes style

   This is ID 19.4.

   Hello– I have a character style applied to some (but not all) of the text in a TOC (see Attachment 1). As a test, we'll consider the word BELFAST, which has this specific style applied to it: font Roboto Bold, size 10, leading 12, All Caps, PMS 5275 CMYK.

   However, when I use the 'Add Hyperlink' function to the entire text block (from BELFAST to the page #), the previously described style I have applied onto BELFAST is removed (see second attachment).

   The particular TOC I'm showing you is short so no biggie, but I have several of these books and some of the TOCs are quite long so this issue becomes tedious to correct.

   Is there a logical explanation for this, or a bug? Let me know if you need more details. Tx!

7. printer

   InDesign fails to print on networked printer.

   Installed HP OfficeJet 6958 using HP "Wizard" to download drivers and install.
   Printer is installed over wireless network (connected through router).

   Same error occurred when installing Canon iP110 using downloaded installer (it installed as Canon iP110 Series WS) (But CAN print to Canon iP110 installed through "add printer")

   All other applications print fine, including PhotoShop and Acrobat.
   InDesign goes through print process (window pops up to show pages being processed), but does not print. File does not appear in printer queue.
   This occurs with all documents - graphics, non-graphics, etc.
   
   I have:
   - Restarted computer
   - Uninstalled/reinstalled InDesign
   - Set Printer Preset to "Default Printer" with all default settings
   - Tried printing a document with only one text box, arial font, nothing in master pages - failed to print

   Reinstalled printer and tried again - same results.

   InDesign fails to print on networked printer.

8. Text appears heavier over a transparent image

   When text is in a layer above an image that has its basic blending mode set to "multiply" the text is rendered with a darker outline. This does not appear in the final PDF, only the preview, but it makes it extremely difficult to judge font sizes and whether text is bold.

   To reproduce:

   1. Create text in a text box.
   2. Insert a JPEG image on the page.
   3. Use the Arrange option on the image to "send to back" so that it is in a layer below the text
   4. Use Effects > Transparency on the image and set its blending mode to Multiply

   The expected result is that the text should appear normally.

   The actual result is that the text appears slightly darker/larger/bolded. This effect may be easier to see if you zoom out in the preview.

9. Override to Character Style Gets Removed

   File from a client had a character style on a phrase making the phrase Italic. They then overrode part of the phrase with the character style back to Regular.

   When a different paragraph style is applied (WITHOUT telling InDesign to remove overrides) the override within the character style goes away, reverting the overridden text back to the character style.

   The problem seems to only occur when the font style of the new paragraph style being applied MATCHES the override that's applied.

   I.e., overriding to Bold, then applying the a new paragraph style that is Bold, removes the override. BUT overriding to Bold then applying a paragraph style that is Regular DOES NOT remove the override.

   This problem can be easily reproduced by doing a new file in InDesign and seems to go back to InDesign CS6.

10. Disappearing text when I type the character ,,T"

    So, I have an InDesign file, which is a brandbook for a partner. Few paragraph styles and some items, nothing secial. I use Prompt (Google font) installed on my system. As soon as I hit (smallcaps) T when writing the text OR becomes unvisible or it breakes to the basic paragraph style AND it wont display the T. IF I copy and paste the text from outside of InDesign then it displays T. And the All Caps T works as well. This bugg is really annoying. Could you look into this issue?

    I'm on MacOS BigSur 11.2.3
    and latest InDesign 16.1

    The issue is present on bought of my machines, so its not caused by specific hardvare. (bought are MacOS BigSur, so it could be OS realted).

11. Multiple variables cause issues when creating a Table of Contents

    Version 14.02, Mac
    I have a chapter title with nested character styles. Parts of the chapter titles are used to create headers on the subsequent pages. When I try to create a table of contents that includes those headers, there are multiple page numbers coming in. (The page numbers come in twice). I can see this is a known bug since ID 2015, but thought I would mention it is still a problem.

12. Find Glyph uses character style set in the Text tab

    It's not possible to set a character style in the Glyph tab of the Find/Change window. But if you set a character style in the Text tab, the Glyph tab uses that style to limit the search scope.

    Steps to reproduce:

    1. Start a new document, add a character style. (Doesn't matter what formatting you add to the character style.)
    2. Place a text frame and enter 'xx'.
    3. Apply the character style you added in step 1 to the first x.
    4. Set the character style in the Find Format field of the Text tab of the Find/Change window.
    5. Go to the Glyph tab, set it to search x in the applied font.

    Actual result: InDesign finds only the character to which the character style was applied.

    Expected result: that InDesign finds all characters x.

    (This is either a bug or an undocumented feature)

    InDesign CC2018, Windows 10/64, English/International version

    Hi,
    In step 4, are you setting the find format field to be the character style you have created in step step 1?
    If yes, then InDesign will only find those “x” which have the character style same as in the find format field (=character style created in step 1 and applied to only first x)

13. Style shortcuts keep disappearing

    I'm not sure what is going on but it's been happening for a while now. The only way I've been able to fix it has been to trash my preferences. Unfortunately even that doesn't last long, sometimes as short as a day.

    I make a lot of paragraph and character shortcuts for my projects. Each has it's own set of fonts so although I use the same shortcuts each are attached to different fonts so when I jump into a project I need to be able to see the shortcuts in the panel to remember which to use. For the past few years they keep disappearing from my panel even through the are still attached to the style. I cant figure out what is causing this to happen and I'm getting tired of trashing prefs every day just to be able to see my own styles. I could switch over to a newer indesign version but that requires purchasing a new version/subscription of my font application which I don't think is necessary for this issue. At this time my Character style is working right and displaying the commands for the styles I have setup While paragraph has 13 shortcuts missing.

15. Glyphs "alternates for selection"

    Glyphs panel: When I choose Show: Alternates for Selection, no alternates display even though there are several alternates for the selection the fonts I am using. I have tried with many fonts over the years and it still doesn't work.

16. InDesign stops at "Fetching Service Registry" on launch every time — only resolves when disabling fonts

    Hello Adobe team,

    I have been using InDesign regularly, but for the past year, I have been encountering a very annoying and recurring issue.
    Every time I try to launch InDesign, it gets stuck on the screen saying "Fetching Service Registry" and never completes the startup process.

    After troubleshooting, I found out that temporarily disabling some OS fonts allows InDesign to launch properly.
    However, this is extremely inconvenient as I have to do this every single time before starting my work.

    This issue is highly reproducible and happens almost every launch.

    I would kindly request that the team look into this issue and address it in a future update.

    InDesign version: 20.3.1 ×64 (example: InDesign 2025)

17. "Small cap" with some fonts doesn't works

    Version of Indesign: 17.3

    Steps:
    - write a text in Arial (or Bahnschrift, Calibri, Times new roman)
    - select text and activate "Small caps",
    - go to Preference -> Advanced type -> Character setting,
    - Change "Small cap" value to 40% (from 70%),
    - NOTHING CHANGE!

    Do the same with InDesign 15.3.1 and it works.

19. HTML ads produced in InDesign are exporting distorted and wrong.

    HTML ads produced in InDesign are exporting wrong. Fonts distorting, bevel and drop shadow not showing up. Several other elements look wrong.

20. "Repair file" Pops up when trying to 'Save' a file... InDesign closes without saving

    When opening an InDesing file with the new 2026 version, the file opens without any issues at all.
    No missing links, no missing fonts. Opens OK.

    When trying to save that file, which was created by previous InDesign version (2025), InDesign encounters an issue while saving. A pop-up asks if I want to "Repair the file". I hit the "Repair" button. InDesign app closes abruptly.

    So, I used another way to save the file without 'Saving As', nor replacing the file.

    I opened the exact same file made with a previous version of InDesign, hit 'Save as', select IDML, and the app didn't crash. I close the InDesing file. I erase the InDesign file from my folder.

    Then:

    Opened the IDML file, hit 'Save As > InDesign 2026'.
    The file saves as InDesign.
    No pop-up.

    I close the IDML file.
    Open the recently saved InDesign (2026).

    No more issues.
