Placed type from Word comes in as 'none'
When I place text from a Word doc into my magazine template, the type comes in with the color 'none'. Even when I use a paragraph style that has black specified as the type color, it still stays as none. So I have to select all of the copy and manually change it to black. This doesn't seem to happen in other documents -- just my magazine template. I don't know how to fix it. Using latest version of ID.

Spellcheck is grabbing the comma after words, causing an error
Since upgrading to Indesign 2021 v16.0, when I run a spell check, if it catches a word it thinks is misspelled but that word has a comma after it, spellcheck also grabs the comma. If I attempt to Add that word to my user dictionary, I get an error "Words ending in punctuation other than ending periods may not be added into the dictionary". This never happened in previous versions of Indesign. See attached screengrab.
(MacOS Catalina 10.15.7 // Macbook Pro Mid 2015)

Non-breaking hypens and column break in linked word file does not work in InDesign
I have a word file linked to my InDesign document. However, it is not working as anticipated. Two examples:
* non-breaking hyphens in the word document disappears in InDesign
* manual column breaks in the word document becomes pages breaks in InDesign - I have tried to use a second text frame in the same page as a workaround, but the second frame remains empty (until moved to the next page).1 vote -
double clicking (to select a word) or triple clicking (to select a line) is not working properly in the newest update.
double clicking (to select a word) or triple clicking (to select a line) is not working properly in the newest update. Double clicking may just insert the cursor in the middle of a word or worse is only selecting part of the word, triple clicking sometimes just selects the word and not the whole line. All preferences are properly set. It just started with 19.0.1

Unlink word document from Links - it used to work in Id2023
I am missing the "UNLINK" button (right click on word document in Links). I just checked the same documents in both versions 2023 and 2024. In new version the button is missing.

6 letter word is split at end of line without a hyphenation being added
Hyphenation of the style is set for 3 letters before, 3 letters after. Correct for the language would be a hyphenation after two letters in this case. Indesign cannot break the word as it wants, INSTEAD it still breaks the word, but inserts no hyphenation. This appears to be a bug. I am attaching a screen shot as well as a package file. The problem is highlighted in yellow on page 26 of the book.

Style mapping no longer seems to work between Word and InDesign
Previously I was able to import Word (v16.62) documents into InDesign and map its Paragraph Styles to my INDD template's Paragraph Styles.
In the latest version of InDesign (17.2.1), this does not seem to work, and the Paragraph Styles only come in in a single style.
I have gone back and tested this using old files, which previously worked, but they now do not work: the Style Mapping doesn't seem to register at all.

Issue with Word Breaks in Dictionaries on InDesign (last version)
Dear Technical Support Team,
I am writing to inform you about an issue I am experiencing with word breaks in dictionaries, primarily in UK English (the Canadian one has fewer problems), German (2006 reform with Duden activated), and Danish, which are the languages I use the most. This problem has also arisen in other languages. I always switch the dictionary according to the language of the text I am working on. I have mainly encountered these errors using InDesign, but it has also happened to me in Illustrator. Clearly, the word break functionality is not working correctly, and syllabication is…

Spot colors flagged because their name includes the word "pantone"
InDesign 19
Steps: Opening any file with manually-built spot colors with the word "pantone" in their names brings up the "this document uses Pantone colors" blue nag
Expected: that spot colors built manually, not using any installed color books, will be left alone
Actual: apparently the software flags the word "pantone", regardless of its originSummary: Manually-created spot colors are being flagged in Indesign because they have Pantone in their names. I legally purchased Pantone books in prior years, and the colors I'm using were built by referring to the builds from those books. I am not using any installed…

hyphenation error
When hyphenating a word like 'Groot-Brittanië' the hyphenated word shows two dashes which of course is not accurate.

Import Word file - cannot set 'Import as Static Text' as Default Preset
When I import a Word document I want the option 'Import as Static Text' ticked all the time.
The problem is that if I tick 'Import as Static Text' and make it a new Default Preset, InDesign remembers this until I quit InDesign and then relaunch it. The relaunched InDesign doesn't remember it - it remembers the Preset name, but it doesn't remember to tick 'Import as Static Text'.
This happens in CC2019 and CC2020. Could you please fix it so that the Preset you make remembers to keep 'Import as Static Text' ticked all the time, even when you…

Problem copying font from Acrobat Pro DC PDF (to Word and Indesign)
[Adobe Indesign 2021 - 16.3 / Suitcase Fusion 21.3.0]
Since the last update, I am unable to copy/paste from a PDF in Acrobat the accented characters of the French dictionary (ô, é, è, ç, à) to Word or Indesign, whatever the font is (Adobe font or personal font).
The glyph disappear when pasted.
The glyphs exists in the dictionary when looking at the panel in Indesign.

Keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Right Arrow / Left Arrow in tables
InDesign version 14.0.
The keyboard shortcut "Ctrl+Right Arrow" to move one word to the right does not work when the text cursor is in a table. Same for "Ctrl+Left Arrow", to move one word to the left.

Pasting Word tracked changes text keeps the old text as well as changes
When 'Text Only' is selected in Preferences/Clipboard Handling, pasting from a Word doc that has tracked changes results in the old edits (such as deletions) being retained in the pasted text in InDesign.
If this isn't a bug, perhaps there's a way to make these ramifications more obvious to the user.

Index Sorting is not matching with Microsoft Word Sorting feature
We received an escalation from our client that sorting on the index entries generated from InDesign is not matching with MS-Word sorting. Attached the marking received from client for your quick reference, please confirm whether we can consider this as Bug and can be fixed in the upcoming versions?

Text originated from MS Word yields problematic results when exported to HTML (excessive <span> statements)
I’ve stumbled upon a bug evident in text originated from MS-Word, which affects the HTML structure when exported from InDesign. Originally I encountered it with Hebrew text in heavily-style-driven paragraphs, however I re-created it in a completely “clean” style environment as well:
(1) Create a new file in MS-Word. Type some text into it (as “Lorem Ipsum”).
(2) Copy the text and Paste into InDesign.
(3) Reset the Paragraph Style; then apply a Character style to the text (it could be a Character style with no attributes).
(4) Paste the same text into Notepad, then Copy…
