Font display bug – garbled font weirdness
InDesign 16.4 on macOS Big Sur 11.5.1
When flipping through pages I get this strange font display issue. See screenshots.
It happens randomly. Not on every page but at least once every 10 pages.I can simply turn preview on and off or go to the next page and back to make the page behove normally again but this should not be necessary.
This happens with all fonts.
This happens every day.
This happens on my colleagues computers as well. They are running various versions of indesign of various version of MacOS.

We’ve concluded our investigation and came up with the finding : Either the issue is fixed in the latest release of InDesign or the issue was intermittent in nature at the time of its reporting and is not reproducible now.
We recommend you to upgrade to the latest version of InDesign 2020.0.1 (if you’re not already on it). It contains a lot of stability fixes.

Table borders, strokes, artifacted in InDesign problem
InDesign ver. 16.1 (2021): Table borders and strokes created on a separate layer and artifacted in InDesign are not tagged as artifacts when converted to PDF.
Close to a hundred "Path Object" errors flagged by the PAC 3 Accessibility Checker which we are required to use. The problem is none of these borders and strokes can be accessed in Acrobat with the Reading Order tool and therefore cannot be marqueed as artifacts. They are simply “not available” in Acrobat, yet PAC 3 flags them as “Path Object Not Tagged” errors.

Anchored text box in a table cell with text threads crashes when cutting
As the title says. It sounds similar to past bugs.
First, create a text box and add a table.
Create a separate, new text box and add a single character in it.
Anchor the text box to any cell in the table.
Enable "Show Text Threads" from the View > Extras menu.
Selecting and attempting to cut the table will lead to a long hang and crash.This is on the latest version of InDesign at the moment, 17.0. I am on Windows 10 20H2 19042.1288. I can verify this occurring on two separate systems.

colors desaturating and layer effect discrepancy
InDesign version 18.4
Make indesign file with layer effects (multiply, overlay, etc.) in CMYK. Click Share > Send for Review. Result in the browser is desaturated and layer effect is not working as displayed in working file.
The file that is previewed in Share for Review site is both desaturated and displaying the layer effects differently than my working file. I even exported my working file and it exported as expected. Effects appearing in wrong place when exported to PDF
My Case Number: ADB-6422050-V1R6
I've been exporting a document which uses the bevel/emboss effect. Part of the element is outside of the frame of the document. The effect on the part of the element outside the frame is being moved into the frame when I export it into a PDF. In the screenshot, you will see that in InDesign, the yellow pad is completely yellow on the left inside the frame of the document, but the edge of the image outside the frame is white; when you view in preview mode you don't see the white. Project goes blank
I've been using the new Indesign 20.0 and it will often go blank to a completely grey screen in the working area. I can see the toolbar, and even the image gizmo but none of the actual content. I tried switching preview modes and to presentation mode and nothing works besides just quitting out and opening it back up. It seems to happen when it's been in the background for a while and I switch back to it. It's extremely frustrating. I'm on a Macbook Pro M3 maxed out specs on Mac OS Sequia 15.0.1 (24A348).

text shadow
I have a text box with Drop Shadow Effect on the text itself. When I edit the text, the shadow does not change. I discovered quite accidentally that Undo (CTRL+Z) then Redo (CTRL+SHIFT+Z) fixes the issue.
However, when I change the angle of the object (text box), the text moves but the shadow remains in place. I cannot fix it even by adjusting the Effect angle options.

Mp4s don’t appear in exported swfs in indd 2018
The mp4s did work in indd 2017 and they do still in epub preview. I made identical indd files in 2017 and 2018 and placed several MP4s in both. they all worked in 2017 but in 2018 when activated by a click, button, or controller the poster disappears and the mp4 doesn’t play.

PDF/X-1a:2001 rendering is broken as of v18.4
Exporting using the PDF/X-1a:2001 preset no longer works properly as of versions 18.4. When rendering plate separations for printing using AFGA Apogee prepress software (which has NOT been updated, nor has the OS), the PDF crashes the render and spits out an error. I've checked and confirm that PDFs worked as expected forever until v18.4 and 18.5, which both produce an error. Saving the PDFs as a postscript within Acrobat and distilling back into PDF/X-1a:2001 fixes the problem, so something is broken in InDesign.
Apogee usually provides better error reports than the single "." in that screenshot, which suggests…7 votes -
15.0.2 Margins & Columns Issue on Body Page 1 (Windows only)

Steps to reproduce the issues:
I was teaching 3 students on 15.0.2 (all on Windows) how to create a new document. We set up a 12-page file and specified 3 columns and changed the top margin in the New Document dialog box. With the preview checkbox on, body page 1 did not reflect the changes. We could see the bleed and slug lines appearing when defined. We could also see the A in the corner of the the body page 1 icon in the Pages panel, indicating that A-Master was assigned.Expected result

Share for Review from InDesign Book 'artifact' error
When I try to share chapters from a book for review the Share for Review either doesn't function beyond clicking the 'Share for Review' 'Create New Review' or populates the details with the wrong file name and then fails to proceed (giving an 'artefact' error.
I solved it by doing the chapters one at a time with no other chapters open and the InDesign Book closed - but it took me a few hours to work this out.

InDesign Review feature 'Draw' out of alignment in web vs app
Hello, when i draw an annotation on the InDesign web review feature, it shows up outside of the alignment in the app. This makes the tool unusable for me with clients or as a viable option to suggest to our designers.

I'm having a problem with the PDF tags when applying alt text to a group of items- a feature introduced in the most recent version of Indesign. Even though our articles panel shows separate articles, ALL of the content that comes AFTER a group tagged with alt text will have their exported tags all appear nested within that group as well, ignoring the structure set up in the Article panel. Dans la palette Aperçu des Séparation, il faudrait une coche pour masquer ou afficher les objet utilisant la teinte repérage.
En effet il est très difficile de vérifier si un document contient accidentellement une teinte non désirée, car la teinte repérage peux masquer certains détails, comme par exemple un petit objet jaune quadri dans un document imprimé contenant plusieurs tons directs dont le jaune P109.

Identical shapes on different layers end up different sizes when scaled together using the selection tool
1) This bug occurred on InDesign cc2017 and CS6. 2) Follow these steps to replicate the bug: create a shape, let's say a circle, and then copy this circle and paste it in a separate layer directly over the top of the first. Dragging the cursor and highlighting text not working
Hello. I just updated my iMac to Sonoma (14.1.2), and now InDesign (19.0.1) has some new performance bugs.
When using the "Type tool" and dragging the cursor over the text I want to select, the text flashes, and the page briefly goes completely white. When I stop dragging, the text appears normal, but because the page is a whiteout while dragging the cursor over the text, I have no idea what text I'm selecting or where my cursor is going.
