1. missing text and images

   I have a multiple facing page doc that is missing text boxes and images. seems like a rendering issue but I cant fix the bug. any ideas? things I have tried are: preference reset, exporting the doc as an IDML file, moving pages to a new doc. nothing is fixing the bug.

2. [ID-3806494] Text Wrap Woes: v20.2 Update Fails to Resolve Text Wrapped Object Error Spacing Issue in Adobe InDesign

   This is a follow-up on the original bug report [ID-4257733], which addresses the issue of the "Text Wrapped Object" spacing error. The problem remains unresolved in Adobe InDesign version 2025 v20.2. Please find attached a PNG image illustrating the persisting issue

   Steps to Reproduce the Issue:

   1. Insert an image or free-flowing table into the text.
   2. Anchor the image or table in-line or custom to maintain spatial proximity with other images on the same page and ensure it remains adjacent to specific text .

   Expected Result: The ability to freely move or reposition the table/image anywhere on the page within the text, without overlaying or obscuring the text. This is particularly important for maintaining the relevancy and visual flow of the content.

   Actual Result: The "text wrap" spacing option fails to work for the text above the table/image, and the spacing is inconsistent—it does not work for the text above the table/image but functions correctly for the text below.

   This is a follow-up on the original bug report [ID-4257733], which addresses the issue of the "Text Wrapped Object" spacing error. The problem remains unresolved in Adobe InDesign version 2025 v20.2. Please find attached a PNG image illustrating the persisting issue

3. Crash when smart reflowing a document with many anchored text boxes

   Indesign is freezing/crashing when smart text reflow is used to reflow the attached document. Other documents are fine. This document is unique in that it contains many anchored text boxes and decimal tabs.

   I am using InDesign 15.0.2

   To witness the bug, 1) open the attached document, 2) click the red text marked with a note, 3) apply the "bug illustration" paragraph style.

4. Text/table duplicated after outline creation

   Indesign is duplicating text box and table box after converting to outlines. Also, these duplicate text boxes are not converted to outlines and are still editable. See attached image.

   Font used: URW Din.

   Computer config:
   Windows 10 Pro 21H1 - 19043.1165
   Indesign Version: 16.3 x64
   Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6400 CPU @ 2.70GHz 2.70 GHz

5. text color not showed in track change

   In the Story Editor, when Track Changes is activated, there are 3 types of visual indicators for change: text color, background color, and marking. In practice only the marking and the background color work, while the text color is always displayed in black. Attached is a screenshot.

6. Bug: Mac AppleScript change text returns replacement except last character

   Search ("find what") and replace ("change to") does not return the expected results when replacing text. It truncates the replacement by one character.

   Steps to reproduce
   1. Create a new InDesign file (see attached test.indd)
   2. Create a text box
   3. Add text in the text box including the word "test"
   4. Run the following script (see attached) test.scpt
   5. Expected the return results to be "foo" but it returns "fo"

7. text frame anchored causes ID to hang

   I have a text frame (with text wrap, and also an inline image) anchored to a line of text in the main story.

   When I adjust this frame while it is still anchored, it causes ID 16.0.1 to hang. This is the same behaviour as in versions before. No crash report because of ID 'just hanging'. The fix is force quitting.

   macOS 11.0.1. This was also happening with earlier versions of macOS.
   The remedy is: 'Free' anchored object, make adjustments, and re-anchore the frame.

   Added info:
   possible connection: this happens when anchored to text with paragraph shading!

8. Hebrew that is conditioinal text does not export properly to PDF.

   1. This is the case in InDesign 19.0, 19.0.1, 19.1, current beta version. 2-4. Hebrew text with diacriticals (vowels and others) that is marked as conditional text exports to PDF incorrectly. Diacritical marks are missing or misplaced. Sometimes an unexpected box appears. The same file, with conditions removed exports correctly to PDF. (Other exports, e.g., JPG) are correct. The same file exports properly in 18.5
   2. Attached files: a. Hebrew text with condition applied and same text without condition applied. This is the pdf export. I would provide the indd file but this webpage does not accept indd files. b. Screen with example of a strange box appearing and diacritical vowels missing on text that has an indesign condition applied.

9. Primary Text Frame auto flow does strange things

   Auto text-flow suddenly produces this result while auto-adding new pages to fit the text-length.

   Maybe it wants me to produce more "experimental books"… who knows.

10. Preflight panel Overset text not showing page number

    For a couple different files, I got an error message in the Preflight panel, indicating the presence of Overset text, but NO page number. In both files, it said it was an issue with footnotes, but not where. One of the suggested fixes is to allow Split Footnotes, but that option is already checked.

    After a lot of sleuthing, we eventually found the error. In one of the two files there were multiple errors in multiple locations. The entire footnote had vanished. The footnote reference was still there, but all of the text of the note had disappeared.

    As you can see, I had previously lengthened the page to make room for the footnote text at the bottom of the page. But then the program decided, nope, not enough room for that after all, and made the entire footnote disappear.

    When I lengthened the page by 0p1, Poof! the footnote text magically reappeared. If I shortened it by that 0p1 again, the footnote text stayed in place.

    1. Why does it suddenly decide the page is too short, when it was not too short before or after that time?

    2. Why has the Preflight panel gotten less smart than it used to be and can no longer identify the location of the error?

    I upgraded to version 16.0 and got the same results.

    Windows PC, 64-bit, shown here is 15.1.2, but as noted, after I upgraded to version 16.0, the Preflight panel didn't get any smarter.

11. Paragraph Panel – Unwanted Text replacement

    Please fix this bug!!!

    When I go to manually change the "Space before" or "Space After", it replaces all my selected text rather than the value I have selected to change within the panel.

    This is IMPOSSIBLE to work with.

12. Preflight showing overset text on non-visible layer

    Whether I have Visible Layers or Visible and Printable Layers selected in the Preflight Options, preflight still shows as having specific overset text despite layer being unchecked for visibility (ie layer is not visible)

13. Converting text cell to graphic cell

    If you convert a graphic cell to a text cell the vertical justification gets locked, cell appears to be anchored and is unable to be converted back to a graphic cell.

    1) Create table
    2) Select cell > context menu > convert cell to graphic cell
    3) Select cell/object > convert to text cell
    4) Unable to convert back to graphic cell or adjust vertical justification within cell (options greyed out) and anchor symbol on top right of frame

15. Publish Online search text

    When I publish a document online from Indesign by activating text search, the related drop-down menu that contains this command at the bottom right of the web page, does not open correctly on iPads, both using Safari and Chrome, while on Android tablets everything works correctly. 16. Type functions do not work on Text frames in CC2019

    In all previous versions, it was possible to select a TEXT FRAME (one or more) and apply any text formatting to the text in it.

    This has been removed in CC2019. With a text frame selected, the text functions in the control panel and in text related palettes -- Character, Paragraph -- are disabled. The functions in the Character and Paragraph Styles panels are NOT disabled but they don't "work".

    Expected result: how it worked in the 13 versions that preceded this one.

17. Problem with changing the cursor to text - Indd 2020

    Hello. After running the latest version of InDesign CC 2020 v. 15.03. x64, I have a problem with changing the cursor to text and to back. It takes about 40-50 seconds. This happens each time you launch InDesign. The size of the processed file does not affect the error. Thanks for feedback.

18. eyedropper

    Eyedropper not working in CC2018 (ME enabled). When I click a blank square then use eyedropper tool to copy color values from an existing vector graphic, the vector graphic container changes color instead. And while testing just now, if I draw two squares, one black one white, then select one to copy the color of the other, the selected square disappears. Text blocks fail to copy too and all eyedropper options are selected. This wasn't an issue with CC17.

    There are two different issues mentioned here, and let me address them separately:
    1. Clicking a blank square then using eyedropper tool to copy color values from an existing vector graphic, the vector graphic container changes color instead.

    2. If I draw two squares, one black one white, then select one to copy the color of the other, the selected square disappears.
    >>> With InDesign CC (13.0) the transform options have been added to the Eyedropper settings, this includes size and position. It seems that these options for you are checked and when you click on the square to give it color, it does not actually disappear, it just overlaps the existing one since it copies the size and position as well.

20. BUG with master text frames, master pages and "allow pages to shuffle"

    Hello,

    Latest Indesign CC on Windows 10 64bits.

    I have a document, with a master page template applied to all pages in the document. There are master text frames inside the master page template, perfectly aligned with the margins on each left, and right page. In my master page template, I have set up the following margins for left pages :

    top : 46pt
    bottom : 46pt
    outside : 56pt
    inside : 46pt

    And the right pages margins set up as follow :

    top : 46pt
    bottom : 46pt
    outside : 46pt
    inside : 46pt

    On the left pages, I have a solid holding the current category / section, so I have set a larger outside margin.

    Everything looks good and aligned (text boxes are controled by master pages master text frames) until I delete one page for example, which makes every following right page, a left page, and every left page, a right page.

    From this point, in my pages, all text boxes are misaligned to the margins set in the master page template. That is to say that from now on, left pages have text boxes which are the size of right pages text boxes, and right pages text boxes have the size of left pages text boxes.

    To fix it, I have to select all my pages, and reapply my master page template to update the text boxes to match the master page's master text frames.

    Then, the text frames are finally properly aligned to the margins set in the master page template.

    I don't think this is how it should behave. Master text frames should always be synchronized to the master page templates and should not have to be reapplied manually...

    I might be using this wrong but I can't figure out an auto fix, and this gets really annoying when you have to fine tune your document, remove some elements, which can makes me delete some pages, which causes this issue.

    Any fix ? What about a option to make indesign aware when right pages become left pages, and left pages become right pages, and reapply automatically the master page template to adapt to those changes ?

    Am I alone with this issue ?

    To identify the cause of this issue, we had started our investigation with the aim to resolve it. You might have also received an email from us seeking more details to help in our investigation.

    We’ve concluded our investigation and came up with the finding: Either the issue is fixed in the latest release of InDesign or the issue was intermittent in nature at the time of its reporting and is not reproducible now.

    We recommend you to upgrade to the latest version of InDesign 2020 (if you’re not already on it). It contains a lot of stability fixes.
