Data Merge multiple records not working properly at all
Data Merge is very buggy on latest update, makes tool useless:
1/ repeating same record over (with multiple records)
2/ records are not imported in order of source document
3/ preview and results do not match (alignment, records, etc)
tested with both txt and csv

I've been hit with it, after a lot of hair pulling found out about this. Apparently the fix is to make a new file and never preview the multiple records layout? That's not a solution!

Mine just started doing this with the latest update. The preview is okay on the multiple record merge, but then when I actually merge it, it selects a seemingly random line and repeats it over and over again for every item. I need this to work, so what is happening?!

Same issue. The new-file workaround works. Please fix!!
Attached photos of the error.
All items are created on a regular page, NOT ON MASTER PAGE.
Multiple record preview works fine. Error happens upon Merged Document creation.
Also notice that the numbers in white at the bottom have to match the big number in yellow, and some of them are mixed.
I hope this helps somehow.

I have this issue too, the preview generates the correct, and wanted data merge result but when executing the final data merge, it seems to reuse an entry at random.
As per Jolene's comment, creating a brand new document does fix this issue temporarily, but this is not a particularly efficient work around.

This keeps being a problem for me, I have now discovered though that (at least sometimes) the problem seems solved (for a moment) when you create a whole new document, either paste, or otherwise recreate the table (or whatever) in which you want to data merge. I think you should not yet put it in a new master page, but just on the first page you get in front of you and do the whole thing again. Give it a try. Its a hassle for sure, but it makes it a bit better, next time I'll immediately do / try that.
