Manually adjust width of columns in text frame
When there are multiple columns in a text frame, the width of each column is automatically divided evenly between the number of columns and the width of the frame. It would be nice to be able to manually change the width of those columns so they are not automatically all the exact same width, or height for that matter. I'm thinking much like how columns in a table can be adjusted, and then when the whole table is changed you can elect to have the manually adjusted columns shift accordingly or not. Placing multi-page PDF (script)
The script PlaceMultipagePDF is a very usefull and neat tool. However, I feel it miss a few options.
- Scale to document page size. With additional option of "fill frame proportionally", "fill content proportionally, "fit content to frame", "fit frame to content" and "center content".
- Option where to place the frame on the page: -- Option to place on any corner or center of page. -- Option to place on any corner or center of bleed. -- Option to have different options above on left and right page.

The indesign "edit original" menu should go to the worksheet of the illustrator.
When displaying the multi-page illustrator document with the indesign "edit original" menu, a random page is opened. The workspace of the "edit original" menu in the illustrator must be centered on the screen.

Distribute Width
I have two frames side by side, but this is relevant to not just frames. I would like to distribute the widths of these two so that they are both equal width but the total combined width is still the same, and they stay positioned as they are. I thought this would be in the align tools but I have tried many different combinations and cannot achieve this. I have used distribute widths in other programs (MS Word) and it saves so much time not having to manually calculate the widths every time and is of course…

Quick change of tables column width and row height
Please give us the ability to set column width and row height of a table in one step.
Today I only can change one table column after the other if I want different column width. The same is true for table rows if I want different row height as well.
With the script (AutoColumn) from Gerald Singelmann it’s possible to change at least all column width in one step. I didn’t found a script for row height till today.
I attached a video (AutoColumn.mov.zip) where I demo the script and perhaps this explains it a little bit better.

Please fix menu overlap on fly out pages' window
Wasn't sure if I should call this a bug or if it is by design, however, please fix the overlapping of the page indicator/tools on the pages' fly out menu. It overlaps when you have the window be its narrowest.
When this happens I am unable to use the tools (e.g. deleting a page by dragging over the trash icon)6 votes -
Font Menu Management
Need a way for end-users to control which fonts appear in the font menu. We don't need, or want, all the Mac OS system fonts to appear in our InDesign font menu, but there is currently no way to remove them from the list. While we can sort by Favorites, this would mean we'd need to go through and mark all our corporate fonts as Favorites in order to only display them. Scale pages thumbnail size by width of of panel
Sometimes I need to reference other pages in the doc I'm working on. It would be helpful if the pages panel adjusted the size of the thumbnail based on the width of the window. The Panel Options sizes don't offer enough versatility.

Background tasks and glyphs panel width matching other panels
I would love to be able to incorporate the Background tasks and glyphs panel width to my other panels.

Make PAGE UP and PAGE DOWN keyboard keys maintain consistent position of page in the viewport
If I click the little Previous/Next Page buttons at bottom left of screen, I can cycle through pages, and the position of the page within the window stays the same throughout the process. This is great and very helpful when flipping through a book quickly.
But if hit PAGE UP or PAGE DOWN on the keyboard, it seems to SCROLL the document position up/down by some numerical value, with no regard to the position of the page being displayed.
It would be logical and helpful if PAGE UP and PAGE DOWN had exactly the same effect as the…

Option to disable the drop shadow in artboard on screen mode "Normal" of the "View" menu
Please, enable an option to disable the drop shadow on the artboard in 'Normal' screen mode in the 'View' menu (on the right side and in the footer of the artboard/sheet). The shadow makes it very difficult to achieve accurate positioning and alignment of objects. I found several people on Google complaining about the same thing, and there is no solution! The "Preview", "Bleed" and "Spacer" options do not have the shadow, but they also do not display what is on the workspace outside of the artboard/sheet. Adjust book cover spine
Please give us back the former option of layout adjustment (see screen capture) !!
It was so simple and so easy to change page format and objects adjusted well !
For exemple when doing a book cover :
before, you could change the page width of the spine, and if there was a colored frame on it, its width would adjust too (but not the height if the height of the page didn't change)

"Teach" Content Aware Fit
Is there a way to "teach" InDesign how the content aware fit function should work. As you can see in my attached image, it's actually cropping a big part of the image out.

Content Aware Fit separate setting for rasters and vectors
I like using Content Aware Fit on most photos but it doesn't make it sense to use it on vectors like logos. So I have to turn it on and off constantly. Perhaps there could be separate preference checkboxes so that Content Aware Fit can occur when placing photos but not vectors.

Full Screen / Split Screen Support for InDesign/InCopy on MacOS
It really would be helpful if the Adobe CC apps (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop et al) all did as Acrobat Pro DC does and properly implemented the MacOS full screen/split screen option.
This would allow people who use multiple and large monitors to properly designate workspace and split screens between two apps without toolbars/panels getting hidden by other apps.

Add the possibility to set cell/line/row height and width in tableformats
We have a lot of tables in our brochures which have to fit in the grid.
It would save a lot of time if I could set, at least, the height of a line as a standard in the table format.
At the moment I have select every table and enter the value. If cells are connected in a row, you have to disconnect them to set the height value. Not very comfortable.

Have user Templates available on the splash screen/new document page
Creating templates greatly enhances document workflow creation. 2 things would make that even better:
Make the templates available on the splash screen/new document dialog - possibly under the saved tab.
Create a workflow that would allow for documents created from a template to update if the template is changed.18 votes -

When working in huge and very complex documents — with dozens and dozens of paragraph styles and very complex table of contents —, the limitations of the interface window are rather annoying. The window cannot namely be expanded to have a better view of the selected styles.
The number of visible styles is namely limited to four (see screenshot). And the width cannot be adjusted either.
