3. ID crashes when call method "createHyperlinkQRCode" on Rectangle from "afterOpen" event handler

   ID 18.1 Windows 10

   I'm trying to develop a script that updates the QR code (creates anew in the same Rectangle ) when the document is opened.

   The Startup Script sets the event handler of the "afterOpen" event, where the "createHyperlinkQRCode" method is called on the found Rectangle object.

   In this case, InDesign crashes with an error
   <crash exception="EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION" exceptionCode="0xc0000005" instruction="0x00007FFD49229914">

   Creating a QR code manually through the main menu does not cause errors. The error does not occur when the script calls the "createHyperlinkQRCode" method on the Document object. But in this case, I have to point with the cursor to the place of inserting the QR code, and this creates an unnecessary waste of time.

   If the script is called from the script panel, it works without errors, which indicates that there are no errors in the script.

   I tried the following layouts (they cause the same error and crash InDesign):
   (1) Preferred option. Call the QR code creation method directly in the "afterOpen" event handler.
   (2) I extended the Rectangle object with an additional method that is called in the "afterOpen" event handler.
   (3) I made a separate script that can be run manually. It works if I run it manually. And crashes if I call this script in the "afterOpen" event handler using doScript().

   ID 18.1 Windows 10

4. Missing glyphs in a Right-to-Left Paragraph direction

   1. InDesign Middle Eastern Version 18.4.0.56

   2. Steps to reproduce the issues:
      a. In Preferences>Composition>Highlight, turn on Highlight for missing glyphs.
      b. Type in a text box open and closing parenthesis.
      c. Toggle between Right-to-Left and Left-to-Right Paragraph direction.

   3. Expected result: Missing glyphs should not be affected by paragraph direction.

   4. Actual result: When the direction becomes Right-to-Left the parenthesis are highlights as missing glyphs.

   Additional Information:
   If you type one Hebrew letter before and after the parenthesis, the parenthesis will be highlighted with missing glyphs also on Left to Right Paragraph direction.

   I tried with various fonts, all behave the same. Today was the first time I noticed it. It happened with a document that I edit all the time (and also a new one I created to test it) when I selected a different paragraph style. I then got a message that there are missing glyphs. I turned on the highlight option and suddenly I notices that all my parenthesis are highlighted in yellow for missing glyphs. I believe it is a bug of the latest version.

5. portrait mode - Whether at 125% or 100% the Indesign Interface scaling option under Preferences does not work.

   BUG DETAILS- On a Monitor that is setup in a Portrait configuration, whether at 125% or 100% display scale in Windows Settings, the Indesign Interface scaling option under Preferences does not work.

   Adobe is a publishing software, especially InDesign. Book Publishers and their graphic design team need to have the option of working in a monitor setup in a Portrait configuration for the purpose of full vertical page (height) dimensions. I cannot get Indesign to Scale the Interface at all under Preferences when monitors are set in Portrait configuration. This is a bug because the InDesign interface does scale (as intended, under Preferences) when monitors are in landscape configuration.

   The result is that the menu items and tool icons are so small they are virtually unreadable.

   Walked through this with a tech on Adobe phone Support to confirm all this - that portrait Interface scaling is not possible on my end or the tech's end. We walked through all the troubleshooting steps, including setting the Windows Display Scale settings to 100% and trying to adjust Display Resolution.

   It remains unresolved. Those of us with glasses and eye strain, thank you in advance

6. Un-asked for CC Adobe applications running in stealth mode continually bring my Mac to a complete stop for seconds at a time.

   Please stop loading my 2009 MacPro / Yosemite / 20GB RAM with stealth Adobe apps that make my computer impossible to use.

   I do not need TypeKit, I do not need any of this stuff you force me to have running in the background when I have CC InDesign running. Your apps are killing my productivity, not "enhancing" it.

   I am a book designer, I don't use much of your fancy stuff. The only way I can get any work done is to open my clients' files in CC, save the IDML, then quit the CC version and go back to using my perfectly useable CS6 InDesign.

   I see no reason to attach a file. I've been using Adobe applications since Illustrator 88 and am one of your most-experienced users. My files are not causing any problems. The problem is the stealth apps that show up in my Mac's Activity Monitor. Once I quit the CC InDesign version (I've installed 2014 and 2017) and restart the Mac, your problematical stealth apps do not reappear... until I boot CC2014 or CC2017 again. Please give us the option of turning off these stealth applications! I beg of you! Please listen! Please!

   This issue is not related to InDesign per se. It is generic with Adobe applications. Users are asking not to load services like Typekit, etc while working on Adobe apps as this is slowing them down.

7. Auto tag XML Broken

   1) InDesign 19.5 Swedish version
   2) Create a new empty document, add some pictures, draw a text frame and insert a table, choose "Add untagged items" (or whatever the English wording is, in Swedish it is "Lägg till objekt utan märkord")
   3) PageItems should be tagged with the Tags choosen in Tagging options (Artikel, Tabell, Cell, Bild in Swedish, Article, Table, Cell, Image, in English)
   4) Items are wrongly added with "Figure" tag

8. Paint and lines disappear

   Indesign 2023, Mac OS 12 Monterey (other similar reports in Catalina and win10)

   Phenomenon
   Fill and line disappears when copying an object.

   Reproduction procedure
   1. Select an object with fill and line to surround it with the direct selection tool.
   2. Grab the anchor point and copy by option+drag.
   3. The object without fill or line is copied.

   The same result can be obtained by selecting an object to enclose with the direct selection tool, and then copying with the Object menu > Transform > Move.
   If you select an object by clicking directly on the fill area without surrounding it with the direct selection tool, the fill and lines are copied as they were (expected result).

   I would like the original object to be copied as is, just like in Illustrator.

   The circle that appears around the cursor is due to a utility and is displayed when clicking.
   The fact that nothing is displayed in the middle of a drag copy is probably a problem with the screen recording function.

10. Converting text cell to graphic cell

    If you convert a graphic cell to a text cell the vertical justification gets locked, cell appears to be anchored and is unable to be converted back to a graphic cell.

    1) Create table
    2) Select cell > context menu > convert cell to graphic cell
    3) Select cell/object > convert to text cell
    4) Unable to convert back to graphic cell or adjust vertical justification within cell (options greyed out) and anchor symbol on top right of frame

11. 23.0.3 Adobe PDF Preset / Transparency Flattener Preset "Convert Text To Outlines" Not Working

    In all previous versions of Illustrator and InDesign, when saving a PDF, I have been able to set my PDF settings to convert all text to outlines by checking "Convert All Text To Outlines" in my Adobe PDF preset. Since my recent update to 23.0.3, this feature is no longer working properly. The setting is still an option, however, upon save/export of the PDF, text is not converted to outlines as it previously was.

    I have reached out to customer support for this issue and have been informed that this issue is "expected behavior of the software".

    How is this issue considered “expected behavior” when:

    1) Setting Adobe PDF presets and Transparency Flattener presets to "convert text to outlines" is a feature of the software
    2) It has worked flawlessly in ALL previous versions of Illustrator and InDesign

    This is a pretty common practice that designers use when creating print documents. Most printers require all text to be outlines when receiving project files. It is very time consuming to manually change all text to outlines when you're working with a 100+ page project file. This feature, which I and countless others use on a daily basis, prevents the error of accidentally saving over a working file as well as saving time when preparing documents for print.

    If this feature (which is still showing as a feature in the current version) has been removed, I deeply implore you to bring this feature back.

12. Choosing a link's page or layer right in the links panel

    I would love to be able to change the page of my links without having to replace the file and select the page through import options. I use a lot of nested indesign files where I'm duping up business cards with multiple sides. It gets timely when I have 4 sides and I have to replace them all 8 times. Keep it in mind guys! You're doing an awesome job! I <3 adobe people!

13. Font distortion in SVG files imported from Illustrator

    InDesign version 18.1 has a bug when importing svg images made in Illustrator; the fonts used in the svg files are distorted.
    When I had exported the svg files in Illustrator, I chose "save as" and SVG Options: Subsetting > "All Glyphs" to make sure the fonts remained accurate when placed in InDesign, and this has always worked until version 18.1. When I went back to version 18 and opened the file, the fonts were back to normal.

14. object style override plus-sign when multiple elements selected

    Object style made. Works fine.
    Multiple items on page need same style. When applied to ONE item, styles menu looks "normal." When applied to multiple items, with items selected, the styles menu shows plus-sign after style name.
    All of "clear overrides" options tried. Does not fix. Cannot verify that use of style is correct if styles panel gives false feedback.
    In the past, earlier versions, I don't remember ever seeing this apparent conflict.

16. Adobe PDR printer settings option missing

    Hello dear Adobe team,
    my problem is as following: When printing Booklet in my custom settings I am missing Adobe PDF printer option. I cant even install Adobe printer from control panel as suggested here: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/add-pdf-printer-manually.html because there is no Adobe PDF option in "Use existing port" option. Could you please help me with this? I am also adding a few screenshots of the problem.

17. InDesign White object exports as RGB in PDF/X 2008 PDF

    Not sure if this is a bug or intended but I don't think I have had this before as I have saved this file in the past for printing.

    InDesign Vers. 14.0.3

    White vector object (outlined text in InDesign not Linked/Placed) is changed to an RGB object when exported as a PDF from InDesign using PDF/X 2008 No Conversion Lab Ink Manager Values for Pantones are Lab for Spots & Convert all Pantones to CMYK.

    Tried a test using the Save for Print default setting and it came out fine, as well as testing the Output Color Conversion set to Convert to Destination (Swop) preserve numbers which also did not produce the object as RGD. I tested using the paper colour as well as setting it as CMYK 0000 for the colour.

    I have attached my PDF Export job options file. It is basically a standard PDX/X 2008 with the addition of bleed and crop settings. My colour settings are set to N/A general purpose.

    If this was a placed object that was RGB white I could understand it not converting to CMYK if I didn't have convert to destination turned on but it is an InDesign Object that is coloured in InDesign using CMYK white.

    Am I missing something?

    Not sure if this is a bug or intended but I don't think I have had this before as I have saved this file in the past for printing.

18. InDesign crashes when I try to change styles with the preview box selected.

    I am running InDesign 19.0.1 x 64 on a Windows 10 machine

    When I try to edit a paragraph style that includes bullet points, and with the Preview box checked, my computer crashes. As you can see in the screen capture video, it is an intermittent issue, but InDesign crashes the majority of times I am trying to edit the bullet paragraph styles. It also happens when I try to change the Anchored Object Options in my Object Styles panel.

    We have released InDesign 2025(v20.2.0.036) with many stability fixes. We recommend you upgrade to the latest version (if you’re not already on it) as it is more robust.

    If you still face this issue even after updating, please submit the crash report to us. (Guidelines to submit crash are available at (https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/kb/submit-crash-reports.html )

    Also, please send the following information to santalwa@adobe.com :

    • Reproducible Steps – What were you doing when InDesign crashed?
    • Video recording of the crash
    • Is(Are) the issue related to a specific document(s)/asset(s)? If yes, could you provide us with the document(s)/asset(s)? Please package the entire document (To package the document, choose File → Package…)

19. Paragraph style changing during Data Merge

    Paragraph style changes when data merging if I have the "remove blank lines from empty fields" option turned on. (see attached video)

20. Option-Click and Drag

    InDesign 16.0.1. (and prior)

    I updated to Catalina OS on Mac. Option-Click no longer works as it should. It is supposed to straight duplicate one time. Now it is acting as a step and repeat and is creating 2 duplicates instead of one. Please help. I can't find how to fix this.
