Crash when working with book TOC
I have a book with 10 chapters. I created a TOC earlier and left it for a few months while working on the chapters. When I try to update the TOC, the program crashes. I've tried the create new TOC files. Same result.
Same issue on both desktop and laptop.
Thanks, we were able to reproduce the issue and looking into it.

Is this fixed yet?
Been using TOC a while without issues, now with the latest version of ID, my ID crashes whenever I try to update, create or delete my existing TOC.
Using IS 17.2.1 i think.

I am in the **** of this problem now, too. Even trying to convert to idml and back doesn't fix it. This is going to take major time to recreate the files.

try to disable "create pdf bookmarks" add few styles, save and close the style, then add further style.. doing so you'll be able to create toc. I follow this and successfully create toc for 9 files

I am having this same issue, except when updating the TOC it crashes, then deletes the file it was working on when it crashed. Have tried numerous times and does not always crash at the same point. Tried pulling in a previous TOC when it used to work and that does the same thing. Have reinstalled the program. Still having the issue.
Using InDesign 2019 14.0.2 -
