InDesign version 18.1 has a bug when importing svg images made in Illustrator; the fonts used in the svg files are distorted.
When I had exported the svg files in Illustrator, I chose "save as" and SVG Options: Subsetting > "All Glyphs" to make sure the fonts remained accurate when placed in InDesign, and this has always worked until version 18.1. When I went back to version 18 and opened the file, the fonts were back to normal.
