1. mapping styles

   After assigning a Class in the Para or Character Style definition dialog (in Export Tagging), the Class usually disappears. So when I go to Edit All Export Tags accessed from a flyout in the paragraph, character, or object styles panel, I have to reassign that Class.

2. The new Text Wrap is missing all the adjustment options

   There are no adjustment options available in the 2024 version of Indesign. There are only preset options that can't be adjusted up or down in size or amount of wrapping.

3. balance columns + Span Columns = freeze

   Version: Indesign 2021; 16.0

   In a 2-column text box with "Balance columns" on, I applied "Span Columns: All" to a line of text. If I hit "OK" or turn on the preview, then Indesign freezes until I Force-Quit.

4. Find text plays an error sound when I press Return, even though it finds the text

   I have been working with indesign for a few months and already sent in about 10 bug reports. I feel like everytime I open the program I find a new issue. My colleagues say I have a knack for crashing programs or finding issues. I have a very similar problem with PS. I'm really frustrated with the UI and I can't imagine I'm the only one. I know this is a long shot, but feel free to contact me if you need a bug-spotter, because it feels like I found a lot already. And I have more issues that probably don't qualify as bugs.

5. Border is not extending when table comes

   I am using InDesign CC 2019

   Expected Result:
   While using InDesign Border Features to format box items, there is an option to Merge consecutive Border and Shading with same setting in paragraph style. This is working for text and Images. But when inline table comes in between, border is not extending for tables.

6. [ID-4216162]A splitted footnote with three lines violates keep options and makes a widow instead of an orphan

   1. Version of Adobe InDesign
      This issue appears in every InDesign versions since footnotes are supported.
      Bug reports / feature requests (from CS3 up to CS6) have been ignored in the past.

   2. Steps to reproduce the issues
      given:
      a) a footnote with three text lines
      b) splitting footnotes allowed in the footnote options
      c) keep options: at start/end of Paragraph 2/2 (2 lines at start, 2 lines at end)

   Play with the textframes hight so that the footnote is forced to be splitted. It will only split 2/1, not 1/2.

   1. Actual result
      The footnots splits with 2 lines in the textframe within the footnote starts and ends with one single line (widow) in the next textframe.

   2. Expected result
      a) best choice: hold the keep options!
      (e.g. 2 at start / 2 at end; so don't split a footnote with 3 and less lines).
      b) alternative: make an orphan (full line at the start of a footnote paragraph) instead of a widow; widows are absolutely not allowed (because they ony fill a part of a line, maybe only one word)

7. Speed up cross references

   Opening the cross reference panel can be painfully slow. This has been an issue since at least InDesign CC, but maybe now is another chance to fix this.

   Behaviour is triggered by size of document and/or number of cross references. E.g. I'm working on a ~200+ pages document with about 150 cross references – both of which isn’t that extreme – and opening the panel takes around 4 minutes (yes, minutes). Interestingly enough, if the panel once opens and I change "Link to" from "paragraph style" to "text anchor", next time the panel opens instantly. Change it back to "paragraph style", go get a coffee in the meantime. As a workaround I split up the document into several documents and put them together in a book. In these smaller docs, opening the panel is more or less instant. However, managing books is not without other drawbacks and using only text anchors for cross references is limiting for no good reason. Pleas, fix this this time around.

8. eyedropper tool

   Adobe InDesign CC 2017 (also 2018) The eyedropper tool does not work on text, when there is a second layer with data in it. On the screenshot I tried to make the text green.
   When the red layer is turned off, it works properly.

9. Crash when scaling text beound 1296 pt

   I can repeatably make InDesign crash by:

   1: Creating a big page (Mine is 250x100cm)
   2: Making a textframe and writing a short word (I wrote "café")
   3: Hit "E" and scale the frame by dragging the corners
   4: If I scale the frame so the point size is higher than 1296 pt InDesign will crash.

   I am on InDesign 15.0.2 on MacOS 10.14.6

   We’ve concluded our investigation and came up with the finding: Either the issue is fixed in the latest release of InDesign or the issue was intermittent in nature at the time of its reporting and is not reproducible now.

   We recommend you to upgrade to the latest version of InDesign 2021(v16.0.0.77) as it is more robust and contains a lot of bug fixes.

12. Bug in Adobe World-Ready Composer for Kannada Language

    Attached are Adobe Indesign document, Scribus (v1.5.3) document, PDF outputs.

    Fonts used: Hubballi available at https://github.com/erinmclaughlin/Hubballi/blob/master/build/Hubballi-Regular.otf

    Tunga: Available in Windows 10 as part of Kannada language pack.

    Scribus uses "Harfbuzz" text shaping engine. It doesn't any issue shaping Kannada text, except for one case; U+0CCD U+200D which is canonical equivalence of U+200D U+0CCD. Harfbuzz has accepted this bug and will be fixed in the next release. https://github.com/behdad/harfbuzz/issues/435 https://github.com/behdad/harfbuzz/issues/341

    Adobe indesign Adobe World-Ready Composer has lots of bugs with shaping Kannada text.

13. Incorrect reading order for anchored objects

    InDesign is placing text and objects in the incorrect reading order when exporting to accessible PDF when an anchored object is anywhere but at the bottom of the page. Instead of placing the anchored object/group of objects in the correct order, it is placing them at the end of the reading order. An example would be an anchored group of a placed Illustrator graph and it's title text box.

14. rtl paragraphs line break wrong direction issue

    In rtl text, I use rtl paragraph direction. when I add \n (forced line break) the remaining part of the text changes direction, unless I change character direction of \n character to "right to left". I use "default" as default character direction of paragraphs.

16. After Update to Indesign 18.4.: Bad Performance with anchored TextFrames and vertical jusitification

    I have a document with a text frame which is vertically justified and contains some anchored objects. Editing text in this text frame works but it is very slow in 18.4
    In version 18.3 it runs quicker.

17. Right to Left direction select opposite direction

    When we want to select a character or word by using cursor key in Arabic text, it select the opposite direction, i.e. Ctrl + Left arrow key, Shift + Left arrow key, Ctrl + Shift + Left arrow key, or Ctrl + Shift + Left arrow key, will select a character or word on the right of cursor, even if already set to "Visual" in preference for cursor movement.

19. Type tool hotkey still not working

    When moving from the direct selection tool to try to make a text box with the type tool hotkey (T), the hotkey still isn't working in InDesign. It shows temporarily as the I bar icon, and then keeps reverting to the direct selection tool or sometimes a disappearing + icon. It doesn't matter how long I wait or if I select the page or the pasteboard for the new text box (although I seem to have more succes on the pasteboard than on the page).. Also the direct selection key and the text tool frequently do not respond to the escape key. I am running InDD 15.0 on a MAC running OS 10.14.4. These features have not worked for at least a year. Experienced designers depend on hotkeys to expedite work. PLEASE fix it!!!!

20. data merge to PDF: page numbers (generated with current page number marker) don't increase

    To recreate this bug:
    1) Make a new print document 8 pages long (doesn't matter if pages are facing or not) A4 or letter size (this doesn't matter either)
    2) Go to the master page and somewhere on the master page, add a new text frame and within that frame, add an auto page number.
    3) In a text editor, create the following file for test purposes and save it with the name "test.txt" - (cut and paste the next five lines of text):
    name
    Colin
    David
    Jose
    Max
    4) Return to InDesign, go to the data merge palette and select data source (the text file that was just made). Place a text placeholder on any page (this doesn't matter where)
    5) From the data merge palette, go to Export to PDF, all records, and to the desktop is fine. Any PDF setting will work, use [High Quality Print] for this demo.
    6) view the PDF that is generated.

    WHAT SHOULD HAPPEN:
    A 32pp file should be created with page numbers going from 1-8, then 1-8 again three more times.
    WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENS:
    A 32pp file is created, but page numbers either stay on 1 (if facing pages was off) or go 1-2-1-2-1-2-1-2-1..... (if facing pages was on)

    To recreate this bug:
