Artifact Tagging
InDesign now ignores it half the time when I designate an object as an artifact in the object export options panel. I run an accessibility check on the PDF and those objects come up as errors in the alternate text check, and I have to manually desginate them all as artifacts within Acrobat. I know this is a new issue, because I've been working with the same template for several years and locked down all the objects that were supposed to remain the same month to month. Never has a problem until the 2020 update.
Thanks for reporting the issue. We are reviewing it

This is still an issue 5 years later. Under Object Export Options on an image I choose Decorative Image (no Alt Text) on the Alt Text tab, and also Apply Tag: Artifact under the Tagged PDF tab. Once exported, the PDF still fails the accessibility check for Alternate Text.

any update on this? 2021 now and still happening
Also any chance your team could fix all the other bugs that have been in the app since Indesign 3 ??
You keep adding all these extras in but don't bother fixing all the existing issues

I discovered that how the item is designated under Object > Content affects whether Artifact translates to the accessible PDF. But of course this is annoying because then you have to go through the whole document (that used to work) and change it to make it work properly.

I can confirm. Having the same issue. Version 15.1.2.226 on an iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2019) running OS 10.14.6
InDesign 14.0.3 exports the artifact tagged objects correctly, however.
