Save as clears history
Save as clears the document undo history, i'd rather it wouldn't. Say you accidentally saved a document in stead of saving as — next you 'save as' so your new work isn't lost — next you wanna undo all the stuff you've done do re-save the original document, but you can't because the history is lost.

Update snippets/version history
It would be good to have an effortless way to update the snippets. I usually work with lot of snippets and sometimes the customer wants minor changes. Now it's easier to create a new snippet instead of updating an old one.
Also, the version history could be useful to track changes.1 vote -
Non-Linear History and Undos - By page
Much like paste, paste into, paste in place, undos should be able to have some added features. Photoshop has non-linear history, which feels confusing to undo a brush from 10 steps ago. However, InDesign would greatly benefit from current page specific history, undos, searching, text, edits etc.
An example, my workflow for placing graphics and prepping captions in a document, is to do one task at a time page by page. I also use transform again individually to apply things like rotation to existing graphics, or frame fitting if I'm placing a graphic somewhere. When placing a graphic…

Batch Single Page PDF Creation
Please add an option to export ranges of pages as single page PDF files from Indesign like Illustrator(save individual artboards). This would simplfy sending pages to assembly station for imposition and corrections afterward.
12 votesHi All, this feature is now available in the latest version of InDesign i.e. InDesign 13.1
Kindly update InDesign to get access to this feature.

Book synchronize feature does not synchronize color groups
Color groups are not synchronized via the book feature. I'm happy that the colors inside the group are not lost but placed "normal" on the first level of the color panel.
But to have all book files with the same order even at the color panel would be great. So please make synchronizing work correctly even at this tiny thing.
Thanks to Heike Burch for discovering this issue.

'Fixed width' option for paragraph rules and styles
Hi There,
There's a long history in the forums for this request; Fixed width and alignment for paragraph rules.
See attached; Need a dropdown option to select 'Fixed width' and then length and alignment options.
Also need this carried over to paragraph styles.
Cheers
Ben

Visual change history in layout mode
I'm surprised why this has not been already implemented, but surely changes by multiple users (contributors) should be visible in Layout mode too. Also, a cross-checking feature between project versions should be considered. I am aware there are a number of plug-ins available, however they are not robust and surely such a low-level feature should be implemented into the main software. Most third-party office software have such features as standard.

Tour popups about History Panel and Hide Spreads fonction appears about once a day. This seems like a small detail but no, it is annoying. Thank you.

InCopy mobile?
It’s weird, but I hate to write while sitting at a desktop. I would love to be able to curl up on my couch (or at a coffee shop, or on my porch) to write and then sync the text I just wrote into a library to import into InDesign on my desktop.
I think an Adobe mobile text editor could be a lightweight and flexible solution that accomodates us tempermental writers!

InCopy should have a mobile app
Microsoft word has an app for android which can be used to write ideas while away from the computer and then open up the same file on the desktop for editing. InCopy should have the same functionality with a mobile app that can open or create an icml file to type a story. It wouldn't require any editing, only the bare bones so ideas don't get forgotten.

Adobe Fonts for Indesign Server
We have the fact that it is important for us that we have the same possibilities for processing with the Indesign Server as with the desktop. For this, it is essential that we can also retrieve and thus process the Adobe fonts via the Indesign server.
In the context of the shortage of skilled workers and the move towards automation, such processing is essential for us. The license for the fonts is already paid via the users who do the design and also via the server license, which is considerably more expensive than that of a desktop station.5 votes -
Plug-in API to temporarily disable new feature guided tours
InDesign 2025 has several new panels (History, Math Expressions, Export to Adobe Express, Insert MathML) which have associated guided “tours” which bring up windows containing animation and/or an explanation of the new feature and how to use it. The menu items for these new panels that have available guided tours are indicated by a blue dot next to the menu item before the guided tour is viewed by the user. After the guided tour has been viewed, the blue dots next to the menu items seem to disappear. These new panels and their associated guided tours sometimes open…

MathML Support
We need to have InDesign to support MathML, this is much awaited feature, but not supporting in InDesign yet.
Currently we're using 3rd party plugins such as MathType, MathTools, PowerMath, etc. but not meeting our expectation, also high license cost than InDesign.
@ALL: Please support to include this feature in InDesign in the very near release.

Work on adding more options in future releases of InDesign has started.

Bring Back the DPI!
Dear Adobe,
How could you get rid of the term DPI, especially in InDesign, and replace it with PPI?!!!! As a print designer for the last 15 years, it breaks my heart to see that the premiere software company for designers has abandoned a term that is part of the fundamental lexicon of graphic design. I am a print designer at a CA State University and it kills me that our graphic design students graduate with an BA in Art/Graphic Design without having set foot inside a print shop! Now, the software they use to layout printed pieces doesn't even…9 votes -
Make Libraries Panel Drag & Drop When Adding
Hi There,
I only use libraries for one client but am quickly discovering it's not that intuitive. It's great that libraries now isn't the default but when you need it, why can't you drag everything into it?
Obvious examples...
- You can't drag colours
- You can't drag text styles (paragraph or character)And regarding text, if you drag a text box, dragging it back should add the textbox with text etc. If you drag a text style onto an existing text box, it should only apply the style etc.
Just let us add anything to the library via drag…

Notification after background task completes
Sometimes background tasks can take a fair bit of time and we may switch to other things, take a phone call, go to lunch, meeting....If the Alerts panel was more about notifications, we would be able to know a bit more of what has happened with the task - if it completed, how long it took or even provide a link to view or email the exported PDF.

Add conditions to Data Merge
There should be conditions in data merge to include or exclude text based on the data in a record. For example, consider a set of business cards. Some users might have a Twitter handle or mobile number, some might not. Currently there is no way to omit empty fields and any text that might go with it, like an "M" and tab to prefix a mobile number and the line break after it. There should be a way to make that text conditional on whether the field is empty or what is in it.
e.g. IF @mobile<>"",M^t@mobile^p,,)
If the mobile…
