  1. InDesign typekit fonts and sometimes activation does not work when network connectivity is lost

I work during commute and travel on my laptop and the past few versions have not been able to utilize typekit fonts without internet connection.

Issues often persist even after reconnecting. There are many errors that arise when network switches status.

This makes me unable to adjust layouts since there is no way to know the space taken up by the font. This has also cost me hours in slow tech support from adobe. Hours of lost productivity because of this bug that has been unbelievably overlooked.

If there is anything else I can do to help fix…

  2. World Ready Paragraph Composer not working for Tibetan

    Adobe 2017.1 release, build 12.1.0.56

Adobe World-Ready Paragraph Composer (AWRPC) for Tibetan fonts does not work in InDesign. While this was not an issue in CS4 since the Adobe Paragraph Composer (APC) was working well for at least two fonts (Jomolhari-ID and SambhotaUnicode), it has become an issue preventing us from using any later versions of InDesign: the APC became unusable for Jomolhari (our main font), and since the AWRPC was never completely working, we are now in a situation where neither APC or AWRPC works… (though SambhotaUnicode still works for APC only).

    Jomolhari-ID can be downloaded…

  3. Using text variables causes highlighting text in PDF to be inconsistent/scrumbled

When exporting to PDF from a file including text variables, it results in text in pdf that it is impossible to highlight correctly. and therefore - it is impossible to mark PDF comments on it. Screenshot and PDF files are attached.
It only happened with ARIAL font, and only in certain book files (that were created in previous ID version). I couldn't recreate the bug in another file.
When I removed the text variables the PDF was exported fine.
I also had another kind of conditional text I made in these files - it was a sentence…

  4. InDesign very slow after update to 16.0 (x64), especially data merge

Opening the app takes well over half a minute, used to be within 5 sec. Closing with save can take over a minute for a single master page with three variable placeholders. The app feels sluggish to use and there is a visible delay after performing any action, ranging between a fraction of a second and a few seconds.

This last one has always been the case, but after update it is even worse: exporting a PDF using data merge renders the machine unusable. Mouse cursor moves with visible skips and lengthy delay between those skips, regardless of complexity of…

  5. Critical PDF Export Issue - InDesign 17.4

The font "Josefin Slab Thin" is "active", while it simultaneously errors that it can't find it, and continues trying to download the font in the background. I tried exporting the file on 2 different Adobe accounts and had the same issue with this font. Upon attempting to uninstall InDesign through the CC app, the "uninstall" button 'clicks' but does nothing. No loading button or anything.

  7. alternate layout - copy text variables (just like styles to new group)

I had a job that was originally designed to be a PDF online in color. Then at the last minute, the client asked for a B&W version for print (to keep costs down). They still weren't done editing so I made an alternate layout and checked "copy styles to new group", then made all the color adjustments to those styles and the new B&W master pages. However, I had a running header in the original version. Well, the running header on the B&W version picked up the last section head from the color version, making the B&W version incorrect. I…

  8. Selecting text is offset slightly so you select the wrong characters

Selecting text is sometimes really difficult as where you click is slightly off from what InDesign thinks you're clicking on. That means that when you highlight a word, it often misses the first character that you're trying to select. You then have to move the cursor slightly over another character for it to highlight it.

It's really frustrating as it doesn't seem to happen in all documents. The ones I'm having issues with at the moment use the customer's own font but I've been using that same font for about 5 years with no issues until now.

    I'm using InDesign…

  9. World-Ready Composer Is messing up the kerning in Latin fonts

I have reported a variation of this—back with CS6—but it seems not to have been fixed. I assume it's a bug, but if someone can enlighten me about what I might be doing wrong and how I can fix this, I'd appreciate it.

I often work on books that include Arabic and Hebrew words and phrases in the middle of English text. They only way to get the Arabic ligatures to form is to use one of the World Ready composers. When I do that, though, the kerning around some English characters often—but not always—is affected. I have tried turning…

  10. Shortcuts messed up after update to CC

    InDesign CC 12.1.0.56 (2017.1)
    MacOS Sierra 10.12.5

    (1) The default super- and subscript shortcuts (cmd+shift+= and ctrl+cmd+shift+=) do not work on mac num keyboard. Had to change shortcuts.
    (2) When using the default shortcut for italics (cmd+shift+I) the text is changed to "Heavy Italic" instead of "Italic" with the (legal) Avenir Next font family.

  11. OpenType features bug, missing glyphs on PDF export and convert to outlines

I've run into a bug when converting text to outlines, and PDF export, relating to OpenType Features.

I have a font, Chartwell, that has worked perfectly in InDesign for 13+ years. I recently received this bug report from a customer, but am able to recreate it on my end.

In InDesign’s UI, everything still seems to work correctly. However, when exporting a PDF or converting the text to outlines, some glyphs disappear completely. (See image)

The font uses complex Discretionary Ligatures to pull off substituting pie chart shapes. The issue doesn't appear for all discretionary ligatures, but something about…

  12. Type 1 error when opening InDesign file not reflected in Find/Replace Fonts window

I now regularly get a pop-up blue box error message regarding Type 1 fonts in the files I'm working in. Example: "Your document contains 6 Type 1 fonts." However, if I open Find/Replace Font dialoge, the summary at top of window says "Type 1 fonts : 0". That error message is annoying AND incorrect -- unless the Find/Replace Fonts window is incorrect. Can these be updated to align their messages?
I'm using InDesign v.17.0.1. on Windows 10 Enterprise

  13. Not all fonts are collected in a package.

This is for InDesign 14.0.2 x64

To reproduce the issue, package any file and be sure the include fonts option is ON.

Expected result is, as it ever was, that all fonts used in the document will be included in the "Fonts" folder of the resulting packaged file.

Actual result is that some or all of the fonts are omitted.

  14. In-Design still doesn't support the Automated Numbers in "Devanagari Script" Indic Language Marathi & Hindi

Hello Team, since i am using In-design for my work almost everyday, and a die hard fan for using Unicode fonts for Indian Language (JFYI I mostly work in Hindi + Marathi languages and Devanagari Script used by both these languages) and I use many fonts including that of Adobe and locally developed Unicode fonts

the Major issue I am facing is In-Design still doesn't support the Automated Numbers in "Devanagari Script" they still appear in English / Roman Numerals, which is a very annoying thing to see page numbers & auto numbered lists Showing Numbers in…

  16. InDesign False Ligatures Bug

InDesign sometimes, seemingly randomly, replaces pairs such as hn, il, io, sy, ek, etc. with completely wrong glyph, such as accented Y, U, etc., when regular Ligature setting is applied. This has been a problem since CS5 and we recently had it occur in CC2015, so it is still there. Affected fonts have been many over the years, including licensed Adobe fonts. Fonts can be Open Type or PostScript. Language setting can be English US, UK, or seemingly anything else. The only thing that works to avoid it is to turn off Ligatures which is generally unacceptable,…

    Hi,
We are unable to reproduce the issue in-house.

In case you have some consistent steps to reproduce the issue from scratch, please feel free to send a mail at amaarora@adobe.com or start a new thread on this portal

    Thanks

  17. Text formatting is lost when copy/pasting a text box to another document.

When Copying a text box from one document to another, the formatting is lost and is highlighted red (indicating missing font?). The font changes to from Arial to Helvetica as substitution.
Both documents are updated to the current file format.
The box copies and pastes as a basic text frame.

I'm able to reformat everything to match the other document, but I don't know why it's losing the formatting.
    I'm using Windows 10 Pro version 1909.

  19. Arabic

Using Adobe Arabic font, and paragraph set to Adobe World-Ready Paragraph Composer, when I copy in Arabic with a period at the end of the sentence, InDesign is interpreting the period as Roman/English text and placing it to the far right of the sentence, instead of at the end of the sentence (far left).

This is new since I last worked in these files in March of this year.
