  1. InDesign Color Settings Are Overwritten by Other Versions

    Summary:
    InDesign is unable to maintain separate color settings for each version. Whenever a different version is activated, the color settings are forcibly overwritten by the last activated version.

    Steps to Reproduce:
    Launch InDesign 2025 and set the color settings to “Preset A” (e.g., a print vendor’s recommended settings).
    Launch and activate InDesign 2024.
    Without any warning, InDesign 2024 will adopt the same Preset A color settings.
    This also occurs in the opposite direction: activating either version will overwrite the other’s previously configured color settings.

    Expected Behavior:
    Like Photoshop and Illustrator, InDesign should maintain independent color settings for each version.

  2. Can't delete InDesign color swatch

    Documents inherit a swatch from a picked-up file and the swatch can not be deleted.

    1) This problem has existed for us since at least InDesign CS4 and persists through the current CC 2018 build (13.1).

    2) In the attached file, "Select All Unused" in the Swatches panel. There is no content at all in the file. All objects have been deleted, as have all text and object styles. Try to delete the unused process color swatch, "C=80 M=76 Y=70 K=73."

    3) We expect the unused swatch to be deleted.

    4) Trash can icon in Swatches panel is grayed out…

  3. Adobe InDesign 2024(v19.0) - Users are facing issues while scrolling using Trackpad/Touchpad

    I have installed the upgrade to Adobe InDesign 2024 (build 19.0) while keeping version 2023 (build 18.5) and have encountered the following problem:

    • After opening a document, the mouse scroll wheel does not seem to work (i.e. it is not possible to scroll up or down the contents of a page). However, this condition still works in InDesign version 2023.

    Has anyone encountered the same problem and found a solution?

  4. InCopy: Notes in text shifting randomly when exported as PDF.

    InCopy version 18 and 19.

    To recreate the issue : add a note to any point of a text paragraph in InCopy and export the document as PDF. This results in the note (yellow sticky note) shifting randomly within the PDF document.

    What should happen is that the yellow sticky note should be in the area of where the note was initially anchored in InCopy, after you export it as PDF.

  5. Mouse Latency Issues

    Indesign 13.0; macOS High Sierra 10.13; Macbook Pro 15" 2015

    When using the trackpad the cursor lags even when the display mode is changed to fast. This lag is quite visible even in small size documents.

  6. Problems saving Indesign CC 2018 files directly onto a server

    I have an issue saving Indesign CC 2018 files onto our server.

    I have attached two examples of the error messages we get.

    The only way we can work is to save the Indesign file, on to the Desktop and then moving over manually.

    We have installed the latest version of Indesign CC 2018 and MacOS High Sierra (Version 10.13.2).

    Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

  7. Data merge doesn't work with UTF-8 unicode file

    DataMerge is failing to import UTF 8 text as Unicode.

    1. Create UTF 8 Text file for merging.
    2. Open previously functional InDesign document with keys already established.
    3. Select data source
    4. Choose text file (UTF8 no BOM) (if you have BOM, file isn't recognized)
    5. Tick show import options (never needed to do this before)
    6. Make sure its Unicode.
    7. Data still comes in in ASCII even though I chose Unicode. This has to be a merge problem because I can cut and paste the data into the InDesign file without issue.

  8. Share for Review - Critical Scrolling Bug with Large Documents

    Indesign Version 17.0

    When scrolling in large documents (200-500 pages) the browser-window of Share for Review the screen hops between 3-5 different screens multiple times a second. This bug makes the feature basically unusable. Sometimes it snaps back (maybe after rendering correctly?), sometimes it just doen't.

    The bigger the document, the faster the error seems to occur. Working on my 200 page-document with my team is essentially impossible right now.

  9. Cursor spins and text display lags while typing

    ISSUE: While typing, text display will freeze/lag, and the cursor will change to a loading icon for about 2 seconds, then the text will finally appear all at once after the loading icon changes back to a regular cursor. This happens while typing in a regular text box.

    EXPECTED RESULT: I expect text to appear on screen immediately as I press the key on the keyboard, not after a 2 second lag.

  10. Performance GPU

    Issue at hand. The latest InDesign and Illustrator have poor GPU performance. All of my fonts and graphics are "blurry" and Pixlelated. No one has called me back, and am pretty disappointed.

  11. Adobe Fonts automatically substituting versions of fonts that are document-stalled

    When I open an InDesign file that has been packaged with all the fonts (non-Adobe Fonts) included in the Document fonts folder, if I happen to have the same version of the font activated in Adobe Fonts, InDesign automatically, and without warning, substitutes the Adobe Fonts version. This is a major problem. The heirarchy should be document-installed fonts FIRST, then InDesign can look in Adobe Fonts and suggest replacing it.   12. Typographer's Quotes bug?

    I've encountered an issue with Typographer's Quotes not working. I've searched extensively online and tried all the usual suspects (Typographer's Quotes is on in preferences, both Document and without any documents open; reset preferences) but I've been unable to fix them.

    After further investigation, it seems that the issue only occurs using a single typeface (Skolar Latin, installed as OTF versions in Windows 10 Pro itself, rather than via Typekit).   13. Background Tasks panel

    I'm not trying to post an idea or add something.
    I merely want the Background Tasks panel to actually be useful!

    When a file fails to export... no reason is given! Just that it failed. WTH? How can that in any way be deemed to be a "reason" or much less... useful in finding the issue and fixing it?

    A fail reason... bad font, corrupt file.

  14. publish online mobile

    InDesign 16.4

    When i publish a document using 'publish online' it doesn't work correctly on mobile. When you first load it up on mobile the navigation bar at the bottom is there, but if you click anything on the page the navigation bar disappears. This then means you can't navigate through the rest of the brochure.

    I've tried this on multiple mobile browsers including Chrome, Edge & Brave and the same happens on each.

    This is a major issue for us as a lot of people will want to view this document on mobile.

  15. Footnotes Still Disappearing: Please Update Your Customers

    Adobe: The bug described in "[Performance] Footnote disappears" back in October 2019 is still plaguing users.

    The last update from Adobe is from March 2020 and claims that this bug is under review.

  16. Can not paste text in inDesign

    I am running InDesign CC 13.1 on osMac High Sierra, and am unable to COPY text from any web browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox) and PASTE it into inDesign. It crashes every time. I AM able to paste the text into a Pages document and THEN copy/paste into inDesign — but all character information is gone (formatting, alignment, spacing, etc.)

    To identify the cause of this issue, we had started our investigation with the aim to resolve it. You might have also received email from us seeking more details to help in our investigation.

    We’ve concluded our investigation and came up with the finding : Either the issue is fixed in the latest release of InDesign or the issue was intermittent in nature at the time of its reporting and is not reproducible now.

    We recommend you to upgrade to the latest version of InDesign 2020.0.1 (if you’re not already on it). It contains a lot of stability fixes.

    If you still face this issue even after updating to the latest version of InDesign, please submit the crash report to us. (The guidelines to submit crash are available at (https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/kb/submit-crash-reports.html)

    1. VERSION: 19.4

    2. ISSUE: If you create a multi-level list (1, 1.1, 1.2.3, etc) and export as an accessible PDF the list structure is not correct and presents the incorrect "List level" to the reader when using any assistive technology.

    EXPECTED RESULTS: When a new level of a list is created the sublist's <L> goes INSIDE the <LBody> tag to properly indicate the list is sublevel.

    ACTUAL RESULTS: In the most recent build of InDesign, the <L> is just a sibling of the <LBody>. This is not only incorrect an a violation of PDF/UA-1, it also requires fixing EVERY TIME…

  18. Adobe Fonts wont load

    Hello,

    While creating a document I was trying to discover a new font. I clicked Fonts > Find More and where a list of adobe fonts usually pops up, I got nothing. I tried creating a new text box, signing in and out of adobe, and closing / opening the document.

    Attached please find a screen grab of the issue.

    I'd love an assist if possible.

  20. AIGPUSniffer quit unexpectedly every time I launch Indesign CC 14.0.1

    I am using Indesign CC14.0.1 on a MAC - OS Mojave V 10.14.1
    Whenever I launch Indesign I get a crash pop up saying AIGPU Sniffer has quit unexpectedly.
    Indesign is fine to work in however I am fed up with this AIGPU issue coming up all the time and don't know if it is effecting anything else?
    I've had loads of issues with the latest CC - really not impressed Adobe! Any suggestions on how to stop this happening?
