Text margins don't change when master pages are applied
>>Version: InDesign CC2019
>
> Steps to reproduce: Apply a new Master page, with different margins, to a document page with text frame
> Expected result: Text frame should resize to fit the new margins of the master page (as before with Layout Adjustment enabled)
> Actual result: Page margins change but text frame stays the same. Useless! I have to manually adjust the text block to fit the new margins.>I work in book publishing. When laying out a book, it's often necessary to make changes to the margins of certain pages, either to accommodate the dropped opening

Error on Inset Spacing on Text Frame
>>>The Inset spacing on a Text Frame can be set to keep text from the edge of a box as in previous versions. However I am finding that when I request the frame be resized to fit the text exactly the bottom inset is not being recognised. Is this an recognised issue?

Bizarre issue: footnote appearing in middle of text frame
>>>Never seen this one before! Changing some text to a style that uses split columns caused one of the footnotes in the text frame to jump to ABOVE the styled text. I can't even understand how this is possible given the logic of the software. See screenshot. I would like my footnotes to stay at the foot of the frame, please.

formatted text

- >importing pdf comments that have bold and italic text in the replacement text >
- >that it would show as bold or italic in the pdf comment dialog box >
- >shows all text as none formatted >
>I can understanding it would be difficult to get that text to change to bold/italic when i click accept, but if i at least saw that it was bold/italic in the preview box i'd know to make that edit manually.

importing multiple illustrator artboards into empty frames no longer works
>>>With the 2021 version of indesign I could 'load' my cursor with an illustrator file and select 'all' artboards, then i could 'drop' each artboard into an empty indesign frame - this no longer works in the 2022 version (17.2). Instead it just drops the first image in and the loaded cursor 'cancels'.

Fit frame to content not working for text
>>>I recently updated to the newest version of InDesign (v 16.0) and "fit frame to content" is not working properly for any of my text boxes. It is leaving about 0.13in at the top of all of my text, and is making aligning in my layout extremely difficult. I double checked to make sure my baselines are set to 0 and my text boxes are set to Align to top, but nothing seems to be fixing it.

CC2020: Alternate text for hyperlinks
>>In CC2020 a new function for writing alternate text for links was introduced.
>
> Using this function and generating a PDF Leeds to wrong PDF notation. The alt text in PDF is presented by alt text, which is forbidden in the PDF world, where alt text only should be used for non text elements, e.g. pictures. By presenting only the alt text the accessibility is lost – this is against the goal to hav a better output!

[ID-4256174]InDesign crashes while searching any font/word, etc., which is in overset text.
>>>We have simple scripts that operate on script labels to Find and Replace Text, adjust Text Size, things like that. We've been using them for three years with no problems prior to v2025. They crash and bring up the option to send an error report. We're rolling back to 2024 now, we can't operate efficiently without these scripts.

To identify the cause of this issue, we had started our investigation with the aim to resolve it. You might have also received an email from us seeking more details to help in our investigation.
We’ve concluded our investigation and came up with the finding: Either the issue is fixed in the latest release of InDesign or the issue was intermittent in nature at the time of its reporting and is not reproducible now.
We recommend you to upgrade to the latest version of InDesign 2021(v16.0.0.77) as it is more robust and contains a lot of bug fixes.
We seek your support in our continual effort to improve InDesign.

alternate layout - copy text variables (just like styles to new group)
>>I had a job that was originally designed to be a PDF online in color. Then at the last minute, the client asked for a B&W version for print (to keep costs down). They still weren't done editing so I made an alternate layout and checked "copy styles to new group", then made all the color adjustments to those styles and the new B&W master pages. However, I had a running header in the original version. Well, the running header on the B&W version picked up the last section head from the color version, making the B&W version

Insering Anchroed text frame object shifts the vowels on referenced Arabic/Persian/Urdu text frame

ID 2020 15.1 - All text variables (including page numbers) replaced by "ss" text
>>Just updated to ID 2020 15.1 and found a bug which makes the program unusable forcing me to immediately downgrade.
…
> When I open on of my ID documents created in previous version of ID, all of my defined text variables as well as page numbers are corrupted and replaced by the "ss" text. Changing the style has no effect. I can create page number based on the 'Basic Paragraph' style but when i choose any other previously created style, the number changes to 'ss'.
> Even the variable field preview shows 'ss' text instead of variable name.

Index Panel's Update Preview Button Causes Hard Crash
>>The Index panel will cause InDesign to crash if you click the update preview button when a three-layer index entry has no text in the second layer.
>>I figured out what causes the crash with 100% reproducable results. Here's how you do it.
