Save to Server vs cloud option
We save all of our files on a shared work server and keep track of versions and final files all on a shared server not through the cloud which also allows all non-adobe ID users to review files as well. We would like to be able to use the share function as we already use it in Acrobat but would love to select where the review file is stored.

Uncheck Shared Hyperlink Destination by default
In the panel 'New Hyperlink' the box 'Shared Hyperlink Destination' is by default checked. I always (must) uncheck it. Two questions: can I reset these default-settings somewhere. (I think not - but I'll like to do that). There is no possibility to put this check on/off under a shortcut. That should be nice for automation-purpose.
48 votesThe fix of the issue is now available in the latest InDesign 2026(v21.0.0.192). We recommend you upgrade to the latest version for the fix.
If you are unable to see the update, go to the Creative Cloud application, click on the context menu on the top right, and click on Check for App Updates.

Global spellcheck that does not review Master pages
Have "Lorem Ipsum" default to "No Language" when used on master pages - or provide a spellcheck bypass of master pages option. We have deliverable templates that we are working from - but the designer used "Lorem Ipsum" for all the text including different paragraph styles. Or is there a way to globally select all text boxes on the 70 master pages - to change to a "no language" setting?

Enable Hyperlinks to Stay Live in PDFs ... Even After Importation into InDesign
Hi folks
We have figured out a 'work-around' to the problem of maintaining live hyperlinks in PDFs throughout the entire exporting/importing process in InDesign. However, it's purely a bandaid - although it works well. It would be great to have this process built in as a feature. I've attached a PDF with our workflow methodologies for your review.

Preferences > Units & Increments should be application, not document preferences
Under Preferences > Units & Increments, the Keyboard Increments preferences should be application wide, not document specific.
People share documents and templates and have their own way of working. They expect keyboard shortcuts to work consistently. It is unintuitive if in one file point size and leading change in two point increments and in another they change in one point increments. There is no reason for these preferences to be document specific rather than application specific.

Start supporting "Working off Network Drives/shares"
Users are expected to download files to their local HDD and then work the project locally before committing it to a server/file share. this is ridiculous to ask. some of these files are huge and would consume the HDD space on the MAC/PC, let alone the network traffic and congestion they would create saving back and forth. Adobe needs to fix this issue so that users can work on a file and save to network share for other designers to work. InDesign and all products from adobe have this behavior. locking for sometimes days before someone is able to…

InDesign share link paths between two documents
We send InDesign documents out for translation. (Without packaging photos because those don't have to be translated.) But when we get the translated ID doc back, sometimes the links to our server won't work, or just some of them work and we have to manually relink may of the graphics in a 12-page document. I'd like to be able to open the Spanish version of a document and tell is to copy all the link paths for graphics from the English version of the document. GAME CHANGER!!! We're sometimes translating documents into 12 languages, and I have to re-link ALL…

Publish Online: Comment Mode NEEDED! :)
I think in order to compete with the other tools out there, CC needs to add Comment Mode into their Publish Online feature. That way we can share documents with clients and partners and have them provide feedback right there. Please think about doing this, and soon :)

Pop window note
I work within teams that open and close ID files. The existing noting and share for review is just too slow and complex for the majority of the work we do. It would be absolutely amazing if you could save a simple twitter style small note when saving. So when the next person that opens the file can read it as soon as it pops up on open and can either choose to keep it / ignore or dismiss the note. Which will get rid of it. And you can only save one note to the saved file which will…

Enable easy batching of GREP Find/Change queries & expandable 'entry window'
Hi there,
Rather than rely on third-party software (or convoluted scripts), there should be an option to batch GREP queries together in the Find/Change menu.
Also, it would be nice (for more extensive/complicated GREPs) to be able to expand the window in general (pertaining to both Find/Change's GREP tab and the equivalent menu for GREP styles elsewhere) when entering the expressions.
As an addendum to that last point, at the very least InDesign should have a built in (expandable) panel for copying and pasting complicated GREP syntax without having to worry about certain syntax items disappearing if copied and pasted…

Allow us to create PDF (or postscript file) for thumbnails.
Currently InDesign will not let me create a PDF of thumbnails for a document. This would be valuable because I could then send a compact PDF file to a colleague for layout review, before sending the full PDF.
Alternatively, allow the creation of a PostScript file. Right now, if I try do do it in the printer menu, it disables the thumbnails options; if I try to use it via the Printer… button, it seems to work — even asking me to pick the filename — but does not create the PS file.

Please allow the ID/IC workflow to function with the Creative Cloud Files area
Right now, if you store your InDesign and InCopy files in CC Files and share (collaborate) that folder with your team, all the files are synced EXCEPT the lock files for InDesign and InCopy. This prevents users working on the same project from knowing if someone else has opened an InDesign file or has checked out a story (ICML) file. SO people try to use Dropbox, Google Drive, or Box, all of which have figured out how to sync the lock files for checked-out stories at least. No one as far as I know has been able to sync the…

Saved searches in CC Libraries
It would be great to be able to share searches via CC libraries, for example GREP searches in InDesign are extremely usable but not all users have the knowledge to create them. To be able to share them with your team would be very useful

enable paragraph style groups to be added to CC libraries
Can you create the ability to group paragraph styles in CC libraries as they can in an InDesign file or template.
The idea is to have various groups of styles that apply to different document types that we create, and be able to share these across users in the company.6 votes -
Allow Author to mark comment as complete without removing the reference.
Currently, if I (the author) mark something as "resolved", it removes the comment and prevents the person who created the comment from being able to easily see what they have done and how it was resolved.
it would be nice for people invited to review to see what past comments they have made (maybe grey out a comment that is marked "Resolved" so that they can go back to that page and see. Then, if it is not done to satisfaction, they could un-resolve it.
