  1. Wavy line needs customize option!

We need “Wavy line” customize option, such as:
    (1) weight (2) wave height (3) wavelength (4) single/double line selection
    (see fig1.png and fig2.png)

Current wavy line design is not good for professional.
When we change weight, the wavy size is automatically changed. We can’t control the size of wave.
When we need to control the size and shape of wavy line, we have to create appropriate one by Illustrator, then link them. This takes lots of times of us.
"Wavy line" customize option will definitely help us a lot.
Japanese clients often designate to use wavy lines to underline.

  2. Ideas to improve PublishOnline document navigation

I often get reports back from clients and users that 'there is only one page in that online link you sent'. I figure if I get a report back like this, there must be a fair few more who experience this but don't report back...

Viewing a PDF document online via a UI like this is not a common experience for many user types. To improve their experience I propose:

    – An option to always show the page thumbnail selector.
    – Larger, more prominent page left and right arrows.
    – Option to advance through pages on scroll down (or view…

  3. Improvement Indesign Accessibility Features

I use Indesign to create accessible PDFs but there are a few features that should be there.

    TABLES
Automatic Header Column and Header Row tagging. At the moment Header Column is recognized but not Header Row. If this was implemented you could go a step further and add ID tags and scope automatically. This would be a huge time saver since this all has to be done manually in Acrobat. It would also be nice to have an option to specify the Title of the table as a caption tag.

    FOOTNOTES
At the moment you have to add the proper…

  4. Allow 'Find in Book' to search for text in all documents of an InDesign book

I am writing a book, using the InDesign Book feature.
My book has 18 chapters, each a different InDesign document.
I would like to be able to search for all occurrences of text, without having to open each document. I would like the results to be a panel something like Adobe Acrobat's Find in Files panel.

This is useful when I think I've written on a topic in some other chapter, and want to link text in the current chapter to the other chapter.

  5. Multi-relinking with one click

In large projects like catalogues in different languages on own layers, I often have to relink a lot of identical signets (eps) with the appropriate ones in another language on another layer. Sadly it seems to be impossible to do that with one single click. I have to relink every single file separately. The command "Relink all instances …" only works at link folders but not on a group of selected links filtered with the layers in the links panel column. It would be great to relink only a selection of links of…

  6. Preview Image for InDesign Published Documents

It would be great if published InDesign files could have an image preview option for the link. It make sharing the link easier

  7. Indesign creates an incorrect href for Acrhive.org links

When InDesign creates the href for a link from Archive.org it does not href to archive.org, but to the dead link.

    example: the typed link is
    "https://web.archive.org/web/20220320173121/https://freewheelingeasy.com/
    creates an href for "https://freewheelingeasy.com/"
rather than the correct href of "https://web.archive.org/web/20220320173121/https://freewheelingeasy.com/"

  8. Allow InCopy to track which file is imported (either by filename, path link?)

I work in magazines, and we go through several Word file versions of a story before it gets placed into the layout (InDesign/InCopy workflow). There have been times when the story has been updated after the copy has been imported into the magazine, and it would be great to see which version is currently in the layout to ensure we're working with the most recent versions of the Word file. Just as you can see the linked images placed in InDesign, InCopy should be able to show the filename in which the copy was imported from!

  9. Better use linked excel files

There should be a way to link to an excel doc, remove unnecessary columns or rows, change the formatting and/or ad paragraph/character styles, so that if the excel doc is updated (with new pricing or different demographics or something) just the information that remains is updated. As of now, if the excel doc is updated, all the work in InDesign (aside from table style) is completely removed and you're forced to either start from scratch, or continue with out of date information.

  10. Link font size value between paragraph style

Add the feature to set the font size (and other value) as percentage, based on a "root" style. For example: create a "root" paragraph style with the size font set to 10 pt. Create a new paragraph style "first" based on "root" style and set the font size value to 110%. (=11pt). If the the font size of "root" style change, automatically change the font dimensioni in "first" style proportionally. Like the in the CSS language.

  11. Convert image file types in InDesign instead of Photoshop

Rather than opening an image link in photoshop to make changes (such as converting from .TIFF to JPEG, RGB to CMYK, etc), allow InDesign to convert the images either within the program or as a package/export option.

  13. Faster way of following hyperlinks

Make it so Ctrl-clicking a hyperlink (or cross-reference) takes you to the destination instead of having to clumsily open a dialog box, find the link, and push the corresponding button. (Didn't Pagemaker do this long ago?)

  14. XML Enhancements

InDesign is having huge XML limitations, even we cannot handle below mentioned basic options:

    (1) Find and Replace the XML Tags with / without Parent XML Tags
    (2) Find and Replace the XML Attributes based on the selected XML Tags
    (3) Converting the selected contents in InDesign into XML Comments
    (4) Copy and paste the contents directly in InDesign from any XML editors without losing XML Tags and XML Attributes
    (5) Show all selected XML Tags with relevant page numbers with link to locate the contents

    Much more…

If Adobe is start thinking on improving / breaking these requirements, will…

  15. Links panel: Place time

In "Links panel" we already have the option to add or change the columns displaying usefull info about the linked object. Choosing "Place Date" is an option to show the date when the object was placed.
Now... it would be neat if, in addition, the column could show the "time" as well.

  16. Hyperlinks should create automatically https and individual Alt-Text for mail-hyperlink

Interactive PDF creation should automatically create "https:" instead of the obsolete "http" for the hyperlinks. It should be possible to enter your own "alt" text for the e-mail link - this looks like an error when the user hovers over it with the mouse and gets %%%, etc. Therefore, unfortunately, I still solve it with a hyperlink "mailto:",... because at least this is also displayed here again. A sorting function for the hyperlinks would also be great - i.e. a folder system. Accessibility should also be significantly simplified here - that would be great.

  17. Use Keyboard arrows to go through links list

When I want to check the links in the links menu and I have klicked on one of them, I thought it could be time saving if I could just use the arrows of my keyboard to "scroll up and down" through them. Right now you have to always klick with your mouse on one of them, you can´t use the arrows to go through them.

  18. Automatic version control for Share for Review

Would it be possible for InDesign to apply version control (like GitHub) to Share for Review? What if, for example, designers could choose a versioning standard in the preferences panel (e.g. 1.0.1 vs 2020.v1.1) which is then activated when you Share for Review and updated every time the link is updated?

  19. Proper Relative Path Manager for Links

Allow us the ability to specify relative paths to linked assets to aid in duplication of jobs and production work.

A copied file will remember all static addresses to it's previous location.

In a scenario of using templates to complete jobs where assets get replaced and flipped, you lose time linking assets to the new address when the copied ID file should be able to look within it's new HOME FOLDER, and attempt to refresh all links.

Exporting from said file is also problematic, as the destination folder is still the "original location" and not the new…

  20. Footnotes in Separate Detached Frame.

It is a very important feature to be able to customise the layout of footnotes with full control. Currently footnotes in InDesign are attached to the main text frame, & you have no control over it.

We suggest being able to have footnotes in a separate fully customisable text frame, while still being linked to the main frame!
