After a gap of 4 years between jobs where I'm using InDesign daily, I'm amazed this still hasn't been addressed. Really shouldn't be difficult, Adobe.

It is unbelievable to me that InDesign does not support Australian journalism and media by including our dictionary - and then charge a premium on our country. Please include it, or offer the software to us cheaper.

It is nearly impossible to find genuine spelling errors in a 500 page book using US/UK dictionaries.
I've used FrameMaker, Robohelp, InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop and generally loved the experience, but I'm amazed at shortfalls such as this that many other companies seem to manage with ease.

Yes, indeed!! After spending ages making sure Word 365 for Mac was using Australian English spelling and grammar, when importing text into InDesignthe text has defaulted to American English spelling and grammar. The audience for this book is mostly Australian or British. It is unlikely it will ever be published in the US or that many people there, other than relatives who will receive a copy, would be interested. Is there a plug-in I can get to fix this problem? If I was writing for an American audience, then of course I would be happy to use the American English spell and grammar checker.

It should be a matter of importance. There are loads of Australian users who are being discriminated against. I invariably refer back to my Macquarie Dictionary - which is very bulky and it's time consuming.

I totally agree, there are a lot of large organisations in Australia needing to use InDesign with Australia English and its just becomes annoying having to go back to word or other programs to double check spelling.

Yes please - I am an OZ user of Indesign since 2008 - that's ten years of use - and not having an Australian dictionary has been frustrating. So please do. And to reiterate Australian English is not the same as UK English - there are plenty of distcinct differences

As a long time user of InDesign, (v1) this has been a constant frustration for me.
While we can't stop US English being introduced by stealth (code, html, etc.), there is, as Colin Flashman indicated in his well reasoned and well written article, Australian English and UK English are not exactly the same.
This probably isn't hard to fix Adobe.. Demonstrate a little support for a country of early adopters that are paying about $900 per year to use your apps.
