  1. Error Code 4 / Fehler Code 4: for not damaged documents

    1. Adobe Indesin CC 13.01 After the last Update of Indesign time by time suddenly Indesign report a damaged file if you try to open any InDesign-Document.

    Everytime after restarting the Mac everything is good and I'm fortunally able to open all o these documents.

    Sometimes restarting Indesign helps, but not always.

    The last 3 days it happens much to often und it nervs.

  2. Export and Save As dialogs not showing up in MacOS Monterey

    1. 16.4
    2. Installed MacOS Monterey then InDesign Export or Save As dialogs stopped working.
    3. Export or Save As dialogs should be showing up
    4. Export or Save As dialogs not showing up with either keyboard shortcuts or when using the dropdown menu.

  3. stalls intermittently, seconds to minutes of spinning beach ball or Application not responding

    Stalls to a spinning beach ball intermittently during use. Add images in frames, move images or add text, what-ever, it suddenly just stalls and can take seconds to minutes before clearing. CS6, the CC2017 worked fine. Now CC2018 seems to have regressed in performance. I have to FORCE QUIT at times. MacOS Sierra 10.12.6

    Hello All,

    Thank you for your patience all this while.
    We had launched our investigation into the matter to get to the root cause of the problem. As the part of our investigation, we had reached out to many of you personally over email.
    We have concluded our investigation and have come up with few findings.

    1. For many of the users the issue got fixed after updating InDesign to a newer version.
    2. For some, the issue got resolved after disabling a third-party application such as Suitecase fusion etc.
    3. For few, the issue was intermittent and is no longer reproducible.
    4. For majority of the users, the underlying cause of the performance issue was identified to be related to span columns, cross-references, third party plugin etc.

    We have created separated threads for these issues and we are now working towards resolving them.

  4. [ID-4245419]Auto-Sizing of text frames results in abnormally long widths

    InDesign 2023 v18.1 (Probably occurs in all versions after CS6)
    Japanese Version
    English Version
    Mac snd Windows

    There is a terrible bug in Auto-Sizing for text frames that causes the width to become unusually long.

    Simple and reliable reproduction procedure

    1. Create a new document
    2. Set all units to points in Preferences
    3. Create a new text frame
    4. Set paragraph style to “Basic Paragraph” and clear overrides
    5. Set Auto-Sizing
      -->Change to “Height and Width” --> Click the upper left corner -->Turn on “No Line Breaks”
    6. Insert Spacing to 1 pt
    7. Corner Options to 1 pt and Round
    8. Enter “0 [Line Break]” repeatedly…

    The fix of the issue is now available in InDesign 2024(v19.4.0.063) and above. We recommend you upgrade to the latest version for the fix.

    If you are unable to see the update, go to the Creative Cloud application click on the context menu on the top right, and click on Check for App Updates.

  5. Share for Review fails to update

    No issue creating a Share for Review. However updating an existing Share for Review results in an endlessly spinning blue circle and the link does not update.

  6. Presentation mode (shift+w) glitch in catalina

    Indesign CC 2019 running on a 15-inch, 2018 Mac, 2,6 GHz Intel Core i7 6 core, 32GB memory, with Catalina iOS 10.15.

    Every time i enter the "presentation mode", the first page i visualize looks good, when i move with the keyboard arrows to another page it visualizes glithces.

  7. When applying underline feature to TateChuYoko, the underline doesn't show

    When applying underline feature to TateChuYoko characters, the underline doesn't show. It means, the underline feature is set correctly, but it does not appear against TateChuYoko characters. We’ve struggled to this bug for a long time. As workaround, we have to create Anchor objects for TateChuYoko characters, or to put stroke lines instead of underline. These workarounds waste a lot of time. Please fix this ASAP.ASAP.

  8. Page Panel Numbering in right-to-left spreads

    In a document with facing pages, when the document is changed to right-to-left, the numbers in page panel are displayed with a weird encoding or extra characters.

  9. 2021 cannot create new document

    I just updated from 2020 to 2021 version.
    Now, when trying to create a new document, the dialogue works as expected but when clicking "erstellen" (create) nothing happens.
    Even after restarting the whole system (Mac Catalina).

  10. Media panel gone HUGE

    So, after running in a while on the new Adobe 2020 app, I noticed that the Media panel started to grow in size each time I opened the tab. Before I could notice, the Media panel was absolutely huge.

    I tried to:

    • Reset the workplace

    • Reset the UI scalling

    • Uninstall and Install again InDesign 2020 (While removing UI Preferences)

    • Restart PC

    Nothing has worked.

    The only solution that seems to work as of right now is to downgrade to 2019.

  11. [ID-4219732]Slow performance

    Lately InDesign is nearly unusable. Almost every action from selecting objects, resizing objects, or moving objects comes with a really slow reaction time. Even when clicking between panels in the toolbar there is a delay of about half a second.

    I have tried ruling out potential issues like updating graphic drivers and embedding all resources into the document. Nothing works it seems like the application is just unstable. Please advise, I love to work with indesign but this is overall a very bad user experience.

    Customer comments

    • InDesign lags when rearranging text boxes, adding image frames, adjusting frames that already exist
    • Selecting an item (e.g. text frame) in small and really uncomplicated documents has slight but very noticeable delays/lags, almost as if the click hangs and makes the item drag a little instead of just being selected.
    • Performance degradation is observed if more than 1 document is opened
    • Creating packages (File > Package) takes so much time – especially collecting image files into the Links-folder. This behavior is generally observed with Illustrator files.
    • Performance degradation is observed while working on indd document and not with the IDML of the indd document.
    • Lag observed for almost every action from selecting objects, resizing objects, or moving objects

    Troubleshooting steps tried to resolve issues

    • Disable 3rd party plugins - One of the customer has tried with Suitcase Fusion but there was no improvement in the performance.

  12. Exclude color fields in book synchronization synchronized nevertheless

    I have book files and do not want to synchronize the colors. I disable this in the synchronization options.
    The colors will still be transferred/synced to all synchronized documents.

    With InDesign 19.5 release, Swatches will always get Synchronized when Object Styles/Paragraph Styles/Character Styles are selected in the Synchronize Options dialog.

  13. [ID-4224416]PDF comments: Delete <FEFF> marker after removal of all comments

    After choosing »Delete all comments« from the fly-out menu of the PDF comments panel at every position, where a comment was before the removal, a <FEFF> char is left behind, which shows up as a zero-width colon (:), when special characters are turned on.

    Since this is a useless char after deleting the comments, the <FEFF> should also be removed, when selecting the removal in the fly-out.

    <FEFF> shows up with XML tags, notes and index markers, so we can’t simply do a TEXT search for <FEFF> to remove it.
    BTW:
    \x{feff} doesn’t work in GREP search, which is kind…

  14. Rounded corners aren't perfectly rounded

    Why aren't rounded corners perfectly rounded? I created a 100x100px square, rounded the corners to 50px which should give me a perfect circle except it doesn't.

  15. Turning on [Remove Blank Lines For Empty Fields] in Data Merge causes anomalies in the preview display

    InDesign 2022 v17.3

    Procedure
    1. Download and extract DataMerge-sample.zip.
    2. Open DataMerge-sample-Id2022.indd in InDesign v17.3.
    3. Make sure Remove Blank Lines For Empty Fields in the Content Placement Options in Data Merge panel is ON.
    4. Click Preview at the bottom of the Data Merge panel, or choose Preview from the Data Merge panel menu.
    5. Click on the navigation buttons in the preview to cycle through the data in the record.

    Expected Results
    Only the content changes. Each line retains its formatting.

    Actual Results
    If the content changes, the formatting of some lines will also change.

    SAPPHIRE Radeon PULSE RX 580 8GB GDDR5

    Photoshop CC GPU Performance - ok
    Illustrator CC GPU Performance - ok
    InDesign CC... GPU incompatible???
    In addition, there are icon discolorations (only InDesign). Sometimes this effect occurs, sometimes not. The color of discoloration can be different.

    Based on our investigation we have categorized the issue that are being reported on this thread into three types:

    1. Users having compatible GPU and monitor configuration but still not able to use GPU rendering.

    2. Users having Incompatible GPU and monitor configuration. Please refer following link that have all the details system requirement for GPU rendering.

    3. MacPro, Mac mini OR “working on MacBooks with screen down” and using Hidpi monitors with display scale factor one.
    This has been identified as bug and we have fixed it in the latest version of InDesign, Id 14.0.3

    Since , this thread is mainly being tracked only for enable-ment of GPU functionality

    Based on emails we have recieved from you all, we were able to figure out that issue was either not reproducible or that the feature was not being used correctly.

  18. Alert is shown on opening documents in InDesign(v19.4.0.63) - "This file is already open by another user or another application."

    After updating InDesign to V19.4, I'm now locked out of many of my previous design files. I'm receiving the error, "This file is already open by another user or another application. This file may be stored on a network server and cannot be opened until the other user closes it."

    I reinstalled V19.3 and can now access these old files but I would prefer to use the most up to date version if possible. happy to provide a sample if needed.

    The comments are marked on web as "Non Mapped Comments" while in Indesign they´re showed in right places!

  20. InDesign 2019 Fails to open properly and freezes.

    I recently updated to InDesign 2019 and had no problem using it last week.
    Today it is not opening properly, taking around 10 minutes to open a file, then freezes the second I try to do anything in a text box.

    It has occurred with every file I've tried, multiple times.
    I have also tried ending all InDesign processes and restarting my computer.

    Not sure if anyone else has come across this issue?

    Hello All,

    Thank you for your patience all this while.
    This issue is now fixed in the latest update (Id 14.0.1) of InDesign CC.
    If you are unable to see the update notification yet, open the menu (three dots) from the top-right of Creative Cloud desktop application and click on ‘Check For App Updates’.

    Once the update button is shown against InDesign CC, click on the button to update your InDesign to Id 14.0.1 for the fix of the issue.
    Do let us know in the comments, if you face any problem with the new update.
