Wrong font case in TOC when using character style with upper case
When generating table of contents it fetches the text and ignores paragraph styles, but character styles are left. This must be a misstake.
I want TOC to be title case and chapter headings to be upper case that is set in a paragraph style. So far so good. But I am adjusting minor words (and, at, etc) with a character style. And for those words the upper case setting also shows in TOC.

Weird replacement issue with small caps and breaks
When text is set in small caps, the German ß ligature gets replaced by ss. When that replacement then is at the end of a line and the word needs to break and wrap around, InDesign creates missing glyphs.
This is not an issue with the font and it is not a general issue, because Illustrator doesn't do it. It happens with true small caps and with fake ones.4 votes -

text turns into Symbols
When I place a document from Word into InDesign and apply a paragraph style the fonts all change to Symbol font. This has been going on for years through multiple versions of the program. Can you please fix it? Or explain how to avoid it?

Measurement Label Sizing
When using multiple monitors with different display ratios, I sometimes have a problem where the measurement labels for smart guides in InDesign become unreadably small on lower-definition monitors. At 100% zoom, the font size is equivalent to 3pts and is totally useless. I would love either options to choose interface font and appearance sizing for lower resolution monitors or the ability to change the font size of the measurement labels, otherwise I am limited to which monitors I can use Adobe CC on.

Please update to latest InDesign for resolving this issue. Thanks

Diacritic Positioning on English Fonts
We currently need to use Diacritic positioning on english fonts and in the 2025 version this isn't supported. So you could technically set the Diacritic position, but it's not showing the result on the document. However, this still works only on middle eastern fonts like Hebrew.
This worked perfectly fine in the 2020 version for english fonts as well as middle eastern fonts. After the update to the 2025 version, the Diacritic positioning support for english fonts isn't working.
We attached two pictures from the 2020 version where this is working, and the same document…

Setting maximum limit above 2000 for "Always subset fonts with glyph counts greater than:" does not work
By default, the InDesign preference General > Always subset fonts with glyph counts greater than is set to 2000 characters. However, there are many popular fonts that have many thousands of glyphs beyond that and changing this number to a higher glyph count to accommodate those fonts does not work. The fonts are still subset even if the PDF export setting is set to "Subset fonts when percent of characters used is less than 0%."
Fonts to try:
Garamond Premier Pro
Arno ProThis is a major problem for files intended for print that…

BUG (since CS6!): Nonbreaking Space (^S) Issue with World-Ready-Composer
Issue:
When using the ›World-Ready Composer‹, the character ›Nonbreaking Space‹ (^S) behaves exactly like the character ›Nonbreaking Space (Fixed Width)‹ (^s); i.e.: in justified paragraphs, its width does not adjust (like regular spaces do), but it is fixed and unchanging.
This only occurs with the ›Adobe World-Ready Composer‹ (both ›Paragraph‹ and ›Single-line‹) and not with the regular ›Adobe Composer‹ (neither ›Paragraph‹ nor ›Single-line‹).
It is not related to the font used, it has been tested with many different fonts.Versions with this bug, tested and confirmed by myself or colleagues:
InDesign (Standard Version) CS6, CC2015.0
InDesign (Middle Eastern Version)…

After typing values in dialogue boxes, InDesign list panels unusable + Mouse click outside InDesign window not working
Hi all,
I have a persistent issue with scrolling some InDesign panel lists such as swatches, font list, font weight.
After I type any set value on a dialogue box (like font size, transparency, color tone, font spacing etc), some fundamental InDesign panels become unusable: list elements (swatches, fonts etc) slip away from mouse selection like they were anchored to cursor.
Mouse click outside InDesign window to desktop or other apps also doesn't work.
Functionality can be restored only by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Canc and then Esc.I attach a sample video of the issue:

In some Hebrew fonts, part of the letter punctuation is missing or appears in the wrong place
Adobe version 17.0.1.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Copy text with punctation, (like the poem from here: https://benyehuda.org/read/30477).
2. Create in InDesign an RTL text area, and paste the text.
3. Change font to Alef Regular.
Expected results: correct location of punctation marks inside letters and above.
Actual results: missing or wrong location.

InDesign 2021 doesnt load 2020 inDesign files correctly - all the fonts and images are missing and uneditable
Every time I try to open my 2020 files in 2021, the images and font are missing from the document. the fonts are installed but for some reason text and images just are missing from the converted file.
The first attached file is a screenshot of what the document looks like in inDesign 2021. The second attachment is what the file is supposed to look like, and does in 20201 vote -
InDesign 2021 is not displaying my documents correctly
I just opened my CV created in InDesign 2020 and after the update to 2021 font styles have changed and text is partially not displayed at all. This leads to the document's layout being off and not usable.

IDML
Found a bug (in all versions of InDesign) where an IDML does not have the correct CustomGlyph string:
- Create a text box and select the font "Zapfino".
- Using the Glyphs panel, choose the character for the word "Zapfino" (which is GID 1059). Export to IDML. The IDML will open fine.
- Select the character again and change the font to Times. The character will become "uhorngrave", which is GID 1059 in the Times font.
- Export to IDML. Open the IDML and it will display as an invalid character.
The bug is because an IDML does not contain the Glyph ID…

"Unable to adjust document layout due to an error."
- Adobe InDesign CC 2019
- File >Adjust Layout > I select Custom page size; Auto-adjust margins to page size change; Options - adjust font size, adjust locked content.
- Expected result: page and all objects and fonts shrink from those I needed for a 8.5" x 11" (letter sized) doc. to 7.222" x 6" (6-column newspaper ad size) I need to produce a print-ready PDF for newspaper layout.
- Actual result: the error message "Unable to adjust document layout due to an error." (note: the preflight shows no errors, all links working, everything copacetic).
- See screen shots.

Cannot apply Paragraph/Character Styles
Indesign 19.5 and 20.0.1
Steps to resolve:
Reinstalling latest Indesign (20.0.1), restarting my iMac, reverted to a previous version of ID (19.5), copied the file to my desktop to open from there, started a fresh document and tried to create new Styles (doesn't let me), opened another document which has styles that worked (they also don't work any more), deleted preferences, and finally I have updated my iMac and that hasn't fixed it either.Expected result:
Font Styles panel should work as it should be (and as it did 3 days ago) in that you click on a Style and…2 votes -
Roboto fonts not working in indesign
I have tried everything to add Roboto fonts to creative cloud to be used in InDesign but nothing works. First, I click on the "f" in the upper right hand corner, and it just spins and spins saying loading. The next thing I tried was going to Adobe Fonts website and 'Activiating all Robot Fonts." Even though it shows as activated, Whenever I try to export my design it says following fonts (Roboto family) aren't currently available.

Tracking uppercase bug
Using some fonts (ie. MacOs system font PT SANS), when I change from lowercase to uppercase using the "Tt" function in the character panel, words appears with a wider tracking. When I change it with the menu "change to uppercase" it appears OK. I tried this also in Illustrator and it works well, so I think this is not about the font.

InDesign 19.4.0.63, two different Mac Studio M2, MacOS 13 and 12.7.4

Mongolian
Issue: InDesign does not support Mongolian vertical text direction from left-to-right.
Version: InDesign 2019, 14.0.2 x64
Steps:
1. Place or paste Mongolian text into an InDesign text frame by using the attached Word document
2. Skew the text frame 90 degrees (as done with vertical Chinese and Japanese).Expected result: Please see the attached Word document and screenshot.
Actual result: Notice that the vertical text direction is right-to-left and not left-to-right. Even if the text frame is skewed in the opposite direction (minus 90 degrees) the text is just mirrored and thus not readable.
Test files and screenshot: They are…
