1. Can't access free templates

   If you create software, and have templates that are labeled free. There should be no reason why I need a adobe stock account to access FREE TEMPLATES!!

   If it requires said license, it should say, REQUIRES ADOBE STOCK LICENCE

   If you are going to offer a product and put a paywall subscription behind it, that you can't access. What is the point of paying for a product that you can't access FREE content or basic options to try out.

   Who ever designed that, needs to re-word it.

   As you can tell, not a happy client.

3. Conditional text paste problem

   I use conditional text quite a bit… it’s a really useful feature.
   However, if you have to edit the text there is an issue (for me anyway). If you “type” new/replacement text everything is fine. But more often than not I am pasting text from a marked UP PDF or an email or Word file… when you paste, it automatically defaults to unconditional, even though what it is replacing is all a specific condition. Is that a bug? Or is it just me?

4. Wrong Swedish translation (greyscale downsampling) - very old bug!

   InDesign 15.0.1
   MacOS 10.15.2

   The word "under" marked with red should say "över" not "under".
   There should be three "över" "över" "över".
   The English version use "above" "above" "above".
   The Swedish version of Illustrator and Acrobat use "över" "över" "över".

   It's a clear mistake in the translation. No debate needed.

   I found the file below with Google. It's made in 2005 with InDesign CS. The same error can be seen at page 20.

   So it's a stupid irritating error in the Swedish translation that no-one ever bothered to fix.

5. Missing character in CentSchbook CE font in InDesign2025

   Yesterday, while working in Indesign 2025, white spaces appeared in the imported text where the letter "r" should be - one character suddenly disappeared! Even in the font set there is a white space instead (see picture). I tried this set in Word and it continues to appear there. It also appears when I try it in the old version of Indesign CS4. Not here in ID2025. However, about two days ago I was already creating documents in ID2025 with this font set and there was no problem. This is a current problem that I need to resolve immediately. Thanks for the feedback.

6. Message about pasting text with endnotes shows up one paste later

   Pasting text with endnote(s) does not show a message. You instead get that message the next time you paste an object, even if that object is not a text box containing endnote(s).

   There is also a grammar error in the message, where the word "and" should be ", which" — and there is no period at the end of the sentence.

   This has been in the last few versions of InDesign. I am using 15.0.1 now.

   Reproduce:
   - Copy text with endnote(s) to the clipboard
   - Paste text into a new thread
   - Text pastes properly; a new page is added for the endnote(s) (I am not commenting on THAT behavior)
   - No message appears
   - Copy a text box or other object(s)
   - Paste
   - Message appears: The text that you have pasted has endnotes and have been placed at the end of this story

7. Incorrect kerning on justified text

   InDesign v. 12.2.0.56

   I'm working in a book file, and this problem seems to occur at random. The kerning in the first word of a line of justified type is incorrect visually, but when you check it with the cursor, it is the correct number. If you change it, it jumps and appears to be correct again, visually, but if you save, close, and reopen the file, it is incorrect again.

   It is problematic because when a PDF is exported, the incorrect kerning is what gets exported.

   The problem has occurred in two different books I have worked on with completely different paragraph styles and settings.

   InDesign v. 12.2.0.56

8. Naming layers in the docked layers panel and naming things in paragraph styles details box

   As described in this thread :

   It's impossible to rename layers when the panel is docked
   I also have problems in naming things in some particular panels like the Paragraph styles details box when i want to create a nested style and type the exact word i want the style to stop
   (see screen capture) i manage to click it but it's like magic clic and clic and clic... sometimes work sometimes not... i'm getting crazy with it and loos a lot of time.

9. PNGs will often export at low resolution unless "high quality display" is selected

   I have a graphic which includes a cropped part of a PDF which is a CAD drawing. I select it all, export to a PNG at 600dpi. Put it into Word and when I zoom in it's fairly pixelated: definitely not 600dpi.

   If I select the placed PDF, turn the display performance to "High Quality Display" and re-export, it's a beautiful 600dpi file. This screams "bug" to me.

   I'll add this to another bug report of mine, which is that if a link is modified or missing, you won't get a warning when exporting a PNG that uses it (you just get the lo-res preview in your graphic).

10. Crop tool namings for german version are irritating

    A view months ago I was posting this issue to the community board already. :-) Thanks to Mr. Tyson for directing me to this page here:

    The assistance describes the differences between the three boxes named "crop", "trim" and "bleed".

    Well, in English there is no mistake if I'm going to import a PDF into my InDesign document, e.g. I'd like to display the final cutted format, than I choose for "Trim" or if I need to prepare a page for professional print shops than choosing "Bleed".

    But in the german edition the namings seem to be inconsequent. In comparison with the Acrobat Crop Tools and the InDesign Import Options
    "T r i m" should be the counterpart to "E n d f o r m a t" or "Z u s c h n i t t"
    while "A n s c h n i t t" seems to be the correct interpretation of "B l e e d".
    Accordingly, "C r o p" would be referred to the german word "B e s c h n i t t ".

    The best woud be, if you replace the german wording of the InDesign "import options" as seen on the following screenshot.

    And for example: an imported PDF with varius import options.

11. Adobe InDesign 2024 and 2025 crash when pasting certain string into text box with particular font

    Hi, I’m a type designer and font delveloper (for more than 20 years) and have made a custom font (Latin) that makes extensive use of the Contextual Alternates feature (calt). Let's call the font FontXyz, it’s an OpenType CFF font (.otf).

    These are the steps that always cause InDesign to crash
    1: Text cursor is in an empty text box where my FontXyz is already set
    2: Pasting the string “1234,-”
    3: Crash

    I can prevent the crash by:
    a: Putting my cursor in between two spaces and then pasting the string “1234,-”
    b: Pasting the string without the “-”, thus pasting “1234,”

    The font has passed various validation tests (Fontbakery (even the “check-adobefonts” one), FontGoggles, Font Validator) and works without any issues in other MacOS apps (such as Microsoft Word, Pages, Figma and browsers).

    The crash occurs in Adobe CC InDesign 2024 and 2025
    I'm running MacOS 15.5

12. Paste without formatting option disappeared, CTRL+Shift+V not working

    There was previously an option to Paste with Formatting and Paste Without Formatting, and after recent updates, the options have disappeared and paste functioning is working incorrectly. I used both of these functions for various reasons, and would greatly appreciate it coming back! I could use CTRL+Shift+V to paste without formatting, or, if I clicked into a text box and right clicked, there were for options: Cut | Copy | Paste | Paste Without Formatting. Now, only the first three appear as options and I've lost the fourth function. There are times when I WANT to paste with formatting, though mostly I paste without formatting. Now, I don't see a Right-Click menu option for "paste without formatting" and even using CTRL+Shift+V is not working. Now, the default paste seems to be "without formatting" except even then, it's pasting with the incorrect formatting - not retaining the original settings from Word, nor adopting the settings I'm pasting into. This is a significant in-efficiency as I'm having to redo paragraph styles for all paragraphs, instead of it overlaying the text I want to replace and maintaining the InDesign paragraph styles I had with the previous text.

    I'm in v17.2.1; recently upgraded to Windows 11 also.

13. Bugs with Whitespaces in Justification’s Composer when work with Thai language and other issues

    As my report on bug with text wrapping in 2020 version (https://indesign.uservoice.com/forums/601180-adobe-indesign-bugs/suggestions/38998636-bug-with-world-ready-composer-when-use-space-like). Many of issues were fixed, but some still remain.

    Before going to the issue in the title of the post, I want to specify some issue that doesn’t fix form my last report. If you see on the attachment img 02, you will see the issue about text encoding (it just only my suspicion) that happen when you just copy and paste text (specifically in Thai) form 2020 version to 2019 or to another text editor. After I had pasted text into TextEdit (you can find “Copy And Paste Text form Selection Text.txt” in attachment) almost vowels and tone marks were changed into quotation marks that which made me suspicious about text encoding in that language.

    I do not know that this issue has a relative to the issue in question. The white spaces. As you can see in “img 01” in attachment (and on Indesign file which was also attached) on the text where I high-lighted.

    First, you can see white space play as a character in the beginning of the line, like other white spaces such as thin-space. And you also see, when applied paragraph with Adobe World Ready Composer, either single line and paragraph, spaces other than whitespace that insert form space bar play as character on the end of the line when you apply text justify. In an example I shown to you, en-space did not collapse. It stilled as a character.

    Other than that, you can see the close parenthesis was sole wrapped into the next line, even it should stayed with the last word.

    Nearly half year, after you had claimed that Indesign support Thai, I still cloud’t update into 2020 version because of all these fatal issues.

14. Character Style / redefine not working as expected

    When changing the font/color/style of a word which has a Character Style applied, the user expects a + to appear and a 'Redefine Style' context menu entry when right clicking the Character Style, just like when changing the appearance of text with a Paragraph Style applied.

    This does not always happen with Character Styles. If found that it does not work, when a Character Style is initially defined by first styling a selected text, and then added as a Character Style, with the + button in the Character Styles palet. In that case, the workflow mentioned does not work.

    Please repair this / make both coherent. Currently, Character Styles are kind of broken.

15. Pasting forced line breaks instead of end paragraphs (InDesign)

    When pasting data from Excel, each row comes in with a Forced Line Break marker at the end, instead of an End Paragraph marker. This is a recent change within Indesign, as you used to be able to paste from excel into a table in Indesign, maintaining the proper rows and columns. Now when you paste in the same information, it doesn't recognize the end paragraph, and tries to put all the data in one row.

    The same issue has been found when pasting text from Microsoft Word into Indesign - instead of End Paragraph markers, you get forced line breaks. This is a nightmare when trying to manage intricate text and utilize various style features.

16. Wrong hyperlink position when using index entry fields in imported document

    Version of Adobe InDesign, InCopy or InDesign Server
    InDesign 17.4.2 / 18.3 (identical behaviour)

    Steps to reproduce the issues

    Create a Word document in .docx file format, add some text and some index entry fields, then a hyperlink at the end
    Save file and place in InDesign

    Expected result
    Document is imported and hyperlinks remain in the same place

    Actual result
    Document is imported and hyperlinks are shifted backwards by 1 character for each index entry field.

    The error occurs regardless if you place the document into an existing text frame or create a new text frame by placing the document.

    This renders existing hyperlinks in a document completely out of place and unusable, especially for later EPUB exports.

    Version of Adobe InDesign, InCopy or InDesign Server
    InDesign 17.4.2 / 18.3 (identical behaviour)

17. Paragraph styles removed when importing docx files while doc files retain styles correctly.

    Using the latest InDesign 2022 (17.2.1) for Mac (The Middle Eastern version--the one that shows English and Hebrew), both on an M1 Mac mini and a late 2015 iMac running Big Sur.

    Import a docx Microsoft Word file into an InDesign file (tried with blank new document as well as one of our templates) with the import settings set to bring in all styles.

    The file is imported but the import has stripped all styles from the document.

    Resave the docx file as a doc file.

    Import new file into ID, which results in all styles being visible as is expected.
    It is my understanding that a restart may also help, but is required each time.

    I can submit a file as needed.

    Using the latest InDesign 2022 (17.2.1) for Mac (The Middle Eastern version--the one that shows English and Hebrew), both on an M1 Mac mini and a late 2015 iMac running Big Sur.

    Import a docx Microsoft Word file into an InDesign file (tried with blank new document as well as one of our templates) with the import settings set to bring in all styles.

    The file is imported but the import has stripped all styles from the document.

    Resave the docx file as a doc file.

    Import new file into ID, which results in all styles being visible as is… more

18. [ID-4257194]page numbers on documents don't match page numbers in book window or pages pane

    Ever since InDesign updated from version 19.5 to version 20, the current page number marker on my master pages will not sync. Now, every document in my book just starts from page 1. So, in other words, every chapter starts over at page 1. Please help. I've included a screen grab of my problem. You'll see that the page numbers on the actual document don't match the page numbers indicated in the pages window or in the book window. I've redone the marker in the master pages and resynced, but no dice...

    To resolve this issue, please click on the 'Update page and section numbers' option (present in the book panel's hamburger menu) after opening any book(created in any previous version) for the first time in 20.0

19. Span columns not working properly (16.4)

    InDesign 16.4 on Windows.

    I have an issue with spanned text.
    It looks like a "break column" special character is created above and below the text when I span it across a 2 column frame. Or a text column is "skipped."
    This is happening on flowing text, on primary text frames. The text was initially imported from a Word document (without styling).

    This "bug" doesn't happens on on other text frames where the text was not imported.

    I am trying to upload the INDD packaged rar file but the platform is saying that that type of file is not supported... Kindly text the screenshot.
    You will see some empty columns above and below the spanned text that should be filled with text.

20. Issues in rendering some Assamese conjuncts

    The Assamese 'reph' and 'rakaar' are not properly rendered while using the Assamese font "Banikanta", a font released by Govt. of Assam in India. The font can be downloaded from http://www.publicationboardassam.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Banikanta.zip

    The font works well in all the other tools and platforms including MS-Word, Libre office etc.

    Being associated with the development of this font, I have seen that the issue is seen due to the problem of the improper rendering of Adobe InDesign. In this font we have skipped the mapping of Bengali "Ra" (U+09B0) to construct the 'reph' and 'rakaar" as it is not used in Assamese and instead used the Assamese "Ra"(U+09F0). But even when Assamese “Ra” is typed to form the “reph” or “rakaar”, Indesign converts it to Bengali ‘Ra” and since we have not mapped the Bengali “Ra” to “Reph” and “Rakaar”, it doesn’t not display in the desired form.
    
    Moreover, there is another problem. When U+09AF BENGALI LETTER YA (antaḥstha za) occurs as the last member of a consonant cluster it has a special shape called ya-phalā. But in Assamese ya-phalā shape should occur only when U+09DF (Yya) occurs as the last member of a consonant cluster. The font has this provision, but Adobe InDesign fails to render it correctly.

    The problem can be reproduced in Adobe InDesign CS6 (Version 8.0)
