Paragraph style outline cuts through text
After reopening chapters I sometimes find the outline of a paragraph going through the text instead of below it. I can't relyably reproduce it, but it has happened several times.

Text wrap on anchored frame causes InDesign to freeze
- InDesign CC 2018 13.1 on macOS 10.13.6
- When placing an object in a text frame, thus creating an anchored object, and then applying to the latter a text wrap method that is different from default (none), either via application ui, script or object style;
- Expected to apply the wanted text wrap option;
- Application freezes.

We’ve concluded our investigation and came up with the finding : Either the issue is fixed in the latest release of InDesign or the issue was intermittent in nature at the time of its reporting and is not reproducible now.
We recommend you to upgrade to the latest version of InDesign 2020.0.1 (if you’re not already on it). It contains a lot of stability fixes.

Impossible to copy text from InDesign 2021 to other applications
It is impossible to copy any text from InDesign 2021 to other applications as Notepad or Excel.
When copying any text in InDesign, the Windows clipboard becomes empty even if there was anything.
However, it is possible to paste into InDesign any text from InDesign and any other text from outside of InDesign.
Resetting settings using Ctrl-Shift-Del at InDesign start and changing settings “Copy/paste in PDF format” didn’t help.1 vote -
InDesign 2024 regression: Text variable rendering breaks Google barcode font
A sequence of numbers rendered in Google's "Libre Barcode EAN13 Text" font will not work if the text is inserted via a text variable. Entering the text verbatim with the same paragraph style produces the expected result.
This is a regression in InDesign 2024. The attached IDML file works fine in InDesign 2023 v18.5 but not in InDesign 2024 v19.3.0.58.
The font can be found at https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Libre+Barcode+EAN13+Text.

linking text blocks error
I created several related blocks on a master page. The blocks don't auto-continue; they're not master blocks. I then initialize them and filled them with text. Then I group them with other elements. Then I no longer needed them, so I tried deleting the blocks. But InDesign wouldn't allow it, as it thought I needed to add pages. I deleted the entire contents of the text blocks. But InDesign still tried to add the page, even though there was no content in the blocks. The last block in the chain link always had a continuation icon, but in reality…

find/change formatted text error
using cc2021
when trying find/change text with sencences with paragraph style (bold), some characters become regular.

Error when exporting to Rich Text Format (*.rtf)
Adobe InDesign 17.0.1 x64
When exporting a Story's text to Rich Text Format (*.rtf), if there are Endnotes in this Story, the notes will not be exported.
To export notes you need to convert Endnotes to Footnotes, however there is also an error when converting Endnotes to Footnotes.
When converting Endnotes to Footnotes all text attributes (bold, italic, etc) that exist in the notes will be lost.
If the attribute is placed in the note via a character style, for example a character style that only puts italics, the italic will be preserved but as text exported to .rtf will…1 vote -
Recent File menu text garbled
When opening InDesign and seeing the Recent File menu filter screen before opening a document, the text is garbled, almost as if it's layered over previous versions of the same file. See screengrab attached.

InDesign 18.3 Bugs related to Outlining JPtext
When outlining JPtext, the following problems occur
(1) JPcharacters to which lines are added are greatly deformed.
(1-1 Before outlining) (1-2 After outlining)(2) The processing added by the effect disappears from the outlined text.

Weight remains on text when exported to pdf even if changed to zero.
I am using InDesign CC 2019 14.01 x64.
Once a stroke weight has been added, if you then change the stroke weight back to zero, then when you export to pdf the pdf will have a stroke weight added to the text, even though the indesign document looks correct. It may not have the original amount of weight that was added, but it will definitely have what looks to be around a .2 weight added.
However, if you were to start a new document, then add stroke weight, then click edit - undo stroke weight, then it would export…

Indd-generated QR code disappears in Print-PDF
When exporting a print pdf, a qr code that has been generated within inDesign does not appear in the pdf. There is not even an empty box. It seems the pdf export is somehow inaccurate when it comes to qr codes that have been generated in Indd.

Mouse lag when linking box and then drawing a new text box on a page
I have a box of text, i click the link button on the bottom right of the test box to make a new box, the mouse is them slow and laggy while it is loaded up with text i then draw a new text box, the mouse then returns to normal speed.

Object Menu, Arrange for Text blocks not working
InDesign version 21.0.2 x64
I have used Adobe InDesign since 1997 (first introduced to me at school while I was learning Quark), more full-time since 2002 (worked at a newspaper). I have always been able to use the Object menu to either move objects in front of or in back of others. This still seems to work in 2025 with actual objects, i.e., rectangles, ovals, etc. It no longer works as of today with text blocks. In my remote conversation with Manoj, the only workaround is to either type my text into a color block and reposition it, or perhaps…

Find/Replace: Doesn't find the text size format after a transformation
InDesign 17.2 Win10 x64
- Type text with size 7pt
- Transform the text frame to 80%
- Textsize is now 5,6 pt
- Try to find the Text with find/replace and "find format" - size 5,6 pt - it doesn't work
But it works with a text size of 8 pt (transform to 6,4pt)

copy
Allow normal use of copy and paste with system-wide shortcuts from PDF comments. Most of the time I try to copy text from a PDF comment to paste into a document, the selection disappears and no "copy" option appears. I need to be able to copy and paste text from comments as easily as any other text. This issue is seen in 17.2.1 on an M1 iMac running Monterey 12.3.1.

Alt-text and field descriptions/tooltips do not export correctly
When updating Alt-text on images or the form field descriptions in InDesign 2025 20.0.1 on Mac and exporting to PDF, the Alt-text/descriptions do not reflect the updated text. This requires manual updating of every single image or form field in the PDF or saving as IDML, opening in 2024 and exporting.
