1. Text Form Fields do not export with inDesign CC 2018 14.0

   Form Fields do not export at all in the PDF when exported in the current version of inDesign. I am using the same exact settings as I did before I updated, and links DO work. Form fields just do not appear.

   To recreate:
   1) Make boxes where fields are required (in this case, on its own layer, which is visible and active)
   2) Using the Buttons and Forms panel, convert them to text boxes
   3) Export to PDF, making sure that the boxes for exporting interactive elements are checked, and the dropdown says to include appearance

   Resulting PDF does not have text fields.

   It looks like you are exporting to a Print PDF.
   For the Form Fields to work, you should choose Adobe PDF (Interactive) Format instead.

2. Anchored textframe with auto-sizing/auto-adjusting "height" causes InDesign 2020 to freeze

   Anchored textframe with auto-sizing/auto-adjusting "height", text aligned to baseline and anchored object settings "anchored position: custom", "anchorPoint: bottom left/center/right" causes InDesign 2020 (15.0.1) to freeze (on Mac and PC).

   1. create an new document (size doesn't matter)
   2. create an new textframe (dimensions doesn't matter)
   3. create a second textframe (dimensions doesn't matter)
   4. insert some text in second generated textframe
   5. select the text and apply the option "align to baseline".
   6. anchor second textframe into the first created textframe
   7. set anchored object settings of the anchored textframe to: "anchored position: custom" and "anchorPoint: bottom left or bottom center or bottom right"

   8. select the anchored textframe

   9. choose the textframe fit option "frame to content" or use the shortcut "strg + alt + c" on PC

3. ACTIVETED FONTS I work in file with the text on Gotham HTF

   ACTIVETED FONTS I work in file with the text on Gotham HTF. Book Font (original Apple) is my program for active/disactive fonts. On window (InDesign) Find Font I see that the Gotham HTF Bold is present 2 time, also Gotham HTF Book and Gotham HTF Blasck. But this problem is present only for Gotham, NO for Helvetica Neue Ltd std or ;inion or other fonts.

   Can someone tell me WHY? ... and escuse my badbad english I'm Italian ;)

4. ID 17 English LTR document with any RTL text exports as RTL epub

   I edited this to remove the urgent notice. The publisher does not want to publish this book as an epub.

   The basic problem remains, however.

   When exporting an epub 3.0 from an academic book written in English with some RTL text sections, typically tables with Hebrew and English text, the epub exports in reverse order. That is, the title page is at the end of the epub, and the last page of the text is the first in the epub. So far it seems that the presence of any RTL elements, even a single character, causes the epub to export as if it were an RTL book.

   17.2.1, 17.1 and 17.0.1 all export the same way.

   The reflowable epub export General tab has the Content -> Order set to "Based on Page Layout". That is the only option available.

   To reproduce, export to reflowable epub a book with a few RTL elements. I created a 50 page 6×9 in. lorem ipsum ID document with three Hebrew words in the first sentence; exporting the file as a reflowable epub results in the first page at the end of the file. Even a single RTL character is sufficient to export with the first page at the end of the epub.

   I cannot attach my .indd test file; it should be be easy enough to create one.

   The attached screen snap shows that the epub page ordering is from right to left.

   I edited this to remove the urgent notice. The publisher does not want to publish this book as an epub.

5. Crash when continuing to place text from Word

   Hello.

   When I try to continue to place text from any Word document Indesign crashes. It actually won't crash by "itself", it just stops working.

   I have followed the steps you outlined here: https://helpx.adobe.com/uk/indesign/kb/submit-crash-reports.html#Howtosubmitcrashreports

   to submit a crash report. However, since I have to Force quit it I cannot get the report crash dialogue.

   MacOSX version: 10.14.6
   Indesign version: Any from 14.0.3 to 15.1.2

   We’ve concluded our investigation and came up with the finding: Either the issue is fixed in the latest release of InDesign or the issue was intermittent in nature at the time of its reporting and is not reproducible now.

   We recommend you upgrade to the latest version of InDesign 2023(v18.2.1.455) as it is more robust and contains a lot of bug fixes.

6. Keyboard commands do not respond in document until text field is selected

   Indesign 14.0.2 x64
   Windows 10

   After opening any document, the keyboard does not work. Print, open, and quick key selections for tool will not register until I select the ​type tool with the mouse, and click on a text field so that the cursor appears.

   I then have to click on the selection black arrow tool for any keys to start working. I use mainly quick key shortcuts and commands all day, so this occurs every new document opened.

   Could you please try clearing up(or renaming) your preferences and cache for InDesign 2019(14.0).

7. publish online navigation buttons disappear in browsers and don't come back

   When I view a published document, the browser based navigation buttons and menu for downloading disappear after a couple seconds and don't come back without hitting F5. This is unworkable. Please change it so the nav arrows remain on the screen, even in full screen mode. I can't have my clients struggling to go to the next page. This happens in Chrome and Firefox. In Edge, they disappear, but will reappear if I move my mouse to the edge of the screen - also very frustrating because I just want to click through the document without struggling to find the arrows. This is a browser issue, NOT a document issue - this happens with ALL documents.

8. Text with missing fonts are invisible in InDesign 16.1 macOS Catalina

   Missing fonts in a document were usually showed with a replaced standard font and a light red highlight, so it pops you in the eye directly.
   In the new InDesign 16.1 on macOS Catalina 10.15.7 this feature is suddendly missing for me. The text with the missing font is completely invisible. Just an empty textbox. Just when you klick in it or open the preflight window, there you can see the errors.

   Did I miss some new settings? Sometimes you just want to quickly edit the text and generate the final pdf later. Would be great if can enable this feature again.

9. Table headers disappear when pasting

   Several times now I've cut & pasted a table from one part of my document to another only to find the headers disappear. Inserting a row makes the headers reappear.

   I'm usig 12.1.0.56 x64 build.

   Please update InDesign to the latest version, InDesign CC 2018 (13.0) for the fix of the issue.

10. Exported interactive PDF does not honour reading order.

    1 – InDesign 2020 15.0
    2 – Have standard copy with headings and body copy with PDF export tags applied (H1, H2, P etc). Add images between sections of text. Drag elements into the Articles panel in the correct reading order and tick 'Use for Reading Order in Tagged PDF.
    3 – Images should be in the right order
    4 – Images are not in the right order. All figures are in a <Art> tag. This was not an issue in InDesign 2019.
    5 – Order should be first block of text, image (1) and then second block of text with an anchored image (2). Result (in second screenshot) is first block of text, second block of text and the anchored image, THEN image 1.

    Fix for this issue is now available in the latest update of InDesign 2020 – that is, InDesign 15.0.1

    In the Creative Cloud Desktop application, click on the Updates section on the left. You should be able to see the Update available for InDesign. Please update your InDesign application to this version to try out the fix.

11. BUG - Text boxes unresponsive after accepting a Comment - it's infuriating PLEASE FIX THIS

    This has been going on for years, and I'm seriously at risk of smashing the Mac over this, IT'S DRIVING ME MAD!!

    1 - Every version since Commenting started
    2 - accept a comment and then try to type in the text box where the comment was placed
    3 - to type as normal and respond as expected
    4 - nothing. It is completely unresponsive, until you click in and out of the text box multiple times to clear whatever is stopping it from being able to type. I don't have time for this shiiiiiiii GAH!
    5 - recording of a typical annoying bug - I am trying to type, but you have to go in and out of the text box multiple times, before it works

    FIX THIS BUG THAT IS YEARS OLD

12. When switching from normal to preview, the type on a book page reflows and some type disappears.

    InDesign 2020: During work I often switch between normal and preview. Working on a long book, type has been disappearing on the Preview Page when I switch to that view from "normal". I quit InDesign, re-start, and things go ok for a while.

13. Grep expressions with ~F in a character class fail in endnotes

    The inclusion of ~F in a character class invalidates grep expressions in endnotes.

    InDesign version: 14.0.2.324 (with the GREP fix installed)

    Steps to reproduce:

    1. Open the attached document. It contains a single page with text and an endnote.
    2. In the GREP tab of the Find/What window, enter the following GREP expression:

    \d[^.,;~F]+

    And target the document. The expression matches from a digit up to the next period, comma, semicolon, or footnote marker.

    Expected result: The expression should match some text in the main text and in the endnote.
    Actual Result: The expression does not match anything in the endnote.

    To show that it's ~F that's the problem, use this expression:

    \d[^.,;]+

    It matches in the main text and in the footnote, as expected.

    The inclusion of ~F in a character class invalidates grep expressions in endnotes.

14. conditional text leaves a bullet with blank line when using a bullet list

    Indesign v16

    We use conditional text and have noticed that using bullets with this would leave a lone bullet when swtiching the conditional text off. There's a work around to and a line break and switch the bullets off which allows the condition to work as expected.

    Would expect bullets to work with conditional text without the need for an extra line, this is flagging as overset text in some cases as well.

    To reproduce the issue:

    Set a few lines of text to bullet style
    apply conditional text to the lines
    Switch view of conditional text off
    You're left with a solo bullet with no text

    Would expect there to be no bullet at all

15. Recent files panel is unreadable

    InDesign Version: 16.1

    Steps to reproduce the issues: Open InDesign

    Expected result: Text of recent files would be readable and not stacking text on top of itself

    Actual result: Text stacks on itself and is completely unreadable.

16. Wonky text on the Home Screen in InDesign OS Ventura

    This has been appearing since I updated to a new Mac Studio and InDesign 18.5 on OS Ventura. The text goes all weird on the Home Screen. I can't read what the document title is. There's been instances where the same file name appears twice also. It's annoying!

17. Paragraph shading not aligned in justified text when optical alignment is on

    If optical margin alignment (story) is ON the paragraph shading doesn't align on the right margin of justified text. hyphens seem to push the edge of the shading out. This is in build 13.1.1 but is also reported in 15.0.0.155. I cannot update to the newest version without buying a new computer—so I won't be anytime soon or maybe ever.     ID hangs up when trying to let InDesign create about 100 additional pages with auto flow on the primary text frame from a placed docx. Can't attach the file due to my customer's copyright policy.

    As per the customer, the issue is no longer reproducible.

19. File Info > Raw Data panel doesn't allow to select text and search

    The File Info > Raw Data panel stopped working as expected:

    -The search field doesn't work
    -It's impossible to even select text in the panel

    I'm pretty sure it worked earlier - so something probably got broken recently.

    InDesign 16.1, macOS 11.2

20. Selection Tool cursor disappear issue

    Reposting this issue from Beta Version as it has not been resolved
    I am using Indesign Prelease 16.3
    Cursor disappears after period of inactivity.
    Cursor will appear if hovering over an object, otherwise invisible.
    A restart will resolve this which is not ideal
