1. Freeze after using default New Hyperlink to URL

   (I didn't see a category for Freeze. I figure Crash is pretty close.)

   In InDesign 15.0.3 on Windows 10:

   I had just finished inserting a hyperlink by selecting Chess.com, bringing up the New Hyperlink panel (with the 'To URL' option up), and pressing Enter.
   After waiting 15 minutes, it was still hung.
   It was the only app running.
   When I right-clicked on the InDesign icon on the taskbar and clicked 'Close window', a dialog box popped up saying, "Save changes to the Adobe InDesign document "16 - Glossary.indd" before closing?
   I clicked 'Yes'.
   It closed that dialog box and popped up with an alert saying, "Cannot save "16 - Glossary.indd".
   Repeated twice. Same results.
   Then I clicked 'No'.
   It closed out the document, then the "Save changes box popped up again."
   When I clicked 'Yes' there, InDesign closed down.

   When I launched InDesign again, it pretended it had loaded my standard workspace ("David's"), but hadn't. It didn't load it until I chose Windows > Workspace > Reset David's.

   The problem did not reproduce.

   (I didn't see a category for Freeze. I figure Crash is pretty close.)

   In InDesign 15.0.3 on Windows 10:

   We’ve concluded our investigation and came up with the finding: Either the issue is fixed in the latest release of InDesign or the issue was intermittent in nature at the time of its reporting and is not reproducible now.

   We recommend you to upgrade to the latest version of InDesign 2021(v16.0.0.77) as it is more robust and contains a lot of bug fixes.

2. excel import filter fails formatting

   When importing an Excel spreadsheet, formatted cells are incorrectly imported.

   E.g., place the following one-cell spreadsheet in CC 2018 (not tested in earlier, but I imagine it's true there), and you'll see either "10,000,000,000,000.0." in the cell (under macOS) or "1,000.0" (under Windows).

   Needless to say, this is a critical bug for people using Excel with InDesign, since it causes serious mis-representations of imported numbers.

3. Text formatting is lost when copy/pasting a text box to another document.

   When Copying a text box from one document to another, the formatting is lost and is highlighted red (indicating missing font?). The font changes to from Arial to Helvetica as substitution.
   Both documents are updated to the current file format.
   The box copies and pastes as a basic text frame.

   I'm able to reformat everything to match the other document, but I don't know why it's losing the formatting.
   I'm using Windows 10 Pro version 1909.

4. Save functions unavailable

   I'm using a Mac and running Catalina, have ID 2020. Yesterday, an existing file of 33 pages stopped allowing me to save it. I had no idea it wasn't saving and lost hours worth of work by the time I realized what was happening. I tried starting a new document and pasting the text into it, but same problem. I started a new document again and it allowed me to save immediately, but the second I dropped in text (different text this time), I lost the ability to save the file. I can export to PDF or IDML, but cannot simply save the file.

5. Missing Objects in Word pdf printing

   The file prints the banner and logo okay in pdf. But when I place them in Indesign 14.0.3 x64, and print them from there, two objects disappear. I'm also using Windows 7 7601 and latest Suitcase Fusion.

   It seems to happen with pdf files that are exported from Word from my clients.

6. Page Size Changes- Sometimes don't work, sometimes bug, InDesign is as confused as I am.

   I'm using InDesign 2021. I have been using the option at the bottom the Pages window ("edit page size") to change the size of my document from US Letter to A4 as I offer both sizes of printables in my shop. I noticed tonight that this sizing is being buggy. I went to change my Letter size doc to an A4 size, but A4 was already checked. The rulers confirmed my doc was in Letter. I then tried to change it, but no selections held from that menu. Finally, I just went to the "adjust layout" menu option and changed it that way.

   Is this an InDesign bug, or some kind of user error? All my pages are consistent with one single master.

7. Updated to 2020, now fonts are not working

   Okay, so apparently I have run into an issue, that many have experienced before me. After an update of InDesign, fonts are not working, although installed. And browsing through the forum, no solutions seems available even though this is months old problems. Yes, there are some work-arounds, which I tried out with on luck.

   Attached are screens:

   001: My current InDesign version.
   002: My current InDesign version according to Create Cloud Desktop.
   003: My computer specs.
   004: My Windows specs.
   005: Example of the lastest pdf version of one of the InDesign files, where fonts are not working. Here the font ("Roboto") is shown correctly.
   006: But when I open the file in InDesign, it does not recognise the fonts.
   007: And yes, the fonts are installed in the Windows/Fonts folder, as this screen shot show.

   Any help out there?

8. Page tool doesn't allow me to align Pages in Spread.

   When i Disallow Document Pages to Shuffle and Mix 3 Pages in One Spread, lets say as an Example i Want to make a cover, the Page tool doesn't let me align the pages if i need it to, please see the video.

9. Selecting 'Save as' from drop-down – nothing happens

   Using InDesign 16.0.2, opened a local .indd file, made an iterative change and selected 'Save As' to create a derivative file. Nothing happened, no save dialog box at all. I quit InDesign and relaunched, and that seemed to clear the problem. This has happened at least once before in the last month. Though that might have been in the previous build before the most recent InDesign update (18days ago). The app wasn't frozen or inactive in other ways, it just wouldn't let me 'Save as' until I relaunched the app. So no crash report to send on. I use the app daily and this hasn't been a repetitive error, but very odd behaviour none the less.

10. Opening older INDB files breaks Automatic Page Numbering

    I often have to prepare materials for reprints, and our book files are set up as multiple chapter INDDs within an INDB.

    Starting with Version 20.0, opening an INDB from a previous version of InDesign maintains the correct pagination in the Book window, but opening the INDD files through the INDB shows the page numbers have reset their numbering to 1 with each chapter. Preflight does not flag this issue, and the numbers are not recalculated by default in preparation for exporting. Instead, Update All Numbers must be manually run on the book, after which the counts are again correct. This means also having to manually sit there and hit save on every indd as it updates as well - annoying as some of our books have over 60 chapters.

11. None of my windows float in when I open Indesign version 15.1.1

    The app is running, but none of my windows float in when I open my file.
    I can't access any of my tools, pages, or layers... This is the only thing I'm able to see which is only my document. But I can't work without the tools! How can I fix this issue? I already tried restarting my computer, uninstalling and re-installing Indesign 15.1.1 and nothing has worked.

12. Random Crashing of InDesign after sitting idle for long periods of time

    InDesign 2020 .1 and following has crashed on my computer a number of times after sitting idle fora long time. I've sent in the crash reports on most of the occurrences of this.

    The second thing that isn't working right is that hide application isn't working right on my mac which is operating using Catalina with a late 2012 iMac 27" with 24 gb of ram. The window just goes inactive but hides the desktop and is in full opaque view.

    and 3. When I open a file that has been made using a customized workspace, the app uses the default essentials work space. I select my customized work space but it always says Essentials in the work space list even when my customized workspace is being utilized.

13. Disabling UI scaling for high PPI displays causes truncated descriptions in "Preferences"

    Installed InDesign CC 2018; when disabling UI scaling for high PPI displays, and restarting.

    When "Preferences" are launched, all options turn up with their descriptions truncated, and replaced with an ellipsis.

    Two images are attached, when UI Scaling is disabled vs enabled.

    This is happening on MS Surface Pro 3, Windows 8.1, screen resolution 2160 x 1440 px (max supported by Surface Pro) and all resolutions below.

14. Images re-imported and resized in Windows lose scale settings when opened on Mac

    Version of Adobe InDesign CC: 12.1.0.56

    Steps to reproduce the issues:
    Import document from Word as source into MacOS version.
    2. Open file on Windows computer, re-import one of the images via the Links box and resize to match previous settings (e.g., 91.4%)
    3. Save.
    4. Open again in Mac, and the updated images have lost their sizing and blow outside of the Frame..
    Expected result:
    Image sizing should be retained across platforms.

15. After pressing "Cancel" in "Relink..." dialog, the item is no longer selected in the Links panel

    1. InDesign 13.1 x64, WIndows 10
    2. Select an image on the page, and it is highlighted in the links panel. Press "Relink...". Press "Cancel".
    3. The link should be highlighted in the links palette so I could press "Relink..." again immediately
    4. The frame is still selected but the image is no longer highlighted in the Links panel. You have to deselect the frame and re-select it (or manually click the link in the panel) to highlight it again.

16. group size error when turning page

Copy your group and the individual rectangle from the old page and place it on the flipped one. Now enter new dimensions, for example 100 by 10 mm for the group and for the rectangle. The individual rectangle will get the correct dimensions, taking into account the fact that the page is rotated 90 degrees. However, the group will have an error - the vertical dimensions will become the horizontal dimensions and vice versa. 17. Mac OS. The floating windows for Text Wrap, Paragraph, etc. go blank over time.

    Mac OS 14.3.1. InDesign 19.3. The floating windows for Text Wrap, Paragraph, and possibly others go blank over time. The only way to fix it is to quit, and relaunch while deleting preferences. Then preferences have to be redone. This has been happening for several years, over several operating systems, many InDesign versions, and at least two different iMacs.

18. Smart Grid feature not working properly. Green lines don't appear showing alignment with object's previous location

    As the title says, when I move an object, the temporary green smart grid lines do not appear to show whether I am in alignment with the object's previous position. I noticed this when I was trying to replicate the 3rd video titled "Align and group content" in the "Edit Content" tutorial.

19. Vector Objects changing size when page layout is duplicated

    While using InDesign v17 I've encountered a bug where some small rectangular vector objects will get larger when a page is duplicated using the "Create Alternate Layout" feature in the "Pages" tab. This has also occurred when a page or layout is dragged and dropped to the "Create New Page" icon to create a duplicate in the "Pages" tab. Design elements should not change when a layout is duplicated, and this did not happen in previous versions.

    This first appeared in an .idml file that was created in 2019, and carries over to new files based on that .idml. It does not seem to occur with .idml files made in 2020 or 2021

20. Unable to package some InDesign files, error message appears

    Adobe InDesign CC 2017.1 release, 12.1.0.56 x64 build for Windows
    Open an .indd file, press File menu and select package menu item.
    Expected result: the file (catalog) is packaged.
    Actual result: the file (catalog) is NOT packaged. An error occurs about missing plugins: STEP-N-DESIGN.LOGIC.WIN.CC10.PLN EXTENSISFONTMANAGEMENTIDCC2014X64.APLN. (see attachment).
    Additional information: this problem occurs only by some files, not by all of them.
