  1. InDesign windows do not allow resizing from top to bottom

    InDesign windows do not allow resizing from top to bottom. Typically, the mouse pointer should change to a drag icon to indicate this functionality, but this does not happen with InDesign, while it works normally with other applications.

  3. layout moves when dragging pictures from windows explorer

    When I have a grid of empty frames that I wish to populate with images that I am dragging from windows explorer, as I fill them the view of the layout shifts meaning I have to keep adjusting my view as items move outside the view. Everything is visible at the start so this auto view shift is really unhelpful and considering the volume of work this affects it would be a real time saver if it didn't happen.

  4. Scripting Windows: Add page item after add swatch will delete added swatch

    In ExtendScript on Windows only, adding any InDesign page item after adding a color will delete the color:

    var doc = app.documents.add();
    // adds black CMYK color
    sw = doc.colors.add();
    // this line will delete the color that was just added on Windows only
    var rect = doc.rectangles.add();
    alert(sw.isValid);

    This actually manifested for me as a crash bug. This script crashes InDesign 2024 Windows:

    var doc = app.documents.add();
var sw = doc.colors.add();
doc.rectangles.add({fillColor: sw});

    This crashes because the last line deletes the swatch when it adds the rectangle, then tries to use the swatch.

  5. "Print Booklet..."

    Print Booklet not observing changes to printer preferences with existing files.

    InDesign 13.0.1 x64
    Windows 10.0.16299.309
    Xerox Versant 180 with Fiery EX-i 1.1

    Steps to reproduce:
    1) Open existing document.
    2) File -> Print Booklet...
    3) Print Settings
    4) Setup...
    5) Preferences
    6) Change anything in printer preferences.
    7) OK
    8) Print
    9) OK

    Expected Result:
    Document should print using printer preferences that were specified.

    Actual Result:
    Document prints incorrectly using printer's default preferences, completely ignoring any preferences changed.

    NOTE: This issue is not observed with new files. It is observed with multiple existing files.

    Description: "Hue" effect on rectangle breaks anti-aliasing of text
    Version: InDesign 2020 (15.0.2. x64)
    OS: Windows 10 (10.0.18363 Build 18363)

    Reproduction:
    1. Create a text frame and fill it with any text
    2. Create a rectangle on the same page and go to Window -> Effects, and set the rectangle's effect to "Hue"
    3. Text on that same page no longer appears anti-aliased

    Figured this out while trying to find out why all the text looked so bad. Ended up copying things to a new document (where text wasn't jagged) one by one, and eventually narrowed it down to…

    2. steps to reproduce

      • create a new InDesign file
      • add a text frame to the blank page
      • add enough text so some words are hyphenated at the page breaks for the next pages
      • export to epub3
      • enable "Page Navigation" on EPUB export

    3. Expected result
      Page navigation markers are added without interrupting the hyphenated words at the page breaks.

    4. Actual result

      When using the "Page Navigation" export option for reflowable EPUB exports, InDesign adds a <span> and </span> tag pair with a blank space character in the HTML export instead of simply dropping the soft hyphen that was…

  8. Major performance issues in 15.0.2 with multiple large documents open

    I'm on a Windows laptop with a Core i7, 16 gb of ram and a dedicated GPU. Up until the 15.0.2 update there was some hitching and slowdown with these large files (and I noticed a weird bug where hitting T to use the Type tool doesn't actually change the tool) but now editing text can take up to 10 minutes with more than one file open. I can't make a screencast at the moment since I had to reinstall 15.0.1 to complete the project on time but the filesize we're talking about is 50-75mb, ~60 pages or so…

  9. Typing a key to quickly find an image when importing doesn't work

    When importing an image and the Place dialog window appears, I type a letter to quickly get to the image I want to import, instead of scrolling down or moving the mouse and clicking.

    This works about 50% of the time. It's as though there's some kind of timeout whereby if you import too many images in a row (one by one, not multiples at once), it won't recognise a keystroke. So, many times it simply won't work and I have to click the filename with the mouse to highlight it. This also happens in Illustrator..

  10. "Go-to-Folder" Shortcut Not Working When InDesign Opens Finder

    About two updates prior to the last 2021 update that was released, the shortcut Commnand+Shift+G that would normally open the "Go-to-Folder" dialog box when doing something like relinking an image stopped working.

    Unlike windows, where a file's location path can be copied and pasted at any time into an address bar, the "Go-to-Folder" menu can only be accessed via shortcut on Mac (as far as I am aware).   11. Programs hangs after having selected a text and then opening the font drop down list.

    After having selected some text and then opening the drop down font menu, the program starts doing an infinte number of calculations and never stops (the CPU core being used is maxed and remains like that).

    FFS hire someone who can fix it.. its been ages.

  12. windows are bigger in 17.2. resizing documents behaving badly!

    please fix this problem.
    I've just installed 17.2. All my windows and pallets are suddenly bigger and when I want to grab a document in the bottom right corner to resize, the document becomes even bigger at first!

    is there a way to go back to my previous version? PLEASE?

    macOS 11,2,1
    2 more monitors plugged on the computer

    steps

    • plug the iPad om the macbook pro 2016 on macOS 11,2,1

    • open sidecar in the system preferences and connect the iPad

    • open indesign. it opens on the macbook pro screen

    • try to move the inDesign app windows on another monitor

    expected results
    - the indesign app windows is moving in the big monitor

    actual results
    - it doesn't move
    - just the document windows is moving on the other monitor

  15. Text with missing fonts are invisible in InDesign 16.1 macOS Catalina

    Missing fonts in a document were usually showed with a replaced standard font and a light red highlight, so it pops you in the eye directly.
    In the new InDesign 16.1 on macOS Catalina 10.15.7 this feature is suddendly missing for me. The text with the missing font is completely invisible. Just an empty textbox. Just when you klick in it or open the preflight window, there you can see the errors.

    Did I miss some new settings? Sometimes you just want to quickly edit the text and generate the final pdf later. Would be great if can enable…

  16. Misplaced pin icons and shapes in Share for Review

    Pins or shapes in Share for Review are always shown with misplaced icons or shape "borders". All browsers render it similarly. In Chrome, after reloading and clearing cache through DevTools, pin icons are changed to numbers and shapes disappear (in DevTools there is some error...). Btw, in Opera for Android, there are shown numbers by default. Using InDesign 15.1.1 for Windows, tried different files on laptot/desktop with the same results.

    About a week before I used the function for the first time and everything was fine, but I'm not sure if InDesign had the latest update.

  17. InDesign 18.1 x64 (Windows) - Problem with font Latino URW Regular Italic

    InDesign 18.1 x64 (Windows) - Downloaded Adobe Latino URW fonts from Adobe fonts site - The Regular Italic shows up as Italic in Windows fonts and Word, the others are OK. When placing Word document into InDesign, get missing font because InDesign does not recognize Latino URW Italic, it wants Latino URW Regular Italic. It is a font naming issue. After removing font, restarting computer, and reloading, problem persists.

  18. Adobe Digital Editions opens links in unsupported version of Windows Explorer

    ADE opens hyperlinks in Windows Explorer, which is retired and out of support. There doesn't seem to be a way to specify a different browser in which to open links. I am using the most recent version of ADE (4.5.11.187303)

  20. The UI is not scaling correctly on Windows 4k screens - UI too small

    Hi, I am having problems with the UI Scaling on InDesign on my 4k laptop. I am using the recommended system scaling of 250% which works well with other apps except for Adobe, most noticeably InDesign. I pay a premium price for Adobe CC which should be reflected in their products. The UI is way too small on InDesign compared to Illustrator and Photoshop.

    I also have problems in all adobe apps when using an external monitor to expand my screen size. Dragging the apps from one monitor to the other does all sorts of weird things.
