Please upgrade to the new InDesign 14.0 from your Creative Cloud Application.If you are unable to see the update yet, click on the menu (three dots) on the top right corner of Creative cloud app and click on “Check for App Updates”.

version 18.4
In version 18.4 the character window does not show the content, it is empty.

Windows Warning Beep
UPDATE: I've narrowed down the problem to the Exclamation Program Event in Windows Sound. With that set to (None), the beeping no longer occurs.
When I go into inDesign, I go to any window and I hear Windows warning beeps non-stop, like I'm doing something inDesign doesn't like. If I go into Pages or Layers, they cause no issue. If I go into Preferences or Margins and Columns, then I get the beeping.
I am using Windows 10 with the latest updates.
I haven't used inDesign within the last few months, and it wasn't do it then.…1 vote -
QR code
We created business cards for 20 of our employees with a QR-code showing their contact details.
On more than half of these, the QR-code works correctly on Android but says "no usable data found" on iPhone.1 vote -
index marker grep bug in findchangelist
The prelisted double to single space query in the findchangebylist.jsx also delets index markers between spaces.
While using the find-exchange window in ID to first look for [space]+(~I+)[space]+ to exchange it with [space]$1 works well enough, putting this in the findchangelist.txt, it deletes the index markers aswell. (note: [space] is only to visualize a regular space. I'm not writing it out in my queries.)

PDFs Export to Google Drive as 0 Bytes, for Anyone on MacOS Ventura
Sometime in approximately late January 2023, my workgroup began having difficulty exporting PDFs from InDesign to our Google Drive. The PDF files appear on the Drive but as 0 bytes and can't be opened/viewed from the Chrome side of the Drive. We have isolated the problem as specific to anyone who is on MacOS Ventura. We believe the problem stems from a late January/early February upgrade to either the Google Drive, InDesign or Ventura (or perhaps a perfect storm combo of all three). Workspace panels not reappearing when exiting and reentering application
I've noticed lately that my workspace panels are sporadically disappearing when I have a document open and I click out of the document on macOS Mojave and reenter the document shortly after. If I click 'tab', the workspace doesn't reappear. The only way to make it come back is to go to Window/Workspace/Reset [Name for workspace]. Application frame is disabled.

Catastrophic loss of index data
Yesterday I laboriously created an index of a 60-page document. Today, half of the index entries are gone. And the IDML backup I made of the file shows all index entries as "PN," which, of course, is totally incorrect.
It appears that the file lost all index entries after page 40, yet I know they were there yesterday, since I entered them laboriously for hours on end.

update package
Instead of making a new package every time it would be really handy to be able to update an existing package.
proposed Use Case/action:
a new menu item: Update Package… > Show package in Finder/Windows Explorer > Only the items that are not in the existing package will be added (the items in the package that are not used will be kept in the updated package)

"Rolloff" in Animationpanel not working in CC2017 / CC2018 / MAC / WINDOWS
I am working on a diplom project right now, and faced a really annoying bug in InDesign. I want to create a rollover bar, wich slides up when I rollover / hover with my mouse over a certain object. I know without any kind of problems how I am able to create something like this, but my problem is, that the object simply wont return to its destination where it came from, when I rolloff it again, like going away with my mouse. Can't drag & drop elements into CC Libraries panel
In the latest version (16.3.2), drag and drop of a graphic on to the CC Libraries panel no longer works - is broken. I have to use the "Add elements" + button instead.
I've quit and restarted InDesign, I've restarted my Mac. No change.

Selection Tool Doesn't Allow Dragging to Move After Windows Update
Using InDesign 20.1 x64 on Windows 11. After the recent Windows security update (KB5051987), the Selection Tool no longer allows dragging to move elements on a second monitor. It could be related to the fact the monitors are not the same size and do not have the same UI scaling. It functions properly on my laptop screen but I normally work from my larger 2nd monitor and it is no longer functioning properly there. The Free Transform tool still works.

Acrolinx panel too narrow and can't be resized
Since I upgraded to InDesign 17, the Acrolinx sidebar is displayed at half the width it is supposed to be and can not be resized (see screenshot). It is completely useless this way.
With InDesign 16, everything is fine.

Activated Fonts aren't showing in the font drop down
The activated fonts aren't showing in the font drop down. They are showing under the Type menu at the top though. Nothing that I can't work with, Just very inconvenient

layers panel disappearing
My layers panel keeps disappearing - I go to the "Window" menu and open it up, do what I need to do and next time I go to use the layers panel - which I haven't closed - it has closed again... I need to keep revisiting the "Windows" menu every time I want to use it.

Slow Performance issue in the InDesign application
Very Slow Performance
Yes, InDesign is extremely slow today 2020-06-19, almost unusable, even many months after being discovered.
The most worrying is that it seems that this bug was discovered in September 2019.As David wrote 2019-09-04: “Almost every action from selecting objects, resizing objects, or moving objects comes with a really slow reaction time”.
Behaviour:
InDesign freezes, and my cursor starts spinning around (CPU jumps to 95-98%) for almost 30-45 seconds before I can continue with next command.
The behaviour is random, but when it starts working slow, then it continues. It usually happens when I open two InDesign…18 votesMany internal as well as external factors can cause the InDesign application to perform poorly.
We completed the investigation and came up with the following: Either the issue has been resolved in the most recent release of InDesign (Refer to InDesign Release notes), the issue was intermittent at the time of reporting and is no longer reproducible, or the InDesign version mentioned in the report is no longer covered by Creative Cloud Support Policy.
We would recommend you upgrade to the latest version as it is more robust. If you are still facing this issue even after updating it, create a new UserVoice thread or Contact Adobe support.

Drop Cap size, is based on next character

Macbook Pro M1When i create a drop cap, the size of the drop cap is changing based on the next character after the drop cap, it only happens when the leading is fixed, when the leading is auto, it just moves up and down based on the size of the next character.
As you can see in the attached images, both paragraphs have the same style but when i change the size of the character after the drop cap the size or the leading of the drop cap changes2 votes -
eyedropper tool doesn't work any more and scrollbar disappears in color panel
Since i update MacOS Sierra (10.12.6 version), when i try to copy a text style with the eyedropper tool, it doesn't work. Instead to copy the right style, the text becomes always white.
Other problem: in the color palette, there is no more the scroll bar: haw can i see the colours continue below the end of the window??
And also the indicator of the color type (rgb, cmyk, pantone...) doesn't appear next to the single color.
