  1. Crash on using Align Distribute option

    Help!! I used to be able to get the page tool, highlight multiple pages across a spread in the pages palette, then set the space between pages in the toolbar and use the distribute button to get even spacing between pages. Since updating to InDesign 2019 (v14.0.1), the “use spacing” measurement field never completely shows in the info bar, and every time I hit the “distribute horizontal” button, InDesign IMMEDIATELY crashes. I am using MacOS 10.13.6. Please help, I use this feature A LOT.

    The fix for this issue is now available in the latest update 14.0.2 of InDesign 2019.
    If you are unable to see the update notification yet, open the menu (three dots) from the top-right of Creative Cloud desktop application and click on ‘Check For App Updates’.
    Once the update button is shown against InDesign, click on the button to update to Id 14.0.2.

  2. command and option keys stop working

    Several times a day my command and option keys stop working in Adobe products. Only logging out will briefly fix the problem.

    There doesn't seem to be any clear fixes for this online. Any ideas?

  3. Add transparency option to paragraph shading

    Paragraph shading is super nice, but a lot of people would like to have them a little transparent over images. I know there is a option for overprinting, but this also change the color and is not a real transparency. Without this option it has to be done manually on each element.

    So please add this additional feature to the settings. Thx

  4. Align Towards Spine/Away From Spine in Slug Area

    Not sure if this is better as bug report or feature request . . .

    Spine alignment options do not work for text in Slug Area. For example, text set to Align Towards Spine and positioned in the slug area beside a recto page does not align toward spine.

    It makes sense why spine alignment for objects generally might not work for text not touching a page, since the pasteboard does not have a spine, but the slug area should be recognized as an extension of the page (or, at least, the requirements of the page).

  5. Nonbreaking Space shortcut doesn't work on mac

    The shortcut for the "Nonbreaking Space" (option+command+X) doesn't work anymore in Indesign 2023 (and 2022). Clearing cache and preferences didn't fix it.

  6. autocorrect

    Autocorrect and spellcheck do not work on my version of Indesign CC 2020.

    I have all options turned on, and it doesn't work at all.

    Please assist as is hugely frustrating!!!

  7. MacOS Ventura 13.6.1, InDesign 19.1: fx (multiply, overlay, saturation etc) unavailable.

    Working with images/objects: When I try to select options below Normal in the Effects dropdown (multiply, overlay, saturation etc), the dropdown snaps back to Normal. It's also impossible to change the Effect's opacity.

  8. Shift option drag crashes InDesign

    I have used Shift Option Drag for a million years. Roughly a month ago it started crashing InDesign. I removed Plug-Ins, I uninstalled and reinstalled InDesign. I ran maleware, all good. App was up to date. How does that happen out of nowhere???????

    We have released InDesign 2025(v20.2.0.036) with many stability fixes. We recommend you upgrade to the latest version (if you’re not already on it) as it is more robust.

    If you still face this issue even after updating, please submit the crash report to us. (Guidelines to submit crash are available at (https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/kb/submit-crash-reports.html )

    Also, please send the following information to santalwa@adobe.com :

    • Reproducible Steps – What were you doing when InDesign crashed?
    • Video recording of the crash
    • Is(Are) the issue related to a specific document(s)/asset(s)? If yes, could you provide us with the document(s)/asset(s)? Please package the entire document (To package the document, choose File → Package…)

  9. InDesign files from CC to CS6 - hypenation won't work anymore

    In advance:
    - Our external writers send us InDesign CC files (idml and indd)
    - We open and save them in InDesign CS6
    - Our customers use InDesign CS6

    1. Version:
      InDesign CS6 8.0
      InDesign CC from 12.0 to 14.0.2 (others not tested)

    2. Steps:
      Since when: between 10 and 17. April 2019 (last time it worked on 10. April 2019)

    2.a Open InDesign CC (any version, i tested 12.0, 13.1, 14.0.1 and 14.0.2)
    2.b Save a file with activated hypenation (either indd or idml, both tested)
    2.c Open either one of 2.b. in CS6

    InDesign 13.1.x64

    When you have two monitors, the main with 125% font size and the secondary with 100% font size, the mouse pointer didn't work well on secondary screen when selecting menu options.

  11. Adjust layout without resizing anchored objects

    With the Adjust Layout feature activated, if I resize the margins of a page or apply a master page with different margins, anchored objects on the page end up getting resized. I have even had some anchored objects disappear completely (although the anchors are still there). I want to be able to adjust the main text frame on a page to the new margins WITHOUT changing the anchored objects, which are part of the text flow and should not be changed.

    For example, in designing a book, I want to apply a certain master page to pages with chapter headings.…

  12. Crash when "fitting frame to content" on an inline-anchored textframe (inline or above line)

    Hi,
    Last week i noticed that InDesign crashes when I fit the textframe to its contents, when that textframe is anchored as "text" inside another textframe (anchor-option: incline or above line) when it is not separated by paragraph breaks or whitespaces.

    I have a file that has one textframe for the main column. In it I placed several smaller textframes with more than one column as textelements.
    I didn't separate them by a space or linebreak. When fitting one of the smaller frames to its content by double clicking the lower reference point in the middle to get rid of…

  13. InDesign Export PDF - Misisng font style (i.e., italic, bold, tiny text changed)

    Dear InDesign Folks,

    We've found some font style attribute changed in PDF file, another one issue is Ligature text missed out at PDF file.

    Application: InDesign CC 2015.0 Version 11.0.
    Windows: 7 & 10 Pro

    Steps & Process:
    1. We are generating 2 set of PDF with different Job-options.

    1. PAP Layer enabled PDF (i.e., particular layer enabled and creating the PDF, it's contains Images and Text like water mark).

    2. PRINT Layer disabled PDF (i.e., disabled the layer which we enabled in step 2).

    3. Using JavaScript generating 2 sets of PDF at a time.

  14. Sentence case in styles

    Please add a "Sentence Case" to Paragraph Styles. Incredibly the choices are limited to Normal, Small Caps, All Caps, OpenType All Small Caps. When editing a book the subheads are almost always Sentence Case. Why would this not be an option?

  15. Page number truncated exporting to PDF (when using HarfBuzz and World-Ready Composer)

    Summary: When using HarfBuzz and the World Ready Composer, automatic fields such as the current page number are truncated to their first character when exporting to PDF.

    Steps to reproduce the problem:
    1. Enable HarfBuzz rendering mode. (Script: app.textPreferences.shapeIndicAndLatinWithHarbuzz = true;)
    2. Create a new document.
    3. Add a text frame.
    4. In the text frame, insert a marker for the current page number. (Type > Insert Special character > Markers > Current page number.)
    5. Set the paragraph justification to use Adobe World Ready Composer.

  16. drop shadow issues

    Hello!

    I'm trying to do an A3 poster with two layers:
    Layer one: A rectangle a white-black gradient fill and some line option and drop shadow applied.
    Layer two: Some text frames with white text with black strokes.

    When I add drop shadow to the text it looks just as intended on screen.

    But when I print it out on a big, expensive Samsung X7600 Series printer, I get a kind of gradient color in bottom of text frames. As if I had applied some color to the frame.

  17. Create Merged Document causes Indesign to hang and crash

    1. Version of Adobe InDesign, InCopy or InDesign Server: Adobe InDesign 2021 v16.4 macOS Big Sur 11.6
    2. Steps to reproduce the issues: Select Data Source in Data Merge panel options Assign data placement field in document's master page Click "Create Merged Document..." in Data Merge panel options
    3. Expected result: InDesign should insert data from selected source document and create new pages for all records.
    4. Actual result: Source document is imported correctly, and preview in Data Merge panel displays correct data, but when I click "Create Merged Document..." in Data Merge panel options it cause Indesign to hang, the application stops responding…

  18. 15.1 High Sierra data merge- wont load file when colon (:) is in header

    On selecting data source it does nothing. comma-seperated, tab seperated. All the same issue, the records and headers won't show. Like nothing happens.
    I do get my import options. They don't make any difference either.

  19. Error encountered while reading TIFF image

    Adobe Indesign 2023 (v18).
    When render TIFF images from Blender using the Deflate (ZIP) option.
    All other compression options gives images with black background and no transparency.
    Up to v17 Indesign 2022 these images imported just fine.
    When doing a resave in Photoshop with no changes, the images imports fine.

  20. white overprint with placed INDD

    I stumbled across a strange phenomenon today. I have an INDD file (file 1), which is placed as such in another INDD file (file 2). In this file 1 there is a Swiss cross, which is placed as EPS. If this placed file 1 is exported as PDFX-4, everything looks correct. However, if the file 2 with the placed file 1 is exported as PDFX-4, something strange happens. The Swiss cross disappears in the PDF or the white is set to overprint. However, this is neither stored in file 1 nor in the EPS.
