InDesign is removing caps from file names
InDesign 17.1 x64 Often (most of the time, but not always) when I overwrite (File Save As) or Export to a PDF that already exists and overwrite the current file, the new file name becomes all small letters (removes my caps). It only happens with InDesign. I can overwrite PDFs from Word, Access, etc and it never happens. This is very frustrating. Just started happening with version 17.

Going to the end of the line includes the whitespace(s) also
Typing in illustrator has an issue when going to the end of the line - when pressing the End key moves the cursor to the end of the line, including the space; therefore typing again will prepend text to the word on the other line.
To reproduce:
- Type a text which is long enough to break on the next line. Let's say, the text will break between "word1 word2"
- Go to the first line.
- Hit End, then x on the keyboard.
+ Expected result: "word1x word2"
+ Actual result: "word…1 vote -
Till yet InDesign CC does not recognize some common Arabic Marks
Till yet InDesign CC does not recognize some commonly used Quranic Arabic marks like uni08F0, uni08F1 and uni0F82, though these are added to Unicode several years ago. Images, test file and test font "Uthman" are added.
First image shows these marks.
Second image shows their correct placement above or below the letters in MS Word and the wrong result in InDesign CC.
Test font "Uthman" and test indesign document are attached.1 vote -
Justifying frame or change leading causes text to change
This is happening from time to time. The hyphenation of the word inside the red stroke is removed simply by setting the text frame vertical justfication to 'Justify' or by changing the leading of the paragraph. These modifications should not mess with the text and hyphenation. When this happens, in certain circumstances, it changes the number of lines of the paragraph (see prints), causing the whole story to reflow.

Wrong translation of “rule” in Czech version of InDesign 2020
Please stop using Google Translate to translate Adobe UI to Czech language.
The new feature Column Rules is translated into Czech language as Regulations for Columns! (Pravidla pro sloupce) This is totally wrong! It should read “Linky mezi sloupci” (lines in between columns). Also the word “linie” is wrong, it is not used by designers. You should use “linka” as it is already in use in other UI dialogs in InDesign.
1 voteFix for this issue is now available in the latest update of InDesign 2020 – that is, InDesign 15.0.1
In the Creative Cloud Desktop application, click on the Updates section on the left. You should be able to see the Update available for InDesign. Please update your InDesign application to this version to try out the fix.
Let us know in the comments section if you face any problem with the updation process.

InDesign CC 2019 No search results when trying to place a file
When I try to place a file in InDesign CC 2019 (or ANY CC 2019 app) and I enter text in the search box to find my file it defaults to "my Mac" instead of the folder I want it to search. Then when I select the folder I want to search it yields no results even though I KNOW there is a file there containing that word in the name. The folder I want it to search is on a remote server. I have tried to reindex the remote server in Spotlight (by adding it to the privacy tab…

InDesign spellcheck no longer recognizes everyday words
The new version of InDesign I am using (15.1.3) does not recognize everyday words such as ‘year’ (see attachment)! It makes the spellchecker virtually useless. Am I doing something wrong, or is there something I can do to fix this please?

Dynamic Spelling not working with Case Sensitive words
InDesign version 2020 15.0.1
We researched how to use Dynamic Spelling to pick up words that should have Title Case, but are lowercase in the document, followed their steps and the result doesn't work.
The words we added in the dictionary with Capital letters, don't get highlighted with dynamic spelling.
Also when we add our own dictionary, InDesign defaults back to User Dictionary.1 vote -

no correct hyphenation of German words with dashes
In German we have many terms consisting of two or more words with dashes in between. Everybody would hyphenate these naturally behind the dashes. InDesign is unable to do so, but suggests multiple wrong or ugly hyphenations and leaves the dashes as if they were non-breaking hyphens, which they are not! I know this problem since several years. I had it in CS5 and 6 as well as in every later version and today in InDesign 2020.
For example: In cookbooks there are often intermediate products consisting of two or more ingredients. Some (artificial) examples:

Damaged capitals
In Design 19.3 x64
After pouring in an editable file (MS Word 2010), where the capitals were in the footnotes in the names of the author(s) and editor(s) the capitals did not include the last letter of the last name or the last two letters.
Earlier versions (3-4 updates) worked fine.
Selecting the author's name and including capitals does not help. Further the last letter (or two) are not capitals. You have to mark the name and a comma (sometimes even a space) to make the full name capitals.
It takes more time, more attention to correct all the footnotes.…2 votes -
Preferences: Type: Use of Typographer’s Quote reset to off
- Adobe InDesign 14.0.3
- Create or open a document with Use of Typographer’s Quote checkbox ticked. Copy/Paste text from a document (Word, TextEdit) into the InDesign document. Note that the resetting of the Preferences doesn't happen all the time, only sometimes and I haven't been able to narrow it down to a certain context.
- The pasted text should use Typographer’s Quote according to the Preferences.
- The quotes from that pasted text use straight quotes instead, and when opening the Preferences, the checkbox is now unticked.
Note: I've encountered this bug in previous versions of InDesign from CS5 up to…

Mixed usage Left-to-right and Right-to-left text in the same paragraph
Ms Word files can contain Right-To-Left and Left-To-Right text in the same paragraph. When copy/pasting the text into Indesign, only one of the 2 textdirections is displayed correctly.
Creating the text frame which uses the Right-to-Left text direction, and using the World Ready composer, the corresponding text is displayed well. Inline phrases in English, are displayed wrong. Changing the composer to regular Single line composer fixes the English phrases, but messes up the foreign language.
When using different paragraphs, each with the corresponding composer, all works well. When a combination is used in a single paragraph, it can't be fixed.

Wrong alphaphetic order in index
Alphaphetic index order is wrong in Finnish InDesign 19.3.
For example this is the result:
Koivu, Jukka 143, 208, 209
Koivula, Pauli 80
Koivu, Saku 132, 142
Koivusalo, Timo 110, 111
Koivu, Tuire 143
Kolmonen, Jaakko 17, 18Should be this:
Koivu, Jukka 143, 208, 209
Koivu, Saku 132, 142
Koivu, Tuire 143
Koivula, Pauli 80
Koivusalo, Timo 110, 111
Kolmonen, Jaakko 17, 18Also the W-beginnings word should be in own section, not in V-beginnings.

Cross Reference search doesn't recognize typographer's quotes
When creating a cross-reference by searching for text with a particular style, the search text will not recognize a typographer's single quote. Therefore, a word like "woman's" with a single prime mark will work, but that same word using a proper single quote mark will yield no results, even if I can verify the existence of the text in the document to which I'm creating the cross-reference. The search function should be able to recognize that character, but if not, could it auto-replace such characters with the dumb quote mark? Failing that, could there be a simple warning message telling…

Ghost hyperlinks can't be fixed
With placed Word text, I often have 'ghost hyperlinks', meaning I need there's no active hyperlink in the text but I'm not allowed to select that text and add a hyperlink – 'New hyperlink' is greyed out.
Double-clicking the paragraph inspires this message: "all corrupt hyperlinks in the selected text have been removed," but I'm still unable to add a hyperlink. The only fix I've found is to cut the text, paste it in another app, copy and re-paste it into ID as fresh 'uncorrupted' text.
Cutting all relevant paragraphs makes ID crash.
Of course this is a real hassle,…

InDesign freezing when pressing backspace in a text box of more than 500 or 600 words
This only seems to be a problem when using long text boxes more than a few hundred words. InDesign starts to slow down while I'm typing, but if I then select text or press backspace (mostly the latter) then InDesign freezes for 10 to 15 seconds.
I've searched the problem, but the only solution I have found is to try closing the info panel, but this seems to be a CS3 fix and doesn't work.

Overset text
Hi team, I am having issues with overset text. When I drag my text frame outside of the bleed line into the workspace the icon doesn't appear. As soon as I drag it onto my page the icon shows and if I increase the text frame additional text space appears above the word. There is no text wrap on the text frame and is on a completely different layer so arrangement isn't an issue. Can you please help me fix this issue.

Accessible PDF exports paragraph lines in individual content containers
Steps:
1. Create a simple InDesign file, and type in a paragraph on several lines, apply any paragraph style
2. Export to a tagged PDF and examine the <P> tag in the Tags paneExpected result: The entire paragraph is in one content container
Actual result: Each line of text is in its own content container. The paragraph is really hard to read in the PDF when pressing Down Arrow with NVDA or JAWS. This causes each line to be read separately, e.g. with NVDA the default is to have "Use screen layout" as Off.
In InDesign lines can be…
