Static Endnotes
When importing Word files with Static Endnotes ticked from Word .doc files the endnote indicators within the text are no longer superior. There is no character style to be able to change these back. Without these indicators remaining superior makes the Static Endnotes a waste of time if you work in .doc instead of .docx. We always use .doc files as there are too many bugs using .docx - bits of text missing; loss of italics here and there etc. Using .doc files are always foolproof. We are typesetters manipulating text 12 hours a day and know all the pit…

Font KNU (karen) doesn't display correctly in InDesign files.
When working on files that are written in Karen language, suing KNU font, this font is not displaying corrently.
The same font displays fine in PowerPoint, Word, PDF software, but not in InDesign.
Also, the accessibility information doesn't accept text in Karen.

"haven't" contraction hyphenating in English USA
Unlike most of the other common contractions in English, the word "haven't" hyphenates at the end of a line. It shouldn't.

Lao Line Breaking Support
I'm working on a major project using the Lao language and InDesign. The Lao text is not flowing correctly in InDesign. There are addons that provide these features (LaoScript), but there isn't native InDesign support, from what I can tell.
Lao text does not seem to properly word wrap. Many professionals use zero-width-spaces in Lao to create invisible 'spaces' between words so that applications properly word wrap. However, this has significant drawbacks and makes it harder for Lao people to use and edit their language because editing text with invisible characters is difficult (especially on mobile, but PCs as…

World-Ready Composer Is messing up the kerning in Latin fonts
I have reported a variation of this—back with CS6—but it seems not to have been fixed. I assume it's a bug, but if someone can enlighten me about what I might be doing wrong and how I can fix this, I'd appreciate it.
I often work on books that include Arabic and Hebrew words and phrases in the middle of English text. They only way to get the Arabic ligatures to form is to use one of the World Ready composers. When I do that, though, the kerning around some English characters often—but not always—is affected. I have tried…

index
If a Word file has an Index built within it, InDesign can only see it if it is a .doc file. This is a bug with CC2019-CC2014 and earlier. If you import the .docx file there are no index entries in the index panel, but there are if the file is converted to .doc.
The only way you can use a .docx file is to open it in Word and then cut and paste all the Word file text into InDesign. This way InDesign sees the Index, but I would not want to import this way, so I convert to…1 vote -
Strange characters appear when pasting any text from anywhere
I have InDesign CC2019 - Whenever I paste from any program (Word, Outlook, Notepad) into InDesign there is an odd boxed character with an X anywhere there was a line ending in the original. There are no soft returns or hard returns or anything in the originals it just word wrapped in a spot - and InDesign inserts a character which I cannot search for or replace.

InDesign 18.1 x64 (Windows) - Problem with font Latino URW Regular Italic
InDesign 18.1 x64 (Windows) - Downloaded Adobe Latino URW fonts from Adobe fonts site - The Regular Italic shows up as Italic in Windows fonts and Word, the others are OK. When placing Word document into InDesign, get missing font because InDesign does not recognize Latino URW Italic, it wants Latino URW Regular Italic. It is a font naming issue. After removing font, restarting computer, and reloading, problem persists.

Loss of typographic enrichment (italic, bold, etc.) on import
On CC2019 14.0.3 but also on previous versions.
When I import a Miscrosoft Word text I sometimes lose part of the enrichment. On the attached example the majority of Bold are kept but some are gone. This is very problematic when working on documents of several hundred pages.3 votes -
Spell Checker
Hello
I have a problem with spell checking in Indesing. The issue is that it does not correct words that are wrongly accented, for example, in Spanish, the word "como" when it should have an accent or the word "mas" when it should have an accent.
Let me explain:
The sentence (always in Spanish): ¿como te va la vida? should be written like this: ¿cómo te va la vida? and when I run the spell checker it does not detect the word "como", since it should have an accent. However, if I write ¿como te va la bida? it…1 vote -
Crash when placing DOCX with character styles
Steps:
1. Attempt to place place Word.docx in an InDesign 2020 document.
2. InDesign spends a long time parsing character styles.
3. Resaved Word file as .doc file and was able to import it. I don't know what information (if any) in the Word file was lost. This is not an ideal solution.Link above "How to Submit Crash Report" is dead. I have previously submitted several crash reports through the InDD/system interface.

Find/change 15.1.3, Windows 10
Find/change does not work when a character style (e.g. italic) is selected.
Have closed program and started it again, and it works for words selected, but could not get it to find this question mark character ?, nor would it change format of a word to italics when this was selected under the Find Format and/or Change Format boxes. Following this I also found it would not find a selected word with no formatting changes requested.1 vote -
translate
Very often I need to translate booklets that were designed in InDesign. Some booklets can be huge containing many text fields. Many translators request to send them the text in a MS Word file. Therefore, i have to copy-paste all the text text-box by text-box. And then repeat the same process to transfer the translation back to InDesign from MS Word.
It would have been nice if InDesign could automatically export ONLY the text from text boxes into MS Word using HTML tags. Like:<textbox_00001> text text text</textbox_00001>
<textbox_00002> abc</textbox_00002>
<textbox_00003> text 2</textbox_00003>And then be able to import…

Spacing text is different in InDesign 2021
When opening a document in version 2021 which is created in 2020, the text looks exactly the same, but when you try to change the spacing of a word, the whole alinea is recreating a whole new spacing. Looks like it has something to do with metric, but it's really annoying. Spacing one word means re-spacing the whole alinea. Anyone else experienced the same?

Misplaced dots in Nastaleeq Font rendering
I'm using Adobe Indesign 2020 for an Urdu book. Most text is in Urdu and my font of choice is Mehr Nastaleeq. The text looks fine in MS Word using the font (see attached image) but In Design is not rendering certain words correctly (see attached image).

.TTF and .OTF font display/loading BUG InDesign 17.2
Fonts that used to load fine in InDesign appear missing even though they are installed and work in other apps like Illustrator or even Word.
Specifically this is occurring with a font that has unique glyphs: Noto Sans - Canadian Aboriginal Regular.TTF this has also been tested with a conversion to .OTF with the same result and this error has been confirmed across multiple devices.
